Much to the delight of emo Halo 3 fanboys everywhere, Hot Topic has begun taking pre-orders on the Halo 3 replica Covenant weaponry from Jasman Toys. For those unaware of these toys replicas, they feature laser tag functionality and are supposed to behave in the same manner as their digital counterparts. For example, the plasma pistol features a "super shot" mode and the exhaust on the plasma rifle will open when it "overheats." Both replicas also feature accurate sound effects and recoil. You'd better really love Halo (or laser tag) though, because the plasma pistol alone will set you back 70 bones. The plasma rifle costs nearly twice as much at $120. For that much money you could just buy Halo 3. Hell, you could almost afford the Legendary Edition. Still, if the plasma pistol exhaust port pops open after a charged shot, we might just pick one up when they release next month.[Thanks, john kirkpatrick]

If you haven't gotten hyped enough over the forthcoming third installment of the Halo series, perhaps you might want to get your paws on these illified (and expensive) toy guns from Jasman Toys. Apparently, the Halo 3-modeled firearms will not only look really bad-ass on your mantelpiece at home, but the recoiling, sound-projecting, light-flashing gats will also enable you to play a game of "advanced" laser tag, called "Halo Laser Pursuit." With the accompanying wearable laser target you can try and reenact your favorite scenes from the games, as the receivers perform somewhat like Halo's shields, or so says Jasman. Really the only way this game of tag differs from the actual game is that no one dies -- and it's not nearly as much fun. Priced between $79.99 and $119.99, available in October.[Via Xbox 360 Fanboy]

Hey, remember that nifty overheating plasma rifle replica we talked about last week? In Bungie's recent weekly update, we not only got new details on the wonderful device, but we also got the first images too. Jasman Toys had both the plasma rifle and pistol prototypes on display at Comic-Con last week. Speaking to Bungie, the toymaker noted that the replicas would feature accurate sound effects and recoil. While they didn't mention if the plasma pistol will also open its exhaust port when overheated, they did confirm that it will have a "super shot" mode that inflicts more damage. Speaking of the Laser Pursuit functionality, Jasman noted that it is more than just laser tag. The targets will behave like shields in the Halo games. Take too much damage, and the shields will die. Take cover for a few seconds, and they will recharge. We're slowly beginning to realize that we are much too old to be playing laser tag. We are also, however, coming to realize that we don't care. We're playing, damn it, and no one can stop us. Hit the "read" link for more details and a shot of the plasma pistol replica.

Halo 3 continues its screaming path towards the finish line as tales of production lockouts fill the halls of Bungie. The roads have been laid out and while bugs continue to get squashed, the project as a whole sounds about where it should be for its September 25th debut.Definitely on the shallow end of information this week, laser tag was the focus of all things, highlighting some of the awesome new merchandise on display at Comic-Con. Jasman Toys will be releasing laser-spewing replicas of both the Covenant Plasma Pistol and Plasma Rifle sometime next year and boy do they look hot. Sure, they may not moisten your pants like last weeks real-world Warthog, but at least we know we'll actually be able to handle these someday. In game-related news, Luke confesses that Brutes may possess greater intelligence than he, regaling a time where the beasts actually climbed like the monkeys they are just to reach his location. Both he and Frankie agree, the Brutes are more enjoyable to fight than the Elites found in previous games. A bold statement that we'll get to the bottom of this September.

Jasman Toys announced back in February that they were creating a line of Halo 3 toys -- with laser tag abilities -- based on the Covenant plasma rifle, plasma pistol, and energy sword. They have announced today that these new toys will be unveiled at the San Diego Comic which begins tomorrow. The company has also revealed that the replica weapons -- not to be confused with those weapons from Master Replicas -- will include several features in order to give them an authentic look and feel. For example, should you "overheat" the plasma rifle, the sides will open -- just as they do in the game -- in order to allow the excess "heat" to vent. We hope this functionality is applied to the plasma pistol as well. Jasman also revealed the expected prices for the plasma rifle and pistol. The rifle will retail for $119.99 (ouch) and the pistol will cost $79.99 (ouch again). Both will be available in October. The sword won't be available until 2008 and (thankfully) has yet to be priced. Hopefully, we'll get to see these in action as Microsoft brings Comic-Con home. [Thanks, Michael Valentine]

Yesterday, TeamXbox reported that Jasman Toys will be partnering with Microsoft and Bungie to create an exclusive line of Halo 3 toys. But these aren't just any ordinary toys, oh no, these are replica Covenant weapons! Jasman Toys is creating a laser tag type of game using the Halo 3 plasma rifle, plasma pistol, and energy sword. Finally, we now have a way to act out our Master Chief fantasies in the real world. And we fully understand how the plasma rifle and pistol will shoot out laser goodness, but how is the world is the energy sword going to work?
