Uber might be on the hunt for a second-in-command to keep its behavior in line, but that isn't stopping one key executive from heading out the door. Recode sources claim that company President Jeff Jones is leaving after having been on the job for less than a year. Reportedly, the string of controversies in recent weeks were simply too much. Between defying law enforcement, sexual harassment allegations, dodgy self-driving claims, the uproar over Trump's economic council and the CEO's outburst, Uber just wasn't the ridesharing outfit Jones thought he was joining in 2016.

Given how eager Uber seems to replace drivers with autonomous cars, a Q&A session conducted by Ridesharing President Jeff Jones on Facebook went about as well as you'd expect. He answered just a dozen or so questions (out of over 500) and cut the session off after less than half of the allotted 60-minute time. The worst part as far as the drivers were concerned, however, was that his responses to their existential concerns were mainly platitudes and irrelevant links.

  • Microsoft: Vista has fewer first-year vulnerabilities than any modern OS

He we go again. Like an evil pope preparing to recapture the Holy Land, Jeff Jones, Microsoft's self-proclaimed "Security Guy" (and Microsoft Director) just published the Vista One Year Vulnerability Report. As you can see from the graph above, JJ's methodology concludes that Microsoft's Vista easily bests the first year vulnerabilities found in XP, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, and Apple's own OS X. As contentious as the report is, is anyone else reflecting on the fact that Vista is more than a year old for businesses (almost exactly one for consumers) yet XP continues to ship standard on many PCs?[Via Slashdot]
