Nothing too special this week, but they can't all be winners, right? The fact that we can now call two demos and a bunch of add-on content a mediocre update nowadays must mean that Sony is doing something right. Tempted by Eye of Judgment set three? No? How about if we remind you that it includes trophies? It's going to be tough picking what to pick up in the next few months there are just too many games. Here's the full release list: Playable content Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway demo (free) MotorStorm Pacific Rift demo (free) Add-on content Eye of Judgment Biolith Rebellion set 3 (£6.99/€9.99) Eye of Judgment Biolith Rebellion set 2 & 3 (£10.49/€14.99) Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 "Firestone County Club" (£4.99/€7.49) Rock Band DLC (Listed after the break)

Click for bigger cars -- brrm, brrrm! Sony has revealed the full track list for MotorStorm Pacific Rift. The 16 levels are split between four zones, each based on an element. In the Air Zone you'll find lots of jumps, cliffs and downhill sections while the Earth Zone is a little more down to earth (get it?), with plenty of plants and undergrowth which can get in your way, hide obstacles and, apparently, fight back. In the Fire Zone you'll be faced with lava pits, volcanoes and rocky wastelands and, finally, in the Water Zone you'll find the island's coast, huge waterfalls and rivers. For a description of each of the 16 tracks, check after the break for the press release excerpt. This should please those who found the dusty desert setting of the original MotorStorm a bit dull after a while. Pacific Rift promises to be incredibly varied, especially when you check out the tracks themselves. We've been given a huge number of screenshots to get up, including maps of most of the tracks, so check them out in the gallery below. It's definitely worth a look. %Gallery-22308%

Interested in seeing what you'll be driving across Motorstorm's tropical paradise this fall, or better yet, what sorts of wreckage will be left in your wake? Why not both, as Sony has released information detailing Motorstorm: Pacific Rift's vehicle line-up, which boasts eight different vehicle classes, each demanding a different style of driving across 16 island tracks.Among those featured in the game include old favorites like mudpluggers and motorbikes, and the sequel's newly introduced monster trucks, which promise plenty of devastation when the game careens into a palm tree this October (turning on a dime is tough!).

Sony announced today that island racer MotorStorm: Pacific Rift will drive into stores October 28. The PlayStation Blog also mentions that those who pre-order the title at GameStop will receive the demo. Beyond racing against the computer, the demo features split-screen racing against a real-life buddy. Those wary of pre-order deals also have the option of downloading it from PSN ... even though they'll still have to pay for the privilege. • Hands-on: MotorStorm Pacific Rift

We had a chance to check in with MotorStorm: Pacific Rift once again. An "80% complete" demo we played gave us access to four different levels: two single player and two split-screen races. Easily the most impressive level we played had to be the Wildfire level. This level takes everything that's good about MotorStorm and amplifies it to the extreme. Pacific Rift's play on hot versus cold goes into full effect here, in this dark volcanic level. It's unlike anything we've seen from the game so far, and it's a terrific contrast to the usual lush greens of the game. With deadly lava and fire everywhere, this is quite possibly the most dramatic level in the MotorStorm series so far. Of course, with the heat so high, your vehicle will have a rather easy disposition to overheat whilst boosting -- we even went so far as to explode our bike. Ouch! Thankfully, there are numerous showering stations scattered throughout the branching course, which will cool down your vehicle and take out any fire which may still be clinging to your vehicle. The constant switch between molten lava and refreshing water is not only visually arresting, but creates a very good gameplay balance. Do you opt to take a shorter route to shave a few seconds off your time, or do you go headstrong through the water to cool down your vehicle, and earn a little bit more boost?%Gallery-22308%

Here in the States, Qore subscribers will be able to fling mud across the startled faces of both friends and enemies alike in the Motorstorm: Pacific Rift demo which is due out this week for those who purchased the fourth installment of Sony's online gaming mag. Unfortunately, Qore number four isn't available on the PSN in other territories -- however, a recent news brief from unofficial PlayStation blog Three Speech hints that Europeans will receive the demo soon -- albeit in a fairly unconventional manner.Three Speech reports that random European PS3 owners will be receiving vouchers this coming Thursday via email which will allow them to download the Pacific Rift demo on PSN. We're not entirely sure why Sony decided upon this "Golden Ticket" approach for the demo's release -- sure, the hype built from all the exclusivity will likely pay off, but will all the disappointment felt by the unchosen really be worth it?

It appears that the next episode of Sony's Qore digital magazine will feature the Motorstorm: Pacific Rift demo a month before it's free for all. That means $3 can secure you the demo, at least if you don't want the $25 annual Qore subscription, which will net you Calling All Cars as well. The fourth installment of Qore will also feature a LittleBigPlanet theme, Prince of Persia and BioShock ... yes, we wrote that just in case you somehow missed the same information in the picture above.[PS3 Fanboy]%Gallery-30178%

It's E3. It shouldn't be surprising that Sony would release a brand new trailer for their upcoming Motorstorm sequel. It may look like more of the same, but in this case, "more" really means a lot more. Seeing the franchise finally leave the desert for a bit more varied territory is refreshing -- some of these levels look incredibly epic in scope. We have some hands-on time with the game coming up, and we'll be able to report to you guys very soon. Until then, enjoy the new trailer and new screenshots: %Gallery-22308%

Click for high-resolution image. There's a bigger, badder and more badass sequel coming out this year. You guessed it: MotorStorm Pacific Rift. There's more to be excited about in the sequel other than interactive vegetation. If you didn't hear, Pacific Rift is going to have twice the tracks of the original, and four-player split-screen racing (something sorely missing from the original).Pacific Rift is also going to add a number of commonly requested features, such as a Photo Mode, which allows you to take screenshots from within the game to store and share on your PS3. There's also Custom Soundtracks, which allows you to play music from your hard drive, so you can finally drive around thrashing to Britney Spears and Avril Lavigne (if you so choose).Sixteen tracks. Twenty player online multiplayer. Custom soundtracks. Photo mode. Monster trucks. It really looks like Pacific Rift is really going above and beyond the original's offerings. • Motorstorm 2 = Motorstorm: Pacific Rift

    by

    05.06.2008

If Hollywood has taught us anything, it's that the best entry in a popular franchise will always have a stylized "2" somewhere in its title. Oh, but not Paul Hollywood. Noooo, he's saying that Motorstorm's first sequel won't be distinguished by a number, but rather its "Pacific Rift" subtitle. Also, you'll notice it has a lot more trees than the last game.Speaking at Sony's PlayStation Day 2008 event, the creative director at Evolution Studios talked up some of the features in the upcoming Motorstorm: Pacific Rift. Boasting twice the number of tracks and four times as many racers in local multiplayer (total: four) than the PlayStation 3 launch title, Pacific Rift puts racers in a tropical locale, one filled with interactive vegetation technology. It's a fancy way of saying that when you're playing chicken with a rather large tree, you'd best be inside one of the game's new monster trucks. Another benefit of hurtling through lush island terrain can be found in bodies of water -- splashing through them can cool down your engine temperature. We're sure to learn and see more of Motorstorm 2 Motorstorm: Pacific Rift closer to its planned Fall release.
