Samung's Galaxy Note 5 isn't officially available in the UK -- not yet, anyway -- but nonetheless, we've got a cheeky import to send the way of one lucky reader this week. The 32GB, Black Sapphire model comes courtesy of our friends at Bitdefender, who are celebrating the recent launch of their new Mobile Security and Antivirus suite for Android. The app uses Bitdefender's constantly updated, cloud-based antivirus services to keep your device malware-free, and allows you lock individual apps with passcodes for an extra layer of protection from idle hands. Alongside several anti-theft tools, the app also offers secure web browsing, a breakdown of app permissions that may be cause for concern, and Android Wear integration that alerts your smartwatch when you stray an uncomfortable distance from your phone. And whoever wins the Galaxy Note 5 this week will also get a full year's subscription to Bitdefender Mobile Security and Antivirus for free. As always, you can enter the competition up to three times via the Rafflecopter widget below, though we'd ask you give the rules a quick once-over first.

As major corporations continue to succumb to hacks and the government's prying eyes are still relatively unchecked, it's always a good idea to bulk up your personal security. Bitdefender has been in the business of just that for years and now its new Mobile Security and Antivirus is available to secure your mobile Android devices. The app stays lean by using in-the-cloud antivirus services which are continually updated. On your device, it offers malware scanning, device tracking in the case of possible theft, App Lock to secure individual apps with a pin and Privacy Advisor to help keep your private data safe from snooping apps. There's even Android Wear integration to alert you if you step too far away from your smartphone. If you enter this week, that handset could be a new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (32GB, Black Sapphire), along with a year's subscription to Bitdefender's service. Just head down to the Rafflecopter widget below for up to three chances at winning this security app and Android smartphone package. Winner: Congratulations to Vincent T. of Los Angeles, CA!

Samsung has opened the public beta of its new phone-based Pay service ahead of its official launch late next month. Beta participants will need to have a Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Note 5, or S6 Edge+ (unrooted, mind you) as well as a credit or debit card from US Bank (Visa) or Bank of America (Visa or MasterCard). Additionally, they'll need cellular service from AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, or US Cellular. Verizon subscribers are SOL as the company is still "evaluating" Samsung's system. There's no word yet on when or if Verizon will actually participate. [Image Credit: FilmMagic]

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5 review: the best big phone just got better

For a while there, companies like Palm and Microsoft insisted that the mark of a serious smartphone was the ability to write on it with a stylus. The industry seemingly changed its mind with the advent of capacitive touchscreens, and the stylus became something to scoff at, a holdover from antiquated operating systems like Windows Mobile and Palm OS. But then there's Samsung, which has been trying for years now to keep the idea alive with several versions of the Galaxy Note, a phablet that never quite felt or looked as nice as it should. Well, those days are over. The new Note 5 is the best big phone Samsung has made yet, and it just might make a believer out of a few naysayers.

You know Samsung isn't afraid to taunt Apple with ads. But now, in the name of marketing, the South Korean company is introducing a program that aims to lure users away from the iPhone. With Ultimate Test Drive, Samsung's giving owners of Apple's smartphone the chance to try its new Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+, at no cost and for 30 days. Samsung says the devices will include a data plan and be compatible with any US carrier, though right now it's unclear what customers are expected to use as collateral. "We want to give people the chance to try out Samsung's latest and greatest smartphones firsthand without any obligation through our Ultimate Test Drive," says Elizabeth Solomon, vice president of marketing at Samsung.

In case the news hasn't already been spoiled for you, Samsung just officially revealed two new phablets, and the updated Galaxy Note 5 is easily the more fascinating of the pair. It's the sleekest, most powerful Note yet (obviously), but -- more importantly -- it's also the most elegant. In fact, after spending a little time with the Note 5, it began to feel like the sort of device that might change a Note naysayer's mind about the "giant screen-writing phone" formula entirely.

It's that time again, friends. Samsung wasn't going to let a load of highly descriptive leaks spoil the show it's got planned for us, so let's get the full lowdown on what the company's actually been working on together. Our guesses? Well, a new Galaxy Note, for one, not to mention a super-sized version of the Galaxy S6 Edge just because. With any luck, Sammy's got plenty more in the wings that haven't been spoiled yet -- maybe that Project Orbis/Gear A smartwatch or some juicy Samsung Pay news. Don't worry though: We'll take everything Samsung's unpacking and pack it into this here liveblog (along with an algorithmically prescribed amount of sass for good measure). The event starts at 11am Eastern, but you can join us early for commentary leading up to the big announcements. Let's do this.
