Capcom has confirmed that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has been delayed for the European PSN. There is currently no official release date for the title in the region and no explanation was given for the hold up. North America is still expected to get the title today with its special Tuesday edition of the PSN update (due to the Thanksgiving holiday). European Xbox 360 owners should still be able to pick up the game when it launches on XBLA tomorrow.%Gallery-34986%[Via PS3 Fanboy]

While US gamers will be able to enjoy Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on PlayStation Network today, Europeans will not be as lucky. For reasons unknown, Capcom's 2D fighter has no set released date across the Atlantic. That means our European readers are going to have to make a stealth attack on the American PlayStation Store, or they'll have to buy the game on Xbox LIVE Arcade -- the game will be on Microsoft's console tomorrow in Europe.

Now that we have a release date, Capcom decided it to be the opportune time to announce the pricing for remake Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Deep breath, because it isn't cheap. According to Capcom's John Dianomon, SSFIITHDR will release to the Playstation 3's PSN for (drum roll) $14.99. True, this isn't an official price announcement for Street Fighter on the XBLA, but unless Capcom decides to sell it for a different price on each network, we think it's a safe bet that Street Fighter will cost Xbox gamers 1200 Microsoft points. A bit expensive, but re-drawing old sprites is no cheap task.[Via Shacknews]

Either intentionally or unintentionally, Capcom announced (using a screenshot, no less) that November 26th is the release date for their upcoming XBLA release Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Yes sir, in their press release regarding the new NXE Street Fighter "branded destination experience", they included a screenshot that spills the release date beans. The screen grab (seen above) explicitly says that SSFIITHDR will be "Coming Nov 26 to Xbox LIVE Arcade" ... pretty cut and dry, eh?

click to enlarge Capcom has just announced that a "branded experience" for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will launch tomorrow on the New Xbox Experience and, in doing so, may have given away the release date of the much-awaited game. An official screenshot of the themed Marketplace section prominently lists Wednesday, Nov. 26 as the day the game will launch. It's already known that the game has been submitted to both Microsoft and Sony for final approval. The SSFIITHDR section of the XBLM will contain downloads related to the game, including the recent SSFIIT theme for Pinball FX and both free and premium NXE themes, the latter featuring "extensive high-definition graphical layers that take over your Dashboard."Capcom recently launced a branded storefront on PSN's PlayStation Store, which is where – should its release fall in step with the 360's – the PS3 version of SSFIITHDR could go live on Nov. 27. We've contacted Capcom for comment.

PS3 fans haven't heard any news in regards to Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix in a long, long time. Xbox 360 owners had a chance to participate in the beta, but it was plagued with problems that were never fixed, if that makes you feel any better. The lack of news has lead some to conclude the game has been delayed; but fear not, in an interview with The Street Fighter Blog, associate producer Rey Jimenez reveals the game is on track for a 2008 release. "We're on track to release the game this year and barring any unforeseen catastrophic event, that should not be changing." He also told SF fans to expect an announcement of the exact release date shortly.Other elements covered in the interview range from the possibility extra characters via DLC (not happening) to whether the fighters will have their original colors selectable (yes, they will be). Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix's recently extended "open beta" got a technical hadouken this morning, addressing a number of the issues faced by the redrawn brawler, from connection lapses to frozen consoles. Other changes include Ken's newly-nerfed dragon punch, while Capcom says that the overall online experience has seen around a 50% improvement. Notes a post on the company's blog, "While we can't do anything about high ping times, we've optimized the gameplay experience so that it's less noticeable and smoother," some of which can be seen in video form here. Still, those pining for more characters to pummel will be left wanting. According to Capcom, adding additional fighters was "technically not possible for the patch." We'll just have to wait until we get our thumbs on the full game to get our Cammy on.

The Super Street Fighter II Turbo Hyper Deluxe Your Mom HD Remix beta started yesterday and, for those who just can't bring themselves to buy Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3, we've placed some videos of what the beta looks like after the break. Although we received numerous complaints yesterday that the beta wasn't working properly, this seems a good a time as any to link the definition: Beta. For those who are playing the SSFIITHDR beta -- and actually have it working properly -- what do you think?

Just in case you've completely forgotten why you really bought Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 on Xbox Live Arcade in the first place, allow us to jog your memory: the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta begins today. To access the beta, owners of Commando 3 should select the "SFII HD Remix Beta" option from the game's main menu, which will take them to a blade where they confirm the download. The SSFIITHDR beta will reside in the demo section of the games blade. The beta will give players the option of using only Ken or Ryu in various online modes or in local two-player matches. Remember, this is a beta, so the actual purpose of it is to stress-test the network code for the multiplayer modes of the game. The beta will run until around August 20 or whenever Capcom decides to pull the plug. Don't worry, you'll probably get bored of Ken and Ryu by then.

We'll be honest, at this point we wish Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix would finally release just so we never have to double-check that we spelled the title's name correctly again, but we still have this beta to get through. The Capcom Blog says the beta will begin June 25 and can only be accessed by purchasing the Xbox 360 version of Commando 3, which released today on XBLA.On June 25, owners of Commando 3 will gain entry to the SSFIITHDR portion of the menu, which will take them to an XBL blade where they can download the beta. Capcom reiterates that the beta is unfortunately only available on Xbox 360 and not PS3. The release of SSFIITHDRWTFGTFOBBQ simply can't come fast enough.[Via X3F]

I'm not a Street Fighter fanatic, but I've enjoyed the series over the years. So with this casual approach, I recently tried the XBLA beta of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, available soon to buyers of Commando 3 on XBLA. The full version will be out this Summer for that system and PSN.Frankly, I don't even remember which character I played. It doesn't help that my only choices were Ken and Ryu, who have nearly the same moves. My helpful opponent reminded me how to do some of the special attacks; I was far out of practice on the Hurricane Kick, but I could throw fireballs right away.%Gallery-9066%

We always love checking out new sprites for the upcoming (deep breath) Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (whew!). Today we bring you two of the latest additions, M. Bison and Cammy. Now, we're not knocking scantily clad women in video games -- far from it -- but something about this Cammy sprite is just wrong. It's like a train wreck. We don't want to stare, but we can't look away. If you find yourself with a similar conundrum, you'd best make the jump and check out the new sprite of M. Bison.

With all the fuss surrounding Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, we decided to shoot a few questions over to the folks at Capcom Digital. Despite the gorgeous new look, there are a few concerns about the new iteration of the series. Hardcore fans are worried about how new sprites will affect years of heavy practice and study. Will the redesign render you years of hard earned skill moot? What kind of Live support will the game have? What about revisiting other franchises? We got the answers from SSFIITHDR's producer, Rey Jimenez.

Just so you fanboys know, that shot of T. Hawk is full resolution, from Super Street Fighter II HD Remix, of course. Capcom Digital posted that image, complete with an analysis of how they remaster frames to incorporate the new artwork. They use Sagat's standing Roundhouse as an example. Rey then demonstrated how the art is broken up into tiles, and they use those as a guide for when they're redrawing the frame. This prevents a scenario causing a foot to go through an opponent's head due to a hit detection issues. A good read, and it also shows the comparison shot of T. Hawk, as well as the line art for Sagat. Go take a look!

Behold, another sprite from Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix has been released all made over and it's Guile! Just look at the shading on his 100% steroid grown biceps and the subtle blending on his camo pants. Yes, the the SSFIITHDR artwork fever has touched us all as we fall in love with each HD'ified character. The only thing we question is whether the stance featured in the artwork above is humanly possible by a guy. Seriously, that's got to hurt Guile, that is unless you want to share with us your dirty little secret. More HD Guile artwork available after the jump.[Thanks, DeadPlasmaCell]

By now you probably know that we're pretty excited about Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. We've pored over every morsel that Capcom has doled out and we're always ready for more. Well, today is no different. The Capcom Digital blog has uploaded more images of the upcoming game (in addition to confirming that Puzzle Fighter is coming next month). The new images detail the steps that go into recreating each original sprite in high definition. Illustrated in the image above, we can see each step. Starting on the left and moving to the right, artists first take the original sprite for reference, then block out the basic shapes in the darkest colors. Next, they add details and some shading. Finally, they add the final details and BAM! you've got an HD sprite. Check out the gallery below for high resolution images of all 4 steps.%Gallery-3974%

The new Capcom Digital blog -- which exclusively covers Capcom's downloadable titles -- is open for business, and they've added yet another HD sprite from Super Street Fighter II HD Remix for Xbox Live Arcade. This time we get a look at Akuma (last week we got a peek at Ken). As an added bonus, they've included his original sprite for reference. The blog contains a brief article about the genesis of SSFIITHDR, which notes that the game's name is intentionally long and intended as a joke for long time Street Fighter fans. You can read the article by clicking the "read" link. See more images of HD Akuma after the break.

It was recently announced by Capcom that they would be releasing a new version of Street Fighter II on Xbox Live arcade. Not only is Capcom bringing Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix to XBLA, but it is also giving the entire game an HD makeover (hence the "HD Remix" in the title). Racket Boy has gone into great detail analyzing a slide that came from the Capcom press conference discussing the game. In the image above you can see several iterations of Street Fighter sprites. On the left is the original Ryu sprite from SFII. Next to that is a sprite from Guilty Gear, the current standard bearer for high resolution 2D fighters. Next to that is a Ryu sprite from Street Fighter III, the highest resolution entry in the series. Now, you've seen what was, so what is Capcom doing for the remake?
