New dial-in experience! Set up Fuze Meeting before the show if you want to join in live. It's that time for the last time, where we wrap up a bit of news and commentary on this week's TUAW Talkcast. We'll be chatting about all good things, and how sometimes they must come to an end. Tonight we have special guests to help us send the show into the West: Friends of the Show Jeff Gamet and Christina Warren. Also keep in mind this will be the final episode of the TUAW Talkcast, so if you are interested in joining us live, you have tonight to make that a reality. Reminder on new-style talkcasting: With some help from the fine folks at Fuze, we're using a new system to record the show. This should let everyone listen in live -- and, if you want, raise your hand as you would in the Talkshoe room to get unmuted and chime in. You can join the call in progress (meeting # is 20099010) at 10 pm ET from any computer via this link; if you download the Mac or Windows Fuze clients ahead of time, you'll get better audio and a slicker experience, but browser-only will work fine. Just click the phone icon to join the audio once you're in. Using an iPhone or iPad? Grab the native clients from the App Store and get busy. (Even Android users can join the party.) Still feel like using the conventional phone dial-in? Just call 201-479-4595 and enter the meeting number 20099010, then press #. While the Fuze web and native clients have a chat channel, we'd like to reserve that for host participants, requests to talk and other real-time alerts... so the full-on chat for the show will appear in this very post at 10 pm tonight. You'll need Twitter, Facebook or Chatroll credentials to participate in the chat. We'll remind everyone to check back in at that time.

All-new dial-in experience! See below -- do not call into Talkshoe, we won't be there. Be sure to set up Fuze Meeting before the show if you want to join in live. It's Sunday, and it's time for the TUAW talkcast! Looking ahead to this coming Tuesday, it's the all-speculation, all-anticipation edition of the Talkcast. Apple's autumnal "everything but the iPhone" event is right around the corner, so what will we see? (And what won't we see?) And what does Apple's recent hiring spree focused on fashion-industry executive veterans mean for it all? Bring your speculatin' shoes and your opinions to our free-for-all, come-as-you-are weekly live podcast. We'll be joined by some special guests and it should be a blast! Join us at 10pm ET, won't you? With some help from the fine folks at Fuze, we're using Fuze Meeting to record the show (rather than the legacy Talkshoe system). This should let everyone listen in live -- and, if you want, raise your hand as you would in the Talkshoe room to get unmuted and chime in. You can join the call in progress (meeting # is 20099010) at 10 pm ET from any computer via this link; if you download the Mac or Windows Fuze clients ahead of time, you'll get better audio and a slicker experience. Just click the phone icon to join the audio once you're in. Using an iPhone or iPad? Grab the native clients from the App Store and get busy. (Even Android users can join the party.) Still feel like using the conventional phone dial-in? Just call 775-996-3562 and enter the meeting number 20099010, then press #. Your patience and forbearance with our new tech is appreciated in advance. For the time being, the podcast feed of the show will continue to originate from Talkshoe and should be there within 24-36 hours. See you tonight!

All-new dial-in experience! See below -- do not call into Talkshoe, we won't be there. So far, using Fuze Meeting for our call-in process is going mostly OK -- but this will be Kelly's first week in the hot seat, so be kind! Just as before, the text chat will be in this very post when the show begins, back at our usual bat time of 10 pm ET. Tonight we're going to look back at the week that was: every crazy product announcement, OS preview and Mac Pro video; every Craig Federighi dig at leather-wrapped calendars and shortages of green felt. It's the WWDC wrap show, featuring our special guest Ross Rubin of Reticle Research (and, you know, our own humble pages)! Plus, since Kelly is hosting, there is bound to be some unique content from the House of Crackpot Theories. Do join in. To review: we're trying a new way to connect on the Talkcast. With some help from the fine folks at Fuze, we're leveraging a Fuze meeting room to record the show. This should let everyone listen in live -- and, if you want, raise your hand as you would in the Talkshoe room to get unmuted and chime in. Here's how it goes: You can join the call in progress (meeting # is 20099010) at 10 pm ET from any computer via this link; if you download the Mac or Windows Fuze clients ahead of time, you'll get better audio and a slicker experience, but browser-only will work fine. Just call 775-996-3562 and enter the meeting number 20099010, then press #. This is an experiment, of course, so your patience and forbearance is appreciated in advance. For the time being, the podcast feed of the show will continue to originate from Talkshoe and should be there within 24-36 hours. See you tonight!

    05.19.2013

Once more we come to that point in the week where we practice a time-honored tradition, the Sunday Talkcast. Tonight's show is a special one, as we are going to be joined by The Man, The Myth, The Legend: Jim Dalrymple, of Loop Insight. We'll be talking about The Magazine, among other things. I have heard tell The Beard may be joining us as well, so if you join us, do be on your best behavior. When The Beard is frightened, it doesn't end well. As usual, the Kelly Show means Aftershow, so you should come by for that as well. Since it's really all about you, the community, do see if you can join us, won't you? To participate live, you can use the browser-only Talkshoe client, the embedded Facebook app, or download the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for +5 Interactivity, you should call in. For the web UI, just click the Talkshoe Web button on our profile page at 4 HI/7 PDT/10 pm EDT Sunday. To call in on regular phone or VoIP lines (Viva free weekend minutes!): dial (724) 444-7444 and enter our talkcast ID, 45077 -- during the call, you can request to talk by keying in *8. If you've got a headset or microphone handy on your Mac, you can connect via the free X-Lite or other SIP clients (aside from Skype or Google Voice), basic instructions are here. Talk to you tonight!

I'm filling in for the regular crew tonight, so we'll talk about some of the news from the last week: Will new Macs be unveiled at WWDC? Is it news when a podcaster switches networks? Are Windows Phones really kicking iPhone butt in China? Your calls and questions help us make the show the best it can be. To participate on TalkShoe, you can use the browser-only client, the embedded Facebook app, or download the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you should call in. What do you do when there's nothing really amazing going on in the world of Apple? You make the news! Rumors and speculation will be our fuel for tonight's episode of the TUAW Talkcast. This is my first Talkcast hosting stint in a while, so I've invited some amazing people who can hopefully generate tons of utter B.S. to make up for the lack of real news. Of course, we do have the Apple Q2 2012 earnings call coming up on Tuesday, so perhaps there's a chance to see if the Talkcast regulars can do a better job at forecasting Apple's revenues and earnings than professional Wall Street analysts can. Your calls and questions help us make the show the best it can be. To participate on TalkShoe, you can use the browser-only client, the embedded Facebook app, or download the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you should call in. It's Sunday, which means it's time for the TUAW Talkcast. One of the fun topics for the evening will be to see how many participants have picked up a US$99 or $149 HP TouchPad to use as a drink tray or for recording their own version of "Will It Blend?" There will be much more to yap about as well. I'm not sure if anyone else from the TUAW Team will be there this evening, but be sure to join in for the fun and games. It's really all about you, the community, so please join me won't you? To participate, you can use the browser-only Talkshoe client, the embedded Facebook app, or download the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for +5 Interactivity, you should call in. The proprietress of the House of Crackpot Theories is haunting Disneyland this weekend and Mike Rose is off at summer camp, so tonight's Talkcast is just all of you and me. There are some fun topics to argue about discuss, including the lack of enterprise-grade hard drives in the new Time Capsules, a surge in Mac laptop production, Skype for the iPad, more news about iCloud, the release of the last version of Snow Leopard, and the controversy surrounding iMovie Pro Final Cut Pro X. There won't be an aftershow tonight, as I'm old and cranky and need my sleep. And get off of my lawn, you darn kids! It's that time again kids, and this week we have TONS to talk about! We had a media event which included not just an official appearance by Medical Leave Steve, but loads of Apple news as well! We got our first look at the iPad 2, and a peek at iOS 4.3. Add to that the launch of Joint Venture and sightings of the new Thunderbolt laptops in the wild, and it's been quite the week to be a Mac geek. Remember it's "buy one get one free" when I'm hosting: Come for the show, and stay for the aftershow! A healthy dose of TUAWTF is a very good way to wrap up the weekend. Your calls and questions help us make the show the best it can be, otherwise I'm just talking to myself! The doors have closed, the carpet has been disposed of, the booths have been dismantled, and the TUAW team is, for the most part, back home from Macworld Expo 2011 in San Francisco. It seems like it was only yesterday that we were setting up Booth 1012 at Moscone West to prepare for the Expo (see photo at right). It was an amazing and exhausting week, and for the TUAW blogging team, it was also a blast meeting literally hundreds of you who listen to the TUAW Talkcast each Sunday, watch TUAW TV Live on Wednesday or read the site every day. Tonight at 10 PM ET (7 PM PT) we'll do a wrap-up of our favorite hardware, software, people and moments from Macworld Expo 2011. To participate on TalkShoe, you can use the browser-only client, the embedded Facebook app or the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you should call in. It is time! This week we have plenty to discuss, including the Mac App Store's debut and the white Verizon iPhone confirmation. As such, this calls for a freshly-baked batch of random speculation, so tonight I'll be hosting live from my House Of Crackpot Theories. Editor's Note: Ow ow ow. We suffered a deeply frustrating TalkShoe fail this week and we were not able to do the show as scheduled. Our apologies to all our listeners; we'll be back next week on Sunday as scheduled. This week on the talkcast (which is what we like to call our podcast, since it's over on the interactive TalkShoe service), we'll be talking about all of the most interesting stories out of Cupertino in the last week, including two stories about the culture of Apple, and two brand new Mac apps that are raising some buzz. Additionally, we'll continue talking about what kinds of gifts are going around this year, and the potential for a few iPad-exclusive publications. Here's the master page to listen or join in on the show. To participate live on TalkShoe, you can use the browser-only client (just click the "TalkShoe Web" button on our profile page at 10 PM on Sunday), the embedded Facebook app, or the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you should call in. To call in on regular phone or VoIP lines (take advantage of your free cellphone weekend minutes if you like): dial (724) 444-7444 and enter our talkcast ID, 45077 -- during the call, you can request to talk by keying in *8. (That's a toll call, just so you know.) If you've got a headset or microphone handy on your Mac or your PC, you can connect via the free SJphone or X-Lite SIP clients or by using the TalkShoe client's ShoePhone tool; basic instructions are here. We'll kick things off at 10 PM ET/ 7 PM PT this evening. See you there!

While the little Trick or Treaters are out pounding the streets tonight in search of candy and mischief, we'll be scaring you another way -- with the TUAW Talkcast! Remember that you can also listen to past episodes on Talkshoe or subscribe to the Talkcast podcast in iTunes. Why do I think it will be scary? Because there wasn't much news last week, so we'll be opening the mics to you, TUAW readers! We'll take your calls on Talkshoe and open up the discussion to a lot of Apple-related topics such as the Verizon iPhone, the problems with iPhoto '11 that were hopefully fixed with the update on Friday, and more. To participate on TalkShoe, you can use the browser-only client, or you can try out the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you should call in. It's a very digital day today, so we're celebrating by starting the TUAW Talkcast 10 seconds later than normal to capture the true silliness of being fixated on digits. The past week was pretty fascinating: our very own Mike Schramm was bringing us loads of Apple gaming news from GDC Online 2010 in Austin, Texas, the Verizon iPhone rumor bubbled up again, iPads are showing up on the shelves at Target and Walmart stores, and Apple TV news continued to dominate our headlines. We'll be talking about those and other topics tonight on the Talkcast, and we'd love it if you joined us. To participate on TalkShoe, you can use the browser-only client, the embedded Facebook app, or the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you should call in. It's Sunday, which means it's time once again to get ourselves into a TalkShoe chatroom, and have a lively talk about what's been up during the last week of Apple news. Tonight on the show, we'll be talking about Microsoft's stance with Apple on Blu-ray, the arrival of VLC and Google Voice on the App Store, the coming glucose meter for the iPhone, and if we have time, we'll chat a little bit about Stevemails and just what they mean. Should be fun -- tune in if you're around! Sunday night is the funnest night of the week, when you can join the TUAW staff for an hour or so of live banter about what's happened in the Apple world in the previous week. This week, we'll also be chatting about the mystery Apple press conference on Wednesday, which probably isn't too much of a mystery given the past history of September press meetings. It's also the time of year when the kids are going back to school, so we'll talk about some of the best Apple and third-party products and software for students of all ages. It's the second day after the Apple press event, and there's still a lot of buzz in the air about the press conference and its outcome. While we'll probably skip on singing The iPhone 4 Antenna Song for you tonight, we'll have plenty to talk about on tonight's episode of the TUAW Talkcast. As usual, you can join in on the fun! We'll be live at 10 pm ET, taking your calls and questions as best we can. To participate on TalkShoe, you can use the browser-only client, the embedded Facebook app, or the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you should call in. For the web UI, just click the "TalkShoe Web" button on our profile page at 10 pm Sunday. To call in on regular phone or VoIP lines (take advantage of your free cellphone weekend minutes if you like): dial (724) 444-7444 and enter our talkcast ID, 45077 -- during the call, you can request to talk by keying in *8. If you've got a headset or microphone handy on your Mac, you can connect via the free X-Lite SIP client; basic instructions are here. Of course, the full TalkShoe client includes its own 'Shoephone' VoIP tool as well. For MP3 streaming on iPhone or iPad, you can try this link once the show starts (may or may not work).
