Microsoft has released a free-to-play Forza game on Windows 10, and it'll be available on iOS and Android later this year. As such, Forza Street will be the first entry in the series to hit platforms other than PC or Xbox.

We hope you weren't thinking of scoring Forza Horizon 2 on the cheap now that Horizon 4 is almost here. Turn 10 and Microsoft are removing the open-world arcade racer and its add-ons from the Xbox Games Store on September 30th. You can still play it if you have a copy, but you'll have to shell out for one of the later games if you just have to get your fix. The developer didn't explain the move beyond saying that the title was "end of life."

Future Forza racing games will not feature loot crates. Today, developer Turn 10 announced that it is removing loot crates from Forza Motorsport 7, and that this fall's caRPG Forza Horizon 4 won't feature them at all. "While we've never charged money for prize crates in Forza Motorsport 7, their presence in the game has continued to be a source of controversy," the studio's Alan Hartman writes.

Now that Phil Spencer is managing Microsoft's broader game platform strategy, who's going to fill his shoes? Now we know: Microsoft has appointed Matt Booty, the overseer of the company's Minecraft teams, as the corporate VP of Microsoft Studios. He'll watch over all of Microsoft's own game publishing efforts, including Halo's 343 Industries, Gears of War's The Coalition and Forza's Turn 10. This isn't just about handing over the keys, though -- as Spencer explained to VentureBeat, it's also about improving the company's first-party game business.

Final Fantasy XV's Regalia hot rod is coming to Forza Horizon 3 next week. So yup, you can continue that game's epic road trip across Horizon's digital Australia come August 1st. Assuming you've played either game on Xbox, next week you'll get an Xbox Live message containing a download code.

Forza Horizon 3 players on Windows PCs just got a lot more than they bargained for. When Microsoft and Playground Studios posted the January car pack update, they briefly released the wrong version (likely a developer build) of the racing game. This not only prompted a massive 53GB download -- basically, re-downloading the entire game -- but created havoc with your saves. If you started a new profile in this version, it wouldn't be playable in any other release.

Steering wheel support is essential for any racing simulation that wants to be taken seriously. And now, some four months after launch, the free-to-play Forza Motorsport 6: Apex is finally ready for the pricey -- and extremely precise! -- accessories. The PC game will play nicely with a number of wheels from Logitech and Thrustmaster (including the latter's very nice T300RS). A post on Xbox Wire notes that more wheels will be supported later this month.

Microsoft and Turn 10 definitely aren't shy about turning the Forza Motorsport series into a competitive gamer's dream. They've unveiled the Forza Racing Championship, a company-run league (no third-party collaborations here) that invites anyone to race for real prizes. Most details aren't available yet, but the championship will kick off with Forza Motorsport 6 in the summer. And don't worry, you'll still get something out of it even if you have no intentions of making a name for yourself. Anyone who has played Forza 6 is getting a code for a free Ford GT Le Mans car, so you'll have something new to try when you're racing purely for fun.

  • 'Forza Motorsport' comes to Windows PCs this spring

Forza Motorsport is one of the precious few realistic racing games to hit the mainstream, but you've had to play it on an Xbox so far. You typically have to try games like Live for Speed or Project Cars to get your fix on a PC. Well, you won't have to make that hard choice for much longer -- Microsoft and Turn 10 are bringing the series to Windows 10 PCs. The upcoming Forza Motorsport 6: Apex is a free, distilled version of FM6 that shows what the previously Xbox One-only title can do with all the brawn of a gaming PC behind it. It makes full use of DirectX 12 to produce convincing visual effects, and it'll run in 4K if you have the monster graphics hardware needed to do the resolution justice.

Can't wait until November 10th to wander through a desolate nuclear wasteland? That's a little weird, dude -- but if you need something to tide you over until Fallout 4 hits stores, Forza Motorsport 6 may have the ticket: starting today, players will be able to download a Fallout-themed 1956 Ford F100 for free.

Most attempts at turning the Fast & Furious movies into video games haven't exactly set the world on fire, but here's one that might be worth playing. Microsoft, Turn 10 and Universal have teamed up for Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious, a slightly awkwardly-titled Horizon 2 expansion that has you scoring cars for the Furious crew's missions. It should have the same open-world racing that you saw in the latest Forza title (generally a good thing!), but with 11-plus cars from the movie franchise, including Dom's killer '70 Dodge Charger R/T above, and Ludacris doling out racing challenges. Don't own Horizon 2? No worries -- the expansion is standalone and doesn't require the base game to play. Whether or not you're a fan of Brian, Dom and company, it won't hurt much to try this out, either. The Fast & Furious add-on will be free on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One between March 27th and April 10th, after which it'll cost you a not-too-outlandish $10.

Now that Forza Motorsport 5 is dishing out realistic driving, it's time for the Xbox-exclusive series to swing back to open-world arcade racing: meet Forza Horizon 2. While the announcement at IGN doesn't show much (unless you really like box shots), it promises a few big upgrades for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One gamers, including a weather system that hasn't been in previous Forza titles. You'll also get an adaptation of Forza 5's Drivatar technology that should deliver slightly more authentic (read: mistake-prone) AI opponents based on your friends. Naturally, Xbox One players will get a visual upgrade at the same time. You'll have to wait until the fall to give Horizon 2 a spin, but we suspect that Microsoft and developer Playground Games will have more to say about it at E3 next week.

Months after its release, Forza Motorsport 2 is still unwilling to go quietly into a Gran Turismo 5 Prologue-induced night. The game will get a new DLC pack on Wednesday, March 19, that will cost fans (and anybody else, for that matter) 400 points ($5).For your five bucks you're going to be getting 13 new cars including the 2008 Audi S5, 2006 Maserati MC12 Corsa and 2008 BMW E92 M3. We'd love to tell you more about the offerings, but we know literally nothing about cars. We can safely guarantee though that they are all fast. And made of metal. Forza fans finally have something to be excited about. After tooling around for months with the same ol' boring cars, Microsoft has announced new downloadable content for Forza Motorsport 2. Technically, there are two bits of DLC, including one free car and an additional pack of ten cars for 400 MS Points. The free car is the 2007 SEAT Leon Cupra. The pay content includes cars from all over the spectrum, including American muscle, European sports, and Japanese tuners. While no specific date is given, the content should be on Xbox Live Marketplace sometime this weekend. See the full list of new cars after the break.

Forza fans out there should take note that the first batch of downloadable content for Forza Motorsport 2 is now available. There are two content packs to download. The first of which is the Nissan Tournament Pack, which includes the 2007 Nissan Altima, 2007 Nissan Sentra, and 2007 Nissan 350Z. Oh, and we should probably mention that the Nissan pack is free. The other pack is the Peugot #8 turbo diesel 908. If you want this ride, however, it's going to cost you 50 MS Points. Still, we don't remember the last time we got a car for less than a buck (virtual or otherwise) so it's not that bad of a deal. Now download, play, and be merry.DCEmu also informs us that a tournament will soon be kicking off on August 18. The tournament will be an all out Nissan Sentra showdown between 256 players, with the finalists competing in Los Angeles. We assume further details on the tournament are forthcoming. In the meantime, you might want to start tuning up those Sentras. Finally, a Nissan Sentra customization contest is also in the works. In the contest, players will compete to create the best custom paint jobs. More details should be available on XboxLiveTournament.com starting August 10.

  • Forza 2 patch performs general maintenance

If you haven't already noticed, a new title update has been released for Forza Motorsport 2 fixing random bugs and completing some general game maintenance. Big changes include the temporary ban of the overpowered Lotus Elan, a deny on gifting or reselling of cars with locked paintjobs, and the removal of the host option to boot players. Other update fixes include the rotation of cars in the auction house and various scoreboard fixes. Overall, it sounds like a successful update to us. Also, current high ranking Forza 2 gamers will be happy to know that the dev team decided to NOT reset the learderboards and are instead focusing on removing invalid leaderboard scores individually. So, if you used the Lotus Elan to achieve greatness your score will be wiped clear off the leaderboards. Now get back to racing kids.

We won't spoil the picture for you, but let's just say we spent four hot minutes in the dark with the guy on the right. You will have register for the Uncle Gamer forums to participate, but that seems a small price to pay for a free game, no? Hit the "read" link for full details.

  • 'Heil Hitler' car auctioned in Forza 2, exposes kink in user-generated gaming

    by

Microsoft and Turn 10 might be determined to seek and destroy acts of hatred and discrimination plastered on Xbox Live, but the publisher and developer of Forza 2 couldn't act fast enough to prevent a 1957 Mercedes 300SL, defaced by pro-Nazi symbols and sentiments, from being offered through the game's online auction mode. 360-gamer recently pointed to the unsettling item, criticizing the moderators for their inability to keep this kind of content off of the Xbox Live servers; or at least promptly remove it (apparently the car's been Live for a while).Whether adolescent mischief or true delusion, a small percentage of user-generated content is always going to incite "discrimination, hate, or violence towards one person or a group." While Microsoft clearly defines the boundaries of condemnable content in its Online User Policy*, the company fails to suggest how it might protect its users from being victimized by such content. Probably because it can't.
