If you use the Vivaldi browser with a Razer Chroma-enabled device, you'll find your surroundings lit up with a different color based on the website you're visiting. The browser's latest version comes with Chroma integration, which dynamically syncs colors from the website on your screen -- Facebook will switch a Chrome-enabled keyboard's lights to blue, for instance, while YouTube will change them to red. To activate the feature, simply go to Themes under Settings, tick the box next to "Enable Razer Chroma integration" and then choose which device (keyboard, mouse, mat or link) you want to sync.

Standing up and walking over to a light switch is so passé, apparently. To stand out from the competition, Vivaldi has added Hue light controls to its upstart desktop browser. With the latest version, 1.5, you can now link your smart bulbs under the "Theme" settings page. Select which lights Vivaldi should control and you'll then get an intriguing light show -- specifically, the bulbs will illuminate automatically depending on the "color of the web." A gimmick? Absolutely, however Vivaldi CEO Jon von Tetzchner has hinted at broader and possibly more useful functionality in the future.

Jon von Tetzchner, former Opera CEO, launched Vivaldi with the intention of making a "true successor" to the Opera browser. Today, his company is releasing the latest version of Vivaldi, and it comes with the fancy features Opera was famous for, starting with custom mouse gestures. They're pretty easy to set up: simply go to Settings, choose a command, such as "reload page" or "close tab," and trace the gesture you want associated with it.

Do you miss the days when it felt like Opera was focused more on avid web surfers than the broader public? So does Opera's former CEO Jon von Tetzchner. He just released the finished version of Vivaldi, a web browser that caters primarily to power users that thrive on customization and shortcuts. It has Opera mainstays like Speed Dial (quick access to favorite sites from new tabs), but it also has tab stacks, mouse gestures, annotation, browser sessions and even the option to view websites in a sidebar. In short, it's all about removing clutter and speeding things up. Vivaldi even supports Chrome extensions (it's based on Chromium), so you shouldn't have to scrounge for replacement add-ons.

For a while, Opera was a power user's web browser -- what you chose when other apps just didn't have the right mix of clever tricks and shortcuts. The company's switch to Google-based tech dropped some of those features, however, leaving you in an uncomfortable spot if you were a fan of the old interface. Thankfully, you're not out of luck. Vivaldi, a company co-founded by Opera's ex-CEO, is launching its own browser to appeal to a more demanding crowd. You'll still get Opera mainstays like the Speed Dial page (for fast access to pages you like), but you'll also get customizable keyboard shortcuts, tab stacks and page-specific notes. There are a few nice touches, too, such as a navigation bar that changes color to match the theme of the site you're visiting.
