YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has published some thoughts about the year ahead for the platform. But as well as looking forward, she took a little time to reflect on recent events, including the Rewind 2018 debacle. The widely derided recap of YouTube's year is the site's most-disliked video with almost 16 million thumbs down ratings, and even Wojcicki's own kids thought it stunk.

Like clockwork, the 2016 edition of YouTube's annual Rewind retrospective video is here to sweep us back through all the whimsy and virality that made its way across the streaming site in the past year. For 2016, YouTube lined up an impressive roster of over 200 creators and artists like Hannah Hart, Casey Niestat, the Slow Mo Guys, Unbox Therapy and (of course) James Corden's Carpool Karaoke team to recreate the most popular videos, memes and songs from the past year, including the bottle flip heard round the world. The whole package is wrapped up in a new mashup by The Hood Internet and remixed by Major Lazer, but first: the Rock and his infamous fanny pack get to do the intro.

YouTube may not be the first internet giant to serve up a year-end retrospective this week, but it's making up for that in style. The video service has posted the 2015 edition of its annual Rewind video recapping the year's trends, and this one pays an ode to more than just the usual internet celebrities and viral clips. On top of mainstays like iJustine and Rhett & Link, the look-back also includes gaming stars like Markiplier (on the left) -- a plug for YouTube Gaming, to be sure, but also a tribute to the rise of Let's Play videos. You'll get your fair share of dancing, too, whether it's in a cage or in retro clothing.

With this year finally coming to a close, YouTube wants to make sure you haven't forgotten about the memes, moments and people that stood out throughout 2014. Using some of its most popular content creators, the website has posted its YouTube Rewind video covering the past 12 months, which has become a tradition for the Google-owned site since a few years ago. Dubbed Turn Down for 2014 (because TD4W, amirite?), the video mashup plays to the tune of hit songs like All About That Bass, Fancy, Happy, Let it Go and, of course, Turn Down for What. YouTube also revealed its Top 10 list of music videos, one that was topped by Katy Perry's Dark Horse and sits just shy of 716 million total views.
