This year's BlizzCon will feature a no-holds-barred fight to the finish. Sadly, that doesn't mean that an official MMA tournament event will be taking place; it just means that the World of Warcraft Arena Invitational World Championships will be going down, pitting teams against one another for glory, honor, and the satisfaction of taking home up to $120,000 dollars. Who wouldn't like that? The eight teams selected for play will be fighting in a best-of-seven format, starting with the Nagrand Arena and moving on to other maps at the selection of the losing team. The matches will last until elimination or until 15 minutes have passed, whichever happens first. Those unable to attend BlizzCon on November 7th and 8th will be able to stream the matches online, although no details on doing so are yet available. If you are attending, though, get ready to watch the best of the best mix it up in the arenas.

The latest Singularity trailer --- with no actual gameplay -- totally makes us wish we had one of these timey-wimey continuum-altery devices at parties. It'd be so handy for recovering spilled drinks. Also, we'd use it to keep our dogs in perpetual states of puppydom. Hmm, come to think of it, that device would be super convenient. Somebody should make one for real -- what could be the harm?

  • RZA wraps up mocap for Activision game

Bobby Digital has been fully digitized, as hip-hop icon RZA recently tweeted about motion-capture work he completed for an unnamed Activision game. Additionally, RZA posted two images from the session on his Facebook page (one pictured above) and gave props to Activision -- and specifically the development team he worked with -- for showing a true appreciation for hip-hop and "our work" (perhaps an allusion to Wu-Tang's extensive catalog of music and a possible hint as to the scope of the mystery game). The vague tease from RZA leaves us with few other clues. One reasonable guess is that RZA was mo-capped for inclusion in the next or some future iteration of the DJ Hero franchise, but he's not known as a "DJ" per se and is more accurately credited as a producer, among other creative roles. Roughly a decade ago, RZA was one of the Wu-Tang characters featured in the Activision-published Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style fighting game for PS1. [Via MTV Multiplayer]

Well, someone in Sony's software certification lair is having a blast. Infinity Ward community manager "fourzerotwo" has noted on his blog that the $10 Variety Map Pack for Call of Duty 4, which hit Xbox 360 last week, has entered the certification process for PlayStation 3. Unless it's discovered that the downloadable content melts console innards, the "monstrously huge" number of PS3 players shouldn't have to wait much longer before getting shot at in the four new environments.Though further details should become apparent later this week, expect the map pack to arrive alongside the PS3 version of Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition.
