What is Aquatopia? We finally had a chance to play last week's Eye download. Of course, using the word "play" might be a stretch. The interactive screensaver takes advantage of the Eye by allowing you to tap on the top of the water. Some fish will follow the motion the camera detects, which is an interesting novelty ... but that's all it is.Unfortunately, Aquatopia simply doesn't engage enough to warrant a purchase. Yes, it's only $2 -- but that could easily go towards more involving affairs. What Aquavita is sorely missing as a screensaver is the ability to launch when the PS3 is idle, akin to Folding@home. That simple addition might make it far more worthwhile. Forcing the game to launch defeats its "screensaver" purpose.Visually, Aquatopia is okay. Seeing yourself in the reflection is meant to simulate the feel of looking into glass and it works. With just a little more interactivity, like the ability to drop fish food, we would've enjoyed this experience a lot more. Just pass on this one.%Gallery-8664%

  • PS3 ways to appreciate the environment: Afrika, Aquavita, Planet Earth

The incredible power of PS3 can be used to bring some of Earth's most beautiful environments and creatures to your home. For example, the mysterious upcoming title Afrika looks to be quite the visual feast (HD trailer, after the cut). We don't know much about the game, or how it plays. However, we know the game will help us learn more about this unique environment. With it, we may be able to understand even more why so many people are working to try and save this ecosystem, and the animals in it.We know almost nothing about the upcoming Aquavita as well -- but we do know this much: it's going to be an Eye-enabled title. With the camera, the PS3 can become a virtual aquarium. Once again, it looks stunning, almost real. But it's not meant to be a replacement for the real thing. Once again, this environment faces real threats on a daily basis, and it's up to activist organizations to help protect the various aquatic ecosystems. As beautiful as both Afrika and Aquavita are shaping up to be, let's hope it serves as a reminder as to how precious our Earth is. A simple screening of Planet Earth on Blu-ray will turn anyone into an environmentalist. Yeah, the Earth looks great in 1080p -- but imagine how good it looks in real life. PS3 owners have tons of ways of appreciating the environment -- but will they take action to help protect it?%Gallery-8663%%Gallery-8664%

As Phil Harrison said at E3, over 80 PSN titles are going to slide our way before the end of the fiscal year. The big Leipzig show is coming up and rumors are three of these titles will get announced and detailed there. The three games below are the ones that are most likely to get such announcements: Aqua Vita Operation Creature Feature Trials of Topoq That's not to say they are getting announced or detailed, but that's where the pendulum appears to be swinging. Now, Aqua Vita was actually announced a long, long time ago but there's never really been any detail on the title. The others sound like some sort of arcade-style games, but not necessarily analog-stick hungry shooters. We've got lots of those. So, we'll take this time to let you decide what these games are all about.[via N4G]
