The folks at Stootsi.com have been known to offer some pretty good deals in the past but, frankly, this one takes the taco. What's the big deal? Today, Stootsi is offering 360 Pro consoles (you know, the one with a 20GB hard drive) for a mere $189.99. Throw in $6 for shipping and you've got a helluva deal. Now, before everyone runs off at once, you should know that the consoles being sold are refurbished, so buy at your own risk. They do come with a 60 day warranty, for what it's worth. We invite anyone that has bought from Stootsi before to share their experience in the comments.Still ... 190 smackers? That's even cheaper than the rumored price cut.

  • Canadian Deal of the Day: DualShock 3 for $25

We know some of our readers here are from Canada, so we're tossing this Canadian-only promotion out to you. Best Buy has a pretty sweet deal on $25 DualShock 3's -- that's a savings of more than 50 percent off. There is one catch though; you can only get the discounted price if you purchase a copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. The total for the game and the controller would come out to about (we really mean aboot) $65, so that's roughly the same as any regular game without a controller. Definitely worth it if you've yet to own either Prologue or rumble for this gen.[Thanks farfisa!]

  • Would You Rather ... In Your Mind's Eye Edition

In our continuing effort to bring you fresh and interesting content, X3F presents Would You Rather ... a weekly feature that asks you the hard questions. The point? If you had to choose one or the other, which would you go for? This week's WUR was a user submitted question that really made us think, especially coming back from our local gaming store. At 1,200 MS points a pop, the Xbox Originals platform seems like a steep entry into the "classic" prev-gen titles. While many of the games can be found for a lot less than their digital counterpart, some of the recent additions are going to a premium price if they can be found. What we hear from the community is that the pricing structure of the XBO program is out of wack for the most part. This week we want you to forget about the price in the equation and consider the content only. How important is physical media to you in the wake of the increasingly digital age? Do you prefer to stack your games to line your room like a protective castle wall, or are you fed up with hard copies of the game and wish you could get everything digitally? Let's pretend we're made of money this week, if only for a moment, and ask yourself when it comes to those Xbox Originals... %Poll-12129%Feel free to share the reasons for your vote in the comments. We'll share the results of the poll during the next edition of Would You Rather ... which hits X3F every Wednesday.Last weeks WUR results can be find after the jump ... click here to download those results!

  • Rock Band for $148 on Amazon

    03.26.2008

Rockers everywhere, take note: Amazon is currently offering the Rock Band Special Edition -- which includes the game, microphone, drums, and guitar -- for $147.99. As Amazon notes, that's $22 (or 13%) off the regular price of $169.99. These kinds of deals tend to sell out quick, so all the frugal virtuosos out there had best jump on it. No, seriously, why are you still here? Go get some cheap Rock Band.

  • 'Deal' of the Day: Turok for $40

    by

    03.04.2008

Well, this one comes as a surprise ... okay, not really. Amazon has the abysmal Turok listed on sale for US$39.99. If you order now, you'll get a free copy of the game's strategy guide. While a guide sounds like a nice incentive, it would take much more than that scant extra to entice a purchase from us.You know, doesn't this really makes you wonder how bad this game really is? Think about it, the game gets a third of the price slashed off within only a sliver over a month into the game's release. Our review sums it up: "Unfortunately, as it stands right now, this is a rather flawed game that hides the truly clever mechanics the team was attempting." Any brave souls willing to take this offer up?[Thanks, Trevor!]

  • Friday deal: Half price 360 controllers

    01.25.2008

So, do you find yourself with an Xbox 360 and only one controller? We don't blame you. Those things are expensive, and for only $10 more you could buy a brand new game. That said, you'll need more controllers to enjoy some vibratory goodness while playing Rez HD next week. So, what's an enterprising gamer to do? Why not pick up a 360 wireless controller for only $24.99? The folks at Stootsi.com are offering them for just that price today only, so if you want one, you'd best jump on it now. Now, before you go plopping down your hard-earned money, you should know that these are open box controllers and not necessarily in new condition. They do come with a 30-day warranty though, which is on par with what you'll see from many used game stores. Still, buy at your own risk, and please, share your opinions of Stootsi.com if you've shopped with them before.[Via Paranoised]

  • Oops: Tesco accidentally sells 360s for 33

    by
    Richard Mitchell
    Richard Mitchell
    11.09.2007

"One Xbox 360, please.""Very good, sir. That will be £33."This is the conversation we imagined ourselves having with a Tesco employee on our imaginary trip to jolly old England. It could have happened too, as Tesco recently (and accidentally) listed a killer Xbox 360 bundle for the low, low price of £33.24 (~$70 US). The offer included an Xbox 360 with wireless controller, Viva Piñata, and Forza Motorsport 2. It was, in short, a hell of a deal. From the looks of things, someone neglected to add a zero to the bundle's price, which should have been ten times larger. As one might expect, the mistake has since been rectified, though not before customers managed to place orders at the discounted price. One customer had payment accepted for thirty-nine orders, though they have yet to be delivered. Apparently it is illegal for a company to change the price of a product once payment has already been accepted. The Tesco website, however, states that if a mistake in price is made, the company is not obliged to abide by the mistaken price so long as the customer is contacted prior to the item being shipped. We get the feeling there will be lots of disappointed bargain hunters out there.

  • CCP encourages players to master their own destiny, double box

    by
    Chris Chester
    Chris Chester
    11.01.2007

Never let it be said that CCP doesn't support their hardcore players. They've announced a program for EVE Online dubbed "The Power of Two" that will give existing players the ability to subscribe to a second account at a reduced price for six months. Players have to act quickly however, as the deal expires by the end of the week."Be the captain of your very own fleet and master of your own destiny! Current EVE Online subscribers may purchase a second account and get the first six months for a reduced price. Log in and follow the link to take advantage of this special, but hurry! This offer ends November 4th."For most MMOs, this sort of scheme would be useless to players, as you could just roll a new character on your existing account if you were really keen on having another avatar in-game. With EVE's passive skill leveling system, not to mention the ways players can make money through corps, having two accounts and/or double-boxing it can actually yield significant results. At least, if you have that kind of time.[Via WarCry]

  • DXG's DXG-110 gives you 10 megapixels for (well) under $200

    by
    Evan Blass
    Evan Blass
    11.01.2007

Yeah, sure it's no Canon or Nikon, but those heavy hitters aren't offering you a 10 megapixel point-and-shoot for under $200, and DXG's new DXG-110 can even boast a brand name Panasonic CCD in its drab gray housing. With an MSRP of $170, you can almost predict all of this model's specs without reading the press release, so the 3x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD, ISO 800, and 32MB of internal storage should come as no surprise. Also supported is VGA video at 30fps, perhaps the highest-end feature you'll find here. Some might suggest that spending a few more bucks for a few less megapixels would be a better move, but we'll simply tell you that the 110 --with its bundled Mr. Photo 3 software and AA batteries -- is available immediately.

  • Europe: help MS sell 360s, get 10 free XBLA games

    by

    10.24.2007

Todo Juegos (translated) is reporting that Microsoft is planning a new promotion for Europe. Said promotion should run between November 1st, 2007 until January 31st, 2008. The gist of it is pretty simple. Just get a friend to purchase a new 360 at some point during the promotion, attach a copy of the receipt to a special coupon (PDF link), mail it in, and both you and your friend will receive ten free Xbox Live Arcade games. The games reportedly offered are: Sensible World of Soccer Sonic the Hedgehog Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting Bomberman LIVE Marble Blast Ultra Spyglass Board Games Small Arms 3D Ultra MiniGolf Adventures Assault Heroes Zuma Deluxe Not a bad deal at all, especially if you're on the convincing side and not the purchasing side. We can't guarantee that the offer is real, but the coupon certainly looks legit. If any of our European readers have heard rumblings of this offer -- especially if you can find an English version of the coupon -- please let us know in the comments.

  • Fifty dollar LCDs lack stands but are "not stolen"

    by

    10.18.2007

If you're looking for a cheap way to get your multi-monitor setup on, you probably couldn't do much better than the $50, dodgy-brand, 17-inch LCDs being offered by random e-tailer HCDI Trading. Of course, there's no such thing as a free lunch, and that rule certainly applies here, with this lowly-spec'ed display (12-millisecond response time, 500:1 contrast ratio, 260cd/m² brightness) lacking so much as a base -- meaning that your Matrix-style array will be wall-mount only. Reassuringly, HCDI claims that these units are "not stolen" and goes on to admit that "we need the money" as two of the top ten reasons you should buy their product. Also, shipping will add another twenty-five bucks to your total, which is still actually a pretty small price to pay in order to, as HCDI puts it, "further shame your Etch-A-Sketch." P.S. 1,000 experience points to the first reader who can nail down the branding on this sucker.P.P.S. Ding ding ding! We have a winner: meet the discontinued Sharp LL173CB. Experience points for all!
