Gravity's very-different-looking Double Dragon 2 remake, subtitled Wander of the Dragons, breathes fire onto XBLA on April 5 for 1200 MSP. After not hearing anything about it in 18 months, the game surfaced out of nowhere via an achievements listing earlier this month.Major Nelson announced its release date in his XBLA update today, which also notes Games on Demand arrivals for Assassin's Creed 3 today and WWE 13 next week on April 2.The Xbox marketplace major also announced a number of upcoming deals for the platform, in addition to those in the spring sale starting today. Up until April 1, a metamorphic army's worth of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and War of Cybertron content is half-price including the games themselves. The following week sees several XBLA games also go half-off, including Retro City Rampage, Axel & Pixel, and the territorial vernacular showdown that is Quarrel. For more details, head to the major's office.

Achievements emerged today for Gravity's 3D XBLA remake of Double Dragon 2, subtitled Wander of the Dragons, a bit surprising really since we haven't heard anything about the game in 18 months. The remake, based on the arcade version of Double Dragon 2: The Revenge, was originally earmarked for a September 2011 release, a window it missed somewhat. However, today's listing on Xbox360Achievements doesn't just suggest there's still life in the game, but also that it's due for release soon.Wander of the Dragon, developed by the Gravity-owned Barunson Interactive of MMO Dragonica fame, doesn't much resemble the original game, mixing up a more modern-looking style of beat-em-up with different character designs, as you can see for yourself in the video above - bear in mind that footage is of what was shown back in 2011.

The good news: Double Dragon 2 definitely appears to be coming to Xbox Live Arcade. The, uh, different news is that it's a 3D remake of the arcade game. According to Co-Optimus, the game will be titled Wander of the Dragons -- not "Wanderer," apparently -- and is being developed by Barunson Interactive, a Korean developer best known for its side-scrolling MMO, Dragonica. Wander of the Dragons is based on the arcade version of Double Dragon 2: The Revenge, and features new 3D graphics and revamped gameplay. Fans hoping for a faithful remake are in for something of a shock, as the character designs are radically different from the originals, though some may appreciate the more modern approach to beat-em-up gameplay. According to Co-Optimus, the game is slated for a September release with a price of $15. Check out some (possibly upsetting) footage embedded above.

The free-to-play game Dragonica has entered open beta in Europe as of June 10th. Dragonica is a 3D side-scrolling MMO developed by Barunson Interactive and operated by gPotato (Gala Networks Europe Ltd.). The title is currently offered in English, French, and German languages and has very low system requirements, so it should run well on older hardware or even on netbooks from what Gala Networks Europe states.Just for additional clarification, this open beta is for the EU's Dragonica operated by gPotato, not to be confused with the North American version of the game titled Dragonica Online, which we previewed at E3 2009.

We haven't heard a great deal about Dragonica Online before now, but it seems as though it's been cruising through its testing phases quite successfully under our noses. The game is an English adaptation of a fairly new Chinese MMO called Dream Dragon, and features 3D side-scrolling combat in a free-to-play format. Embedded above is an old video we found on Youtube that will give you an idea of how it works -- comparisons to MapleStory are inevitable. The game's publishers THQ*ICE have sent along some screenshots of a few of the bosses you'll find in-game, and we've put them in a new gallery for you to check out. The main thing to point out here is that a boss wolf, for example, doesn't just look like a slightly-different-colored regular wolf, which is always nice to see. If it's starting to look like your kind of game, make sure to visit THQ*ICE's official Dragonica Online site and register an account, as there's a preview beta test coming very soon.%Gallery-63222%
