Welcome back to The Queue, WoW.com's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.I'm not much of a Jazz person, so when I set out to counter the John Coltrane that Adam used in The Queue yesterday, I was a little worried. Fortunately, while digging through my music collection to find something useful, I remembered that I had a trump card up my sleeves. Old Betty Boop cartoons, some of the most disturbing things you will ever see in your life. All of the best ones come packed with some incredibly old school Jazz. Now, some candy for your eyes and ears: Cab Calloway's Minnie the Moocher in a Betty Boop cartoon.Docp asked..."What happened to the Hunter column, Scattered Shots?"I'm glad you asked! It just made its glorious comeback yesterday, with a brand new writer that some of you may recognize. Go give the latest Scattered Shots a read.

We won't lie -- Betty Boop is a curious choice to us, but we will admit that it's entirely more unique than Hello Kitty. At any rate, fans of the lovably lady who just so happen to live in France can apparently pick one up from Bouygues Télécom. Though, we'd recommend you shuffle on down in a hurry, 'cause the limited edition nature could mean that these will be all claimed in the near future. As for the phone itself, you'll find a relatively simple slider design, microSD card slot, up to three hours of talk time, a VGA camera, FM radio and built-in MP3 player. All yours for the low, low price of €129 ($175).[Via UnwiredView]

In a shocking turn of events, DSI Games continues to work on a Betty Boop game despite the fact that linear time continues to move away from the 1930's. If time moved backwards, or perhaps in a cycle, such that we would some day approach the first half of the 20th century, we'd totally understand, but no. Betty Boop is continually losing relevance as we speak. As expected, Betty Boop: Double Shift features Betty dashing through a diner. For what it's worth, it includes ... a bunch of other cartoon characters we vaguely recognize but can't identify. But it's not all Diner Dash. There's an extraordinarily simple rhythm minigame as well!Keep in mind that DSI is also publishing Barnyard Blast, which more than balances out one or two projects like this.

Destination Software has grabbed the video game rights to the popular cartoon character Betty Boop. They've announced a game called Betty Boop Double Shift, in which Betty runs a restaurant.Maybe Destination is at the forefront of a Betty Boop revival? Maybe the character is going to come back in a new cartoon or something? Or maybe the license was really cheap and a gimmick for a take on Diner Dash. Informal survey: who here has seen a Betty Boop cartoon? Who Framed Roger Rabbit doesn't count. There are a lot of them available for free at the Internet Archive, having fallen into the public domain.[Via Game|Life]

Those glorious Saturday mornings filled with cartoons and a complete lack of responsibility will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we're thrilled to hear that some faithful classics are about to get reborn on PBS-HD. According to Bijou Bob's official weblog, PBS has given "the green light" to producers to revive some of the greatest 'toons of the past, and just as soon as sufficient sponsors are found, you can expect to see the renditions in stunning HD, which will likely prove that Betty Boop actually is forever young. The 12-episode season is slated to air sometime in 2007, with "Betty Boop, Tom & Jerry, and the Fleischer Superman cartoons being named as potential candidates for the show." Additionally, you can expect to see see "a short subject, a serial chapter, and a feature film" to go along with the newly-rendered cartoons, all of which will be hosted by Debbie Reynolds. So if you're looking to relive a bit of your past, and don't mind the HD makeover, the Matinee at the Bijou should be right up your alley.[Via ToonZone]

  • Wild Hare, Alten8 to bring a bunch of crappy videos to PSP

In what might be the absolute worst idea in the history of the PSP, Wild Hare Entertainment and Alten8 have announced four movies for its PC2PSP media format. The titles are Popeye 1 and 2, Betty Boop and Zorro and His Fighting Legion Volume 1. What, could they not go the extra mile and give us Little Rascals: The Early Years? The PC2PSP files come on a disc that feature digitally boosted sound and are pre-formatted for the PSP.Earlier this month, we reported Wild Hare and Alten8's partnership to bring content to the PSP. However, I had no idea such atrocities would manifest themselves from this partnership. Unless these companies can actually bring content to us that we care about and aren't older than our grandparents, I highly doubt they'll see any success.
