The contests, they keep coming! This particular one from Blizzard and J!NX is particularly interesting for you budding designers and artists out there, as J!NX is giving you a chance to design the next wave of Cataclysm gear! Using their design kit, you can create designs in the template and upload them for a shot at getting your designs on Jinx clothing. J!NX has been heralding in some pretty interesting design choices over the course of the last year, and they're showing a remarkable amount of foresight into lots of different categories of clothing that gamers and geeks in general would want. When I visited them at BlizzCon 2010, they had an impressive showing of quality stuff ranging from the normal T-shirts to the offbeat murloc hoodie. If this contest is any indication, they are going to be looking for all types of designs, from the subtle to the crazy. Check out the official contest post, where you can find links to the design kit as well as the contest submission forms.

Blizzard is kicking off a year-long Core Hound Pup adoption campaign and is giving away iPads for the best user-submitted epic screenshots of the Core Hound Pup in action. Two iPads will be given away each month to two lucky screenshot submitters. Follow the link over to the contest rules page, and submit your pictures for a chance at an iPad each month in 2011. The Core Hound Pup is gained by adding an authenticator to protect your Battle.net account. Every one of your World of Warcraft characters has access to this companion pet. I think this is a great idea to spread the word about authenticators and account security. Authenticators are the best first line of defense you've got to keeping your account safe, along with safe browsing habits. So do yourself and your players a favor and spread the word about Core Hound Pups and authenticators, and maybe even win an iPad out of the deal. Contest rules are available here. If your account is protected by a Battle.net Authenticator or the Battle.net Mobile Authenticator, then you already know how safe and secure your Core Hound Pup pet can make you feel. But there are plenty of players out there who can still benefit from the companionship and peace of mind that our infernal puppy provides. We're kicking off a Core Hound Pup adoption campaign and we need your help! Simply send us funny, cute, or just plain epic screenshots featuring your fiery two-headed buddy. We'll be picking two of the most memorable images each month in 2011 and awarding the winners with a brand new iPad. If you have yet to adopt a Core Hound Pup of your very own, then don't wait a moment longer, or we just might have to give you the big puppy-dog eyes. Visit our account security site to learn how to get a Battle.net Authenticator or download the Battle.net Mobile Authenticator, available through our mobile apps page or as a free download from the Apple App Store or the Android Market. Adopt a puppy! Protect your loots! Win an iPad! Read the contest rules for details and eligibility requirements, and happy screenshotting! source World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has destroyed Azeroth as we know it; nothing is the same! In WoW Insider's Guide to Cataclysm, you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion, from leveling up a new goblin or worgen to breaking news and strategies on endgame play.

Just popping in with a quick note here; even if you're not going to BlizzCon, you can still enter a contest to have a question answered live by the developers.I braved the red tape for you all to figure out the following: You have to be at least 13 years old. You can't be a resident of North Dakota, Connecticut, Vermont, or Maryland in the U.S., Quebec in Canada, or Queensland, Victoria, or the Australian Capital Territory in Australia. Otherwise, if you're a player in the U.S., Canada, most nations of the E.U., South Korea, Singapore, or Australia, you should be eligible. No word on Russian, Mexican, or Latin American players so you guys may, like me, be ineligible. You have until 4:00 pm PST October 11th (this Saturday) to enter the contest. Twenty contestants will be selected to have their questions answered, and if you're one of the winners, not only will your question be answered, but you'll also get a prize package containing various Blizzard swag items plus a new ATI graphics card. The actual submission form is right here if you're interested (with the laundry list of rules here if you want to make sure you're eligible to win), and you can ask any question related to Starcraft, Diablo, Warcraft, or World of Warcraft. Good luck!

  • WoW EU Valentine's card contest is on

World of Warcraft Europe is now accepting entries for its annual Valentine's card contest. European players are invited to create a card using screenshots and/or original art showing their love of WoW. Twenty winners (five per language) will receive a Gurky key. The key can be redeemed in-game for a summonable baby pet murloc. Looking through last year's winners, I'm very impressed with the original art as well as how creatively players were able to modify screenshots. Hopefully this year we will see even more experimental entries. I'd love to see a few done in the visual style of Baron Soosdon (a nonsenscial but stunningly beautiful Valentine's) or Among Fables and Men.Unfortunately, for you pet completists, the reward Gurky is only available through contests. If you're not a player on the EU servers, you'll still be lacking this prized non-combat pet. Hopefully, the US WoW servers will be offering a similar contest in the future. The WoW Valentine's seasonal event, Love is in the Air, begins February 10 and goes through February 15. Love is in the Air and on WoW Insider. Check out our continuing coverage of the event and our guide to earning the achievement. And you better hurry; the holiday only lasts five days!

  • Blizzard's holiday desserts contest winners

During the winter holiday season, Blizzard challenges us to get our bake on. While thousands hop into the kitchen and design elaborate WoW-themed sweets, only a handful or two will rise above the rest for recognition and lootz. This year definitely did not disappoint. Blizzard chose the top fifteen designs, and is now displaying the winning submissions, many of which are not only creative, but display baffling skill. I wonder if they were all edible. It was definitely difficult to pick out a personal favorite, but I think I'm going to have to choose Leyine's refreshment table. Although it likely was not the most complicated design, it struck me as the most fun. Which dessert would be your pick? What criteria did you use when deciding; creativity, difficulty, overall appearance, or some other? Make real life dishes and crafts based on in-game items with the help of our World of WarCrafts column. Or whip up a tasty snack to keep you going during your gaming sessions with Well Fed Buff.
