BlizzCon 2014 on the way?
Sharp eyes over at MMO-Champion discovered a small change to a page on the official BlizzCon site yesterday. The Terms and Conditions section of the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket page has been updated to read BlizzCon 2014 on the header title. At this time, there doesn't appear to be any other adjustments made to any page on the site -- not even in the Terms and Conditions itself, which still lists the year as 2013. While this is by no means any kind of a definite confirmation that we'll be seeing another BlizzCon this year, it's the first sign we've seen of another event happening. Statements made at a panel at BlizzCon 2013 indicated that Blizzard very clearly didn't want to take another year off from the event. This year marks not only the tenth anniversary of World of Warcraft, but the twentieth of the Warcraft franchise -- which is more than enough reason to throw another convention, even beyond the multiple games being released this year. Although we don't have any real confirmation, information about BlizzCon is usually released in the spring -- so we might just be hearing more about the event soon.
Reminder: Free live stream of the BlizzCon opening ceremony, e-sports
BlizzCon is upon us! If you haven't purchased a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, you will still be able to watch the opening ceremony for free by visiting BlizzCon.com. It all starts Friday at 11 a.m. PDT (2 p.m. EDT). E-sport events including the StarCraft II WCS Global Finals, World of Warcraft Arena Global Invitational, and Hearthstone Innkeeper's Invitational will also be free to stream all weekend. The Virtual Ticket gives you access to all of the developer panels and the closing ceremonies spread out over Friday and Saturday, as well as some in-game goodies and VODs for all of the events. BlizzCon attendees to receive free Virtual Tickets
If you're attending BlizzCon this year, you may have already seen the massive schedule of events and panels for this year's convention. In addition, you may have quietly wondered to yourself how exactly you were going to see absolutely everything you could while you were there. The bad news is, there is absolutely no way you're going to be able to physically attend every panel. The good news is that Blizzard is now providing free Virtual Tickets to all attendees as part of the goody bags, so you can catch up on any panels you may have missed after the convention is over. Phenteo If you've ever attended BlizzCon in person, you've probably experienced the existential dilemma caused when a must-see panel overlaps with a can't-miss tournament or other essential event. Since we can't grant you the power to exist in two places at once, we're instead giving BlizzCon 2013 attendees access to Virtual Ticket online streams so they can catch replays of the stuff they might have missed after the show. This year, the code in attendees' goody bags that unlocks the BlizzCon 2013 in-game goodies will also unlock the Virtual Ticket, allowing you to view on-demand replays of the events on the Main and Panel stages for up to two weeks after BlizzCon. You'll only be able to apply the code to one Battle.net account, so keep that in mind before you redeem it yourself (or give it to a friend). source There's nothing more frustrating than having to choose between two really cool panels, so it's nice to see that Blizzard is offering this as a bonus for people attending the convention. Now, instead of having to make the difficult choice of which panel to miss, attendees can wrestle with the question of which panel they'd like to see live, and which they'll check out when they return to the comfort of their own home.
Blizzcon Virtual Ticket goodies revealed
If you can't make it to Blizzcon this year, there's always the option of a Virtual Ticket. Costing $39.99, this gives you access to HD streams of almost everything that's taking place over the convention, including access to every single developer panel, most likely the best seats in the house. You'll also get interviews with designers, artists, and other creative people at Blizzard, as well as all the contests and the closing ceremony. There's also on-demand replays of every piece of content. To be completely honest, it's probably the best way to see all that Blizzcon has to offer -- if you're actually there there's no way you'd see it all! And you also get in-game goodies, which were announced on Warcraft's Facebook today with the image above. It looks like you'll be getting a banner for Diablo, as well as a Hearthstone minion, a Starcraft portrait, and, most importantly, an incredibly adorable Crusader Murloc pet! Look at that little guy, isn't he just the cutest thing? He looks like the murloc version of the new Crusader class introduced with Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, and I want him. I suspect that anyone who's actually attending the con will get all this, and more in the format of physical items!
Can't go to BlizzCon? Virtual tickets now on sale.
Yet again I find myself unable to attend BlizzCon. Deep sads. I work for WoW Insider and I've never gone to the con. But I have in the past availed myself of the Virtual Ticket, which means I can watch the various panels and events streamed live to my computer, and it's on sale again this year. The virtual ticket FAQ answers a host of questions for those of us who can't go to the con, such as: Does buying the virtual ticket get you whatever neat in-game stuff they're going to have at BlizzCon this year? Turns out the answer is yes, but they haven't announced what that will be yet. If you want to watch the whole thing over again after BlizzCon, you absolutely can. What languages will BlizzCon Virtual Ticket be available in? Just english. Sorry, non english speaking peoples. BlizzCon preview sale opens at 10 a.m. Friday for virtual ticket holders
BlizzCon's merchandise preview sale has been going on for BlizzCon ticket holders for the past week, with lots of fun items. Mysteriously, the official BlizzCon T-shirts have absent artwork, signaling big announcements at the main keynote for the event. Virtual ticket holders will be granted access to the BlizzCon merchandise preview sale Friday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. Pacific. All you have to do is log into the Battle.net account that you purchased your virtual ticket under, hit the Blizzard store, and you have early access to all of the BlizzCon official merchandise for the 2011 convention. Probably the biggest surprise is the lack of T-shirt artwork for the official BlizzCon T-shirt, signaling a big, secret announcement that is important enough to revolve the entire convention around. New WoW expansion? Most likely. Cool new artwork to add to a shirt? That's a pretty big deal. Virtual ticket holders will want to get in on the sale quickly, as many items sell out quickly. BlizzCon 2011 virtual tickets potentially giving out last year's pet
Blizzard has posted that it is looking into an issue with players who purchased the newest BlizzCon virtual ticket for the 2011 show. Some purchasers have received last year's pet Deathy after purchasing this year's ticket. Blizzard is looking into whether or not this should be happening; whether or not this was a mistake or a miscommunication, we do not yet know. It is safe to assume, however, that a new pet will become available for BlizzCon 2011, and purchasers of the 2011 virtual ticket should not be getting last year's BlizzCon exclusive Deathy pet. One of the perks of purchasing the BlizzCon virtual ticket is that players are treated to a BlizzCon exclusive in-game companion pet. In 2010, that pet was Deathy, a Deathwing-inspired version of everyone's favorite murloc. As in every previous year, a new companion pet (or a mount, once) has been given to BlizzCon attendees. Players and purchasers were potentially confused, as the new pet for BlizzCon this year has not yet been announced. When Blizzard does announce this year's BlizzCon pet, we'll be the first to let you know.

Unable to attend BlizzCon 2011 in the flesh this fall? No problem. The BlizzCon virtual ticket for this year has just gone on sale for $39.99. The virtual ticket provides streaming access to all convention panels, the Saturday night contests and to-be-announced concert, exclusive interviews, and more. Your $39.99 also nets you the BlizzCon 2011 exclusive pet. You and I both know that when it comes down to it, that's all you really care about. If you've purchased the virtual ticket before and weren't happy with the product, fear not: The online offerings of the virtual ticket have been much improved over the years. In 2009, the DirecTV coverage was shoddy all around, leaving viewers in the dark about half of the panels of the convention. In 2010, the multichannel coverage of all of the panels, the ability to go back and rewatch panels later or fill in gaps you missed earlier in the weekend, as well as the interviews with Blizzard that you can't see anywhere else really made your $39.99 worth it. It wasn't unusual for BlizzCon attendees in Anaheim to watch the panels from the comfort of their hotel rooms via online stream, only venturing out for evening parties and meetups (such as our own!). If you can't physically attend BlizzCon 2011 (or even if you can), it's money well spent. Give it another chance. BlizzCon 48-hour presale now active
Blizzard is offering those who bought BlizzCon 2010 tickets, even DirecTV virtual tickets, the opportunity to buy exclusive BlizzCon merchandise online for 48 hours this weekend. This sale was delayed until Sunday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. PST. As of now, we can confirm that this sale is now active. You can buy the items by going to the Blizzard Store and selecting More Products. Good luck getting your items! Edit: Only Battle.net accounts that were used to purchase tickets are able to see the sale. Virtual ticket sales are on Wednesday.
BlizzCon 48-hour presale delayed due to site issues
Blizzard is offering those who bought BlizzCon 2010 tickets, even DirecTV virtual tickets, the opportunity to buy exclusive BlizzCon merchandise online for 48 hours this weekend -- or at least they were supposed to, hours ago. Right now, the store is completely busted and no one is able to access the exclusive items. Blizzard is on the case, according to a forum post, but there's no ETA on when people will actually be able to make purchases. UPDATE: Blizzard has updated the original post saying that the sale will begin Sunday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. PST.
BlizzCon store's 48-hour online pre-sale
If you've ever been to a convention and seen all of that wonderful swag, you've also seen the lines to procure that wonderful swag. It's annoying to wait in a line for an hour just to buy a T-shirt that you can only get at that venue. Blizzard is bypassing this issue by allowing anyone who has purchased a BlizzCon ticket to grab those unique merchandise items ahead of time and online. No fighting over the last murloc head can cozy or Raynor onesie for your child, just simple online transactions with the goods being shipped directly to your home. This is only for people who have actual tickets to the event. Anyone with a virtual ticket will have to wait until the 13th to get in on their own 48-hour sale. If you don't fall into either of those groups and still want to get in on the swag, then you need to go buy your virtual ticket before 11:50 p.m. Pacific on Oct. 10 to qualify for the sale or you're out of luck. BlizzCon 2010 virtual ticket on sale
For those unable to attend BlizzCon in Anaheim, California this upcoming October, DIRECTV will once again be broadcasting it all (mostly) live online for $39.95 USD. The virtual ticket has just gone on sale this evening so make sure you don't miss out. For you pet/mount collectors out there, this virtual ticket will get you the exclusive in-game item that BlizzCon attendees will be receiving (though we don't even know what it is yet). Last year one of the major complaints about the online stream was the fact that many panels were delayed or possibly not even shown at all due to having only one stream available for many panels happening simultaneously, but it looks like they have a solution for that in place this year. According to the RayV page describing the virtual ticket, coverage has been expanded to four online channels offering 50+ hours of BlizzCon programming with complete coverage of panels, tournaments and announcements plus DIRECTV's own exclusive interviews. Hopefully that means you can watch the events as they unfold rather than watching them on a delay or not at all.
