Samsung rolls out 8 new HDTVs, new 40-inch LED backlit LCD

Samsung's Series 7 / 8 / 9 plasmas and LCDs have broken cover already in Europe or North America, including the slim PAVV Bordeaux 850 (pictured), but Asia gets first crack at the latest iteration of the company's local dimming LED backlighting tech trickling down into the 40-inch LCD size range. Auto Motion Plus 120Hz technology, 1080p, 2,000,000:1 contrast ratios are a must, while also substituting direct YouTube access for the U.S. version's USA Today-powered InfoLink RSS service. No word on the prices the newly expanded Bordeaux line, but we're more interested in how soon the latest in backlighting technology is moving downmarket.

Update: Not first, just new, although that shouldn't sate our appetite for a future LN40A950 one bit. [Thanks to all for pointing that out]

While we found Samsung's IT solutions emphasis here at CeBIT a bit of a yawn -- when executive gets up and tells you that printers are his "personal passion," you know you're in for a wild ride -- we are glad to see that the company is sticking some of its consumer design cues into its business products. Case in point, the T-series LCDs borrow from the "crystal" style elements of the Bordeaux series, but pack in some business-friendly specifications. The SyncMaster T260 is the flagship of the series, with 26-inches of real estate, 1920 x 1200 resolution, 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5ms response time and a DTV tuner option, while the similar T240 hits at 24-inches and brings 0.3 Watts standby power. Inputs include DVI and HDMI and D-sub. More basic displays start at 19-inches, multiple color accent options are available, and everything will be available globally in March.

"Damn, that's one fine ass printer you've got sitting on your desk" isn't a phrase you hear from guests too often -- if ever -- but we'll bet francs to frites that Samsung's new ML-1631K and SCX-4501K 'Bordeaux'-branded models will draw more than their fair share of oohs and aahs sitting next to your rig. With all the info on these laser printers frustratingly confined to Korean, we're hard up to tell you even one damn spec about them save for their thicknesses (12 and 16.5 centimeters, respectively), so forget all that PPM and DPI jazz you'd normally be expecting. Instead, sit back and take in one of the first attempts we've seen in a long time to give the office workhorse a much needed makeover; you listening, HP? More pics after the break....

Samsung expands Bordeaux PAVV LCD lineup: now with 25,000:1 contrast

Just months after upping its line of Bordeaux PAVV LCDs to 17,000:1 in the contrast ratio department, Samsung is outdoing itself once more with the supposedly-titled LN40 (40-inch) and 46F81BD (46-inch). Aside from all that contrast, the sets also boast a sexy black frame, 120Hz Auto Motion Plus technology, 1080p24 support, integrated speakers, HDMI inputs, and System Link, which reportedly enables the display to connect to the internet. No details surrounding price or availability at the moment, but click on through for a few more showcase shots.

Samsung's latest Bordeaux LCDs give 720p some style again

Samsung is adding more midrange options to its overseas Bordeaux lineup, with new LCDs in 23-, 32- and 40-inch sizes. These 720p (1366x768) HDTVs feature 8ms response times, 8,000:1 contrast ratio and 550 cd/m2 brightness on the two larger screens, while the 23-inch is limited to a 4,000:1 contrast and 450cd/m2 brightness rating. The smallest LCD eschews the slick black finish that seems standard for the line, but for just 69,800 yen ($581 U.S.), we'll overlook it. The 40-inch LN40R81B (above) will cost 168,00 yen ($1,398 U.S.) and the 32-inch 99,800 yen ($830 U.S.) when all three are released on the 27th. More photos after the break.

Samsung's Bordeaux PAVV LCDs: 17,000:1 contrast and ACAP

Hot on the heels of their PAVV plasmas come three new PAVV LCDs. The 40-, 46-, and 52-inch models all bring a 1080p resolution to the game with 3x HDMIs and a sweet 17,000:1 contrast -- barely nudging out the trio of Bordeaux LCDs unveiled back in March. These sets also feature ACAP, as in Advanced Common Application Platform for interactive television -- part of the ATSC spec we're familiar with Stateside. However, at the moment these sets are S.Korea-only tagged ?3,200,000 (about $3,424) for the LN40M92BD, ?4,200,000 (about $4,494) for the LN46M92BD, and ?5,400,000 (about $5,779) for the LN52M92BD.

Samsung's latest Bordeaux LCD trio touts 15000:1 contrast ratio

It wasn't too long ago that we caught wind of Samsung's latest Bordeaux sets, but now the firm is one-upping itself by kicking out a new trio in the lineup with even more impressive specs. Jumping from 10000:1 to 15000:1 in the contrast ratio department, the 40-inch LN40M81BD, 46-inch LN46M81BD, and 52-inch LN52M81BD all tout the True Black Panel technology in order to bring "plasma-like blacks" to the LCD HDTV arena, and you'll also find three HDMI ports, "Full HD" resolution, and the obligatory sexy black frame to really set your living room theater off. Unfortunately, further details on the units are scarce, but we do expect all three sets to hit the Korean market soon for $3,518, $4,690, and $5,863 depending on size.

Samsung's latest "Bordeaux" LCD HDTVs boast a 10000:1 contrast ratio

Samsung's no stranger to pumping out displays with a very respectable 10,000:1 contrast ratio, and the firm is kicking out two more with its latest Bordeaux duo. While the company has already bumped the PVA LCD lineup to 32- and 40-inches before, now it's taking things a bit further by adding a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and a trio of HDMI ports, with one being of the front-accessible variety and the others flanking the rear. Additionally, the overall design scheme received a subtle, but much appreciated facelift, as the screens now offer up a shinier coat, rounder edges, and a pair of lovely demonstrators adorning each side. Unfortunately, the nitty gritty on this one is sparse, but as soon as Samsung divulges anything else substantial about these admittedly glitzy sets, we'll be on it.

Samsung updates PVA LCD line with 32 and 40-inch "Bordeaux" models

Samsung has added two new models to its PVA lineup of LCD TVs. The new screens, available in 32 and 40-inch models, have a solid 6ms response rate and 5000:1 contrast ratio. The company has tagged these "Bordeaux," for no reason we can see other than the fact that it gave Samsung an excuse to introduce them with pics of a model holding a glass of red wine. Both models (the TVs, not the one holding the wine) look pretty good, with integrated bases, a slim profile and on-bezel controls. No word yet on pricing or release dates.
