Recommended Reading highlights the best long-form writing on technology and more in print and on the web. Some weeks, you'll also find short reviews of books that we think are worth your time. We hope you enjoy the read. The Internet's Clearly Not Ready to Stream Big TV Events by Brian Barrett Wired Last weekend's NCAA Final Four provided some of the most-watched college basketball matchups in years -- unless, of course, your Sling TV stream didn't work. The newfangled internet TV service buckled under the weight of a wave of new subscribers looking to opt in for the big games. It was just the latest in a line of live-event-related issues web streamers encountered, and it shows that maybe major television events aren't ready to be viewed on the web. So, Sunday's Game of Thrones premiere should be... interesting.

Edward Snowden has discussed his NSA surveillance leaks and their implications with magazines, foreign media and South by Southwest attendees, but a chat with an American TV outlet has proven elusive. However, that all changes next week: NBC has revealed that it's airing a one-on-one interview between Snowden and news anchor Brian Williams on May 28th at 10PM Eastern. While the network isn't saying exactly what came up in the pre-recorded conversation, it promises a "revealing" hour-long session that involves Snowden's media ally Glenn Greenwald. There's no telling whether or not we'll hear anything new. Even if it's just a rehash, though, the NBC interview promises to put the intelligence gathering debate in front of a very wide audience.

In the world of photography, there's one person who stands out for her classic portraits of such notables as John Lennon, Bill Gates, Sting and Queen Elizabeth II -- Annie Leibovitz. In a televised interview with MSNBC anchor Brian Williams, Leibovitz expounded on the use of the iPhone as the "snapshot camera of today." Williams had asked Leibovitz what her answer was to people who asked her what kind of camera to buy, which prompted the photographer to start talking about the iPhone. She said "It's a pencil, it's a pen, it's a notebook..." and is amazed by how many people show her photographs of their children by pulling out an iPhone like "the wallet with the family pictures." In what could be a line from a future Apple ad, she even makes the comment that the iPhone is "so accessible and easy." Be sure to check out the video (just watch out for the ads, though...).
