"I gotta present for ya!" What RTS fan doesn't remember the classic Command & Conquer franchise with extreme fondness? If you're one of the legions of supporters, then this is a good time to be alive. It seems as though C&C is slated for a revival soon, with BioWare working on Command & Conquers Generals 2 and EA prepping Command & Conquer: Tiberian Alliances. The recently announced Tiberian Alliances is being shaped as a free-to-play MMORTS in which players can choose one of three factions (The Forgotten, GDI, and NOD) and duke it out over a war-torn battlefield. Developed by German studio Phenomic, Tiberian Alliances will be playable in a browser and is currently accepting applications for its beta testing program. Will this be the MMORTS for you or will you call in an orbital strike on its prospects? Hit the jump to see the announcement trailer for your first taste of the latest chapter in C&C history.

CVG recently confirmed with EA producer Jim Vessella that the stand alone Xbox 360 release of Command and Conquer: Kane's Wrath will not ship with the touted Global Conquest mode. The decision to remove Global Conquest, a mode that has been quite popular among PC Kane's Wrath gamers, was made after EA discovered that it wasn't a favorite among focus testers. "We found that it was a bit more niche type of gameplay" Vessella told CVG, "the turn-based gameplay wasn't gelling as much with the 360 fan base."But fear not fellow C&C fanboys, the 360 version of Kane's Wrath will still include the exclusive Kane's Challenge modes as well as exclusive Kane video content. And, of course, you can always look forward to unlocking more achievements!

  • Rumor: C&C FPS "Tiberium" headed to 360

According to a recent post on VideoGamesBlogger, the next issue of Game Informer reveals a new FPS set in the Command & Conquer universe. Apparently titled Tiberium, the game takes place after the third Tiberium War and places gamers in control of a GDI field commander armed with a GD-10, a special weapon with four firing configurations. The game features squad tactics and is described as "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter meets Battlefield meets Rainbow Six Vegas." Frankly the this description isn't particularly evocative of anything, other than to remind us at least that said games were good. Other details include the ability to control specialized squads and vehicles and also the inclusion of special powers like calling in an orbital strike (an obvious nod to the RTS roots of the series). Little else is known about the game right now, though we expect more will come to light when the next Game Informer hits the shelves.[Via Joystiq]
