If you're still holding out hope for a Blade & Soul release in North America, you have an admirable amount of patience. But a recent rumor might sink that hope a bit further. Website 2P.com claims to have insider information that points to the development of a Blade & Soul 2, which is good news if you're a fan of the game but bad news if you're still hoping to see an official release of the original. The Shanghai studio behind the concept art was a part of the original team responsible for the game's art direction, so it could very well point to something new in the works. Whether that means a sequel, an expansion, or even an actual release on this side of the pond is all up for speculation. It's too early to flag as anything but a rumor, although the concept art that's been leaked certainly looks as if it comes from the game in question.

How much are you willing to pay for a new swimsuit? How about if that swimsuit is only available for your character in a video game? Blade & Soul has introduced a line of summer swimwear for characters in the Korean version, available either via the game's cash shop or through item trading, but the system for obtaining these suits from inside the game is a bit problematic. During the summer event, players can obtain a watermelon slice by clearing a daily dungeon. These slices are used as tokens to unlock these outfits. The problem is that it can be difficult to actually obtain enough slices through play unless you focus on running dungeons with a single-minded devotion, which forces you toward the cash shop option, which values the suits at $45. Still no word on when the game is being localized, but you can check out the suit trailers past the cut for a peek at what you probably aren't dropping $45 on. [Thanks to bnssswimwear for the tip!]

On Saturday, I spent a downright embarrassing amount of time in Final Fantasy XIV getting a set of clothing that I had no intention of actually wearing. The former part isn't that unusual; I'm a roleplayer, so I'll happily hold on to equipment that I have no use for in game terms if I can see a use for it as part of a roleplaying outfit. But this was precisely the opposite situation: There were no character benefits to be derived from the clothes, nor would I ever have my character parade around Ul'dah wearing it. No, my motivation was as out-of-character as you could get. I wanted a wallpaper. If it weren't obvious, I've been digging on the Firefall Faire event as a whole, both for the general atmosphere and the rather unique reward at the end. And luckily, if you haven't finished unlocking your cheesecake wallpaper just yet, there's still time. So jump on past the break for a discussion of how to win at ash collection, my own thoughts on the event, and yes, cheesecake wallpaper shots. (Hey, I might as well use them, right?)
