Cinco de Mayo server maintenance
There'll be some good ol' sever maintenance for us all tomorrow, lasting from 5:00 a.m. PDT / 8:00 a.m. EDT until 11:00 a.m. PDT / 1:00 p.m. EDT.We are not expecting patch 3.1.2 to drop tomorrow, given there is a new PTR build tonight. That makes the chances a patch will drop highly unlikely.There have been some recent Ulduar nerfs that have come into being, and we're on the lookout for additional hotfixes they'll apply during tomorrow's downtime.
Outspark celebrates Cinco de Mayo with piatas and sombreros
Outspark, home of Fiesta, Secret of the Solstice, and Bread 'n Butter, are celebrating Cinco de Mayo in their own festive, colorful way. How, you bravely ask? Players of Fiesta have the opportunity to purchase the fine steed you see to the right -- a horse piñata to rival those in any local corner store! We hope that this guy's expression is more indicative of enthusiasm than frozen-smiling, mind-numbing terror.In Secret of the Solstice, there's a new "Happy Cinco de Mayo" emoticon and a sombrero that's more than just decorative, it has its own stats. From the press release: "Players should also be on the lookout for piñata monsters that have more than just ordinary candy for players diligent and strong enough to go toe-to-toe with the less-than-deadly beasts." You know, we like Outspark's style. These events will extend beyond the 5th, to last the rest of the week. Go check 'em out![Thanks, Travis!]
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a Halo 3 fiesta!
It's time once again for another 100% Bungie approved and X3F certified Halo 3 Double EXP Weekend! This Double EXP Weekend, we get to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a new Legendary Map Pack required, ten person, social, free for all, Fiesta gametype playlist called "Cinco de Mayo". How appropriate, right? For those who aren't familiar with Fiesta, it's pretty much Slayer but every time you spawn you're given a random weapon or two. Kinda like a drunken, super violent fiesta ... get it? Also, since it is May, Bungie rolled out all the new Halo 3 playlist changes including the addition of a full-time (and ranked) Team SWAT as well as making Social Slayer a 4v4 playlist. Check out the matchmaking updates, go play Fiesta and celebrate Cinco de Mayo the Bungie way.
Celebrating Cinco de Mayo in Guild Wars
Player-driven in-game events are a sign of not only a healthy MMO community, but also a solid game. This is always the case when it comes to Guild Wars and its largest guild and alliance community: LaZy Nation, who is throwing their very own Cinco de Mayo celebration this week.Most appropriate for an event such as this, celebrating Mexican heritage, is the environment of the Asuran Lands which most-closely resemble those of the Incas in Mexico. For this reason, the Cinco de Mayo celebrations in-game will take place in Rata Sum, International District 1 on Saturday May 3rd, 2008 from 4pm to 6pm Eastern. Come show your support for not only this event, but also LaZy Nation for being one of the most charitable and community-driven guilds and alliances in the game.
