Universal Pictures promised it would celebrate its centennial by bringing classics out of the vaults and onto Blu-ray discs and now one of our most anticipated flicks, Jaws, finally has a release date. Steven Spielberg's 1975 hit will come home in "digitally remastered and fully restored" form with an upmixed 7.1 DTS-HD MA soundtrack August 14th. The soundtrack and picture have both been carefully restored in a process undertaken in conjunction with Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment, as they went back to the original 35mm film and repaired it frame by frame. Also packed in will be four hours of bonus features, including an all new documentary The Shark Is Still Working: The Impact & Legacy of Jaws. If you're wondering about the restoration process, there are a couple of samples included after the break, plus a video about it and teaser trailer for the Blu-ray disc -- we're gonna need a bigger boat.

If retailer updates and a trailer on other discs weren't enough, consider this notice that The Incredibles really is coming out on Blu-ray at long last now that Disney finally officially announced it today. The press release after the break has all the details, but other than the 1080p widescreen picture and 5.1 DTS-HD MA soundtrack you'd expect, it also includes all the original DVD extras and a few new ones just for Blu-ray: The Incredibles Revisited roundtable discussion, Paths to Pixar: Story Artists, Studio Stories: Gary's Birthday, Ending With a Bang: Making The End Credits and "The New Nomisan" Island Redevelopment Plan. The four disc combo pack (two Blu-ray discs, one DVD, one digital copy) still has a $45.99 MSRP, Amazon price is $29.99.

Looks like Disney's going all in on that promise to offer Tron:Legacy on Blu-ray 3D day-and-date with the standard release, while it hasn't been announced officially Amazon already has three separate editions available for preorder. Pictured above is the five disc limited edition with Tron: The Original Classic Special Edition and special identity disc packaging, while the others are a five disc set minus the special case and a four disc combo pack that drops the 1982 original. Disney's officially put a date on the Diamond Edition release of Bambi, which will arrive March 1, 2011 in Blu-ray/DVD combo pack edition HD download, or SD download -- DVD only packages arrive April 19th. There's plenty of exclusive Blu-ray features, including never before seen deleted scenes, 7.1 audio track, a deleted song, a peek inside Walt Disney's meetings where the concept of the film came to be, and an interactive game. The biggest addition is that this disc will debut Disney's new "Second Screen" feature on computer or iPad which promises to sync with the film and pull in even more interactive features. It sounds similar to Universal's BD Touch apps, but we'll have to wait and see exactly what it brings to this classic flick next year.

In keeping with plans to re-release two of its 14 classics each year, trailers on the Blu-ray edition of James & the Giant Peach reveal The Lion King (Diamond Edition) and Alice in Wonderland (Special 60th Anniversary Edition) will arrive in high definition next year. No real word on specs yet, but we'd expect to see the same care taken in remastering and restoring the audio and video to its highest quality that's been seen on previous releases. HighDefDiscNews has plenty of screengrabs and the two trailers (embedded after the break) so now with plenty of advance warning you can get the kids ready (or have them, if necessary) in preparation for 2011's obligatory combo pack purchase. Update: The videos are gone, forced down by Disney's legal hounds no doubt, but trust us -- they were real and they were spectacular.

"Scrooge's Wild Ride" is exclusive to the 3D version, but both will have a 5.1 DTS-HD MA soundtrack. At 70-years old, it's hard to think of Pinocchio as a boy anoymore, but he'll be coming to life on Blu-ray as part of Disney's 2009 Blu-ray releases. Approximately seven titles will be released in the Blu-ray+DVD combo packs that families love for portability, including classics that will get the Platinum Edition treatment, like "Pinocchio: 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition" and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Platinum Edition." All in all, the Mouse will be turning more than 30 titles loose in North America on Blu-ray, with about 14 packaged with a DisneyFile digital copy for the kids' viewing enjoyment.
