  • Rock of the Dead coming to Facebook

Our main complaint with Epicenter/Conspiracy's Rock of the Dead was that its zombie-killing, rock-fueled action didn't make the guitar peripheral a central part of the experience. But that's apparently working to its advantage today as Conspiracy has just announced that the game is coming to the very guitar-less Facebook in 2011. No word on when the game is due exactly, but development is slated to start in Q1 of next year and it's a Facebook game so ... what, a couple of weeks after that? No, no we kid. It'll be at least a month.

Click for more firefighting heroes Epicenter Studios has announced an initiative to assist real heroes through the sales of its game, Real Heroes: Firefighter. The studio says that it will donate a share of the proceeds to the Firefighter Cancer Support Network, a charity that aims to "provide timely assistance to all fire service members and their families in the event of cancer diagnosis," though Nathaniel McClure, CEO of Epicenter, says he also appreciates how the charity "aggressively promotes prevention and early detection." So, not only will you save virtual people if you decide to pick up the game, but you could be helping in the recovery of real people in need, too. It's like kind of like a Double Stuff Oreo of justice.Real Heroes: Firefighter is slated for release in June 2009. %Gallery-63399%

  • Target Terror, Anubis II prices slashed to reflect quality

Konami's awful arcade-to-Wii Target :Terror port was a hilarious prank at first, one we were willing to play along with, what with its goofy FMV terrorists and over-the-top 9/11-inspired plot. But the joke immediately stopped being funny when we saw the light-gun game's retail price: $39.99. We crossed our arms, turned our head slightly to the site, gave Target: Terror's box a stern look, and said out loud, "Whatchu talkin' bout, Willis?"Willis must have changed his tune, however, as Amazon has temporarily marked down the game to $15.88, a price more in line with the amount most people would be willing to pay for the 2004 shooter. Grab it before the sale ends! While it won't add enough to your total to make your order eligible for Amazon's Free Super Saver Shipping ($25), you can also pick up Data Design Interactive's Anubis II for a reduced $5.95. Some might feel that's still asking too much the game, however ...[Via CAG]Read - Target: Terror for $15.88Read - Anubis II for $5.95

  • Fifteenmania

GameStop's Game Days sale doesn't really hold too much of interest to Wii owners, other than maybe $20 copies of The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, and Frontman guitars for $40. However, concurrent with the temporary markdowns done for this sale, GameStop has marked down Compile Heart's cephalopod puzzle game Octomania five bucks, to $14.99. Amazon has also marked the puzzler down to $15.Octomania involves rotating 2x2 grids of octopi one space at a time to shuffle them onto a grill, in order to make takoyaki. If that's not enough to make the thing irresistible, it's got a wacky story mode and, most importantly, online play. Of course, that means you'll have to convince other people to buy and play it.%Gallery-15386%

  • Real Heroes: Firefighter finds real publisher

Conspiracy Entertainment obviously wants to ensure that there'll be none of this fake hero business on the Wii, because it's gone and signed up Epicenter Studios' Real Heroes: Firefighter, which it intends to release in the U.S. during Q2, 2009. Because it's been almost a year since we heard anything about the project, this morning's press release kindly reminds us that Real Heroes: Firefighter will utilize the Wii Remote as a fire hose, a fire axe, and a crowbar, all in the name of fighting Epicenter's proprietary "Thinking Fire" technology. Conspiracy CFO Keith Tanaka was also on hand with some quotes about product line-ups and distribution, for which we thank him and move on.[Via press release]

We don't normally cover individual reviews on Wii Fanboy unless we're, you know, writing them. But there aren't enough reviews online of either of these two games to Metareview either one, and we had to make a mention of IGN's reviews of Data Design Interactive's Mini Desktop Racing and Offroad Extreme! Special Edition. These games managed to score 1.2 and 1.0 respectively. That's from IGN, who frequently gets taken to task for their "8-10 review scale."Check out some quotes from these reviews: Matt C says that "To (Offroad Extreme's) credit, the title features a comprehensive "how to play" tutorial, but unfortunately lacks an accompanying "why to play" one." And Mark Bozon says that "(Mini Desktop Racing's) credits mention no game designer at all though, so that explains a lot," as well as labeling the game "another shovelware title that simply needs to be ignored at all costs." The Wii has some bad games, but these two from the creators of Ninjabread Man sound like they've raised (lowered?) the bar. We are now driven by an uncontrollable compulsion to play these two games.[Via NeoGAF]

  • More than just Dragon's Lair coming to the DS

We all knew that Dragon's Lair was going to be making an appearance on the DS. Now, we know when. Dragon's Lair, along with its sequel Dragon's Lair II, will both be gracing the handheld come early 2008. Not only that, but Conspiracy Entertainment also scored the rights to publishing Space Ace (our preferred title out of the lot) on the handheld as well.Nothing much on the Space Ace port and all of the features in Dragon's Lair were previously confirmed. So, be sure to keep an eye on DS Fanboy for future updates on these games.
