When City of Steam threw open its browser-based beta doors to all players, certain classes and races were noticeably missing from the soirée. But some fan-favorites have finally gotten their invitation and will be rejoining the party when the 1.3 patch Tears of the Oracle hits next week; greenskins, dwarves, and Channelers will once again be available to play. And that's not even the half of it! This next patch will also be raising the level cap, expanding questlines, and adding plenty of new things, including the Founder's Annex suburb, a PvP event, a collection system, rare mobs in dungeons, plenty of cosmetic items, and even a new crafting system. On top of that, levels one through nine can resurrect for free in dungeons and the salvage system got an overhaul. So get ready to get your goblin (or hobbe, or orc) on next week! With Aion: Dark Betrayal just a short two weeks away, many eyes are turning (and returning) to the world of Atreia. The Gunslinger and Songeweaver have certainly sparked interest in new and veteran players alike. But 4.0 is more than just the new classes; it also includes an updated crafting system (to create items comparable to those in dungeons and the Abyss) and changes to neutral zone mechanics (to prevent invulnerable healers). To answer some player questions about 4.0 and beyond, developer Seunguk Baek discussed these topics with Massively, touching on lower-level PvP, racial abilities, and even a new type of rift for higher-level Daevas that opens to another dimension entirely. See what he has to say after the break.

  • Huge crafting changes in store for Final Fantasy's 1.19 patch

Final Fantasy XIV players are still eagerly waiting on the delayed patch 1.19, a patch that seems to grow bigger by the day. If you're into crafting, then 1.19 will be the equivalent of a full-scale renovation of your favorite hang-out spot. Square-Enix posted the work-in-progress list of 1.19 crafting changes on the Final Fantasy XIV forums, and it is truly a List of Lists. If you like to scroll, then you're going to be in heaven. This comprehensive list includes new recipes, updated and abolished recipes, and all of the changes to places where you can find, buy and sell materials needed. Several of the new recipes coming with 1.19 won't require as many materials, and fearing an unbalanced economy because of that, the devs have reduced the amount of mats needed for intermediary parts recipes and how much those recipes produce. The devs are also removing the need for copper ingots entirely, as the material will no longer be needed for any recipes.
