LG cuts the price of its curved OLED TV to a vaguely reasonable $7,000
The US price of LG's first curved OLED TV dropped from $15,000 to a slightly less stratospheric $10,000 late last year, but that five-digit sticker was still bound to scare away all but the richest buyers. It's a good thing, then, that LG has cut the 55-inch set's price a second time. You can now pick up the curved screen for $7,000 -- or rather, $8,000 plus an instant $1,000 rebate. It's not a great bargain when you can buy a larger 4K display for less, but those who insist on having an exotic-looking TV in the living room will likely appreciate the savings.
Samsung announces 'world's first' curved OLED, we go eyes-on
Samsung's massive booth here on the CES 2013 show floor has barely opened and already we're getting a look at one of its latest TV innovations. Sitting pretty in a far roped-off corner and hailed as a "world's first," is the company's Curved OLED TV. Not much has been divulged about the uniquely shaped set at this time, but official details should be forthcoming quite soon. In the meanwhile, check out our gallery below. Update: Although it's been on the floor for some time now, Samsung's just gotten around to making the Curved OLED set official. Details are still meager at best, but we do know that its contour is intended to create a "life-like" experience that's more pleasing to the eye. Brad Molen contributed to this post.
