Christian Lassonde, of Millions of Us, appeared on the Real Biz in SL show to discuss their work in Second Life. They recently announced that they would be bringing celebrity likenesses into virtual worlds, including SL. Cybergrrl Oh grilled Chris on the important questions, including their investment in the platform, their return on the investment, what kind of metrics they employ, whether it's worth being there, and if MoU will continue to stay. While most of the answers sounded prepared, it was still informative! The mere mention of most businesses in Second Life can send residents into a fit of rage. However, at least one business has done something right. Cisco Systems has been in SL for over a year, and has no plans to go anywhere yet.On last week's episode of Real Biz in SL, Cybergrrl Oh got a tour of Cisco's four islands by Christian Renaud, who famously pledged that he would not travel by plane for the remainder of 2007 in order to help reduce airline-related emissions. After that, she asked him five questions. They even put the shortened Q & A up on the screen for you to read! If you haven't seen the show, you can check it out on the Second Life Cable Network. If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.

In February, the Second Life Cable Network announced a new series, Real Biz in SL. This half-interview, half-tour show centers around Cybergrrl Oh. Each week, she interviews a new guest that has a real business in Second Life and then tours their location.Last week, Cybergrrl asked Marc Girolimetti, of Green Grotto Studios, five questions relating to his work with Playboy. As one of the more popular real life islands, they've seen a decent amount of success. They may even bring the magazine, which is most certainly not link-safe, to SL!We're definitely going to keep an eye on this series. It's smart, funny, and informative!

Second Life is a great place for nonprofits and altruistic causes to connect with like-minded people. Real conversations can be had there, and real friendships have formed through working toward a common goal. In that spirit, Virtual Africa is the SL build currently under development by Uthango Social Investments, a charity based in Capetown, South Africa. They're currently running a fundraising drive through SL for a new Opportunity Center for unemployed job seekers. "The Opportunity Centre is a revamped cow shed that we need to equip with computers, office resources and mentors to assist job seekers, small entrepreneurs and community members in making their own way out of poverty by actively pursuing their dreams," said Dorette Steenkamp, co-executive director of Uthango. "The [e]bizikile fundraising event is meant to bring attention to how bicycles fit into the economy in African cities and rural towns." Basically, residents can buy a bicycle designed by Shukran Fahid of !BooPeRFunK! for L$250, and choose to contribute to a fund for buying a real Capetown resident a bicycle. SL charity organization Charitable Hearts is helping to organize this effort to get the SL community involved in making a real world difference in someone's life. For more information on this fundraiser, contact Enakai Ultsch or Alanagh Recreant in-world.[Thanks, Cybergrrl!]
