It's just a fact that raiding normal or heroic raids is a communal activity. When you said "I cleared Heroic ToES before the patch" what you mean is "We cleared Heroic ToES before the patch" because unless you have a Martin Fury in your bags, you didn't solo it. Progression raiding is always about the group. You don't accomplish things we do. The same is true for arenas or rated battlegrounds - these bastions of elite PvP are group activities, and your success or failure is shared with others. World of Warcraft is an MMO, after all. Even LFR or random heroic dungeons or scenarios are group dependent, it's just that in these cases the groups are assembled for you by the game. You may well queue up for each of these alone, and you may leave and go about your business afterwards just as alone, but the actual raid, dungeon or scenario will have other players in it with you. This is an inescapable, inseparable part of the WoW experience, and it is one of the things I enjoy about the game. However, as much as I do enjoy group activities, as much as I love raiding and going into a dungeon or raid zone with a group, there are times I just want to be alone. And it is this desire to sometimes play at my own pace, to my own schedule, that has me reconsidering my expansion-long disdain for the daily quest structure of World of Warcraft.

First off, howdy. You may remember me from such posts as this Firelands one, or this post decrying pointless elitism, or this one calling for the return of class based quests. As the loveable old codger that I am, I'm here to hike up my waist (note the kicky plate skirt I have on for the purpose) and gripe about things in World of Warcraft that I think could be improved. In some cases these things really bother me. Some of this stuff is on Blizzard, but some of it is based on player behavior, which means we have to fix it. Before I do, though, I wanted to mention a couple of places where they did improve things. Cooking and archaeology, two of my least favorite things to do in the game are much less painful, and so kudos to that. I'm told fishing is better as well, but since I'll never ever fish, I'll just have to take your word for that. And now, onto the firestorm of complaints! 1 - Daily Quest Randomization As much as I personally hate daily quests (it rhymes with 'Pike Ire') I will admit that the implementation on most of the new daily questing for factions in Mists of Pandaria is probably about as well implemented as it could possibly be, and as such I've chosen to focus on an aspect of the implementation that I think is more hit or miss than the rest. That is to say, the way it's determined which dailies you get in a specific day. This is something I notice with every faction but I'm going to pick on the August Celestials because they're the worst about this. I have two level 90 characters working on rep. I have now defended the Temple of the Jade Serpent for four days. I don't want to defend them anymore. Please, for the love of Zod, put in something that checks to see what quests you've done over the past five days and doesn't give the exact same ones to you again, I'm begging you here. How about Niuzao Temple? I'd happily go defend that for a change of pace.

  • Should quest valor points convert once we're capped?

I personally haven't had this happen yet but I know plenty of people who cap on valor for the week by, say, Thursday and then have to run their dailies for rep and get no valor points for them. Apparently Trankos is one of these people. He posted to the forums that he capped on Sunday and then of course got no further valor points from doing dailies. What I found interesting was Taepsilum's response. Taepsilum - Dailies when VP is cap I understand that when you invest some of your time into dailies, ideally you want to be fully rewarded, but if you're already capped, I'm just guessing but that probably means that you've probably got some of your valor points by running dungeons/raids and didn't do enough dailies to get the level of reputation required to be able to purchase more gear. I think planning for this kind of situation is also part of gameplay, trying to be efficient and predicting future purchases is always a good idea. But I do think that this idea has some value and of course, there are many other things that can cause a player to cap on valor points, like levelling a specific reputation and getting items from some raid bosses that are equivalent or better than those that you were planning to get from rep, running too many dungeons instead of doing dailies, etc... I'll pass this idea along to our development team and we'll see what they have to say about it. source What interested me about this is manifold. With the ability to upgrade gear with Justice Points coming in patch 5.1, it would be nice to be able to get more of them. I also like the idea of getting an extra value after capping, similar to how we get more gold for quests once we're capped on XP. Another possibility that comes to mind to me would be to get extra reputation from a daily quest when you're capped on valor. Frankly, I'd like that even more than gold or JP. Mists of Pandaria is here! The level cap has been raised to 90, many players have returned to Azeroth, and pet battles are taking the world by storm.
