Darkfall axes tutorial, for now
Aventurine has decided to temporarily remove Darkfall's Vale of the Custodian, otherwise known as the game's tutorial. The move comes "after some deliberation," and for now players will spawn into the fantasy PvPbox and begin their gameplay immediately. Aventurine's announcement post says that the firm will "be looking into revamping and improving the Vale area to provide a better and smoother starting experience for new players." In the meantime, the devs have created a new seven-minute tutorial video that you can watch after the break.
This screenshot really makes me want to play Darkfall
Have you ever felt that way about a screenshot? It's kinda annoying, really. I don't have time for another game right now, and I don't have the energy to seek out a guild and make new friends (both of which are basically required in the sort of FFA PvP environment that Darkfall offers). So, yeah. I guess I'm just going to sit here and look longingly at that dude's spyglass and think about the good ol' Darkfall days. Darkfall discounts six-month sub, updates weather effects
Aventurine has announced its March Darkfall update, and with it a new promotion tied to the PvP MMORPG's six-month subscription plan. The update features more realistic weather effects. Snowfall and rain will now affect Agon's landscapes as well as buildings, mobs, and player characters. The devs have also added a new clan market system which facilitates goods exchanges within clans and enables the creation of city-based trading hubs. The six-month sub promotion costs $49.95, which amounts to 45 percent off the usual monthly fee. Finally, Aventurine wants you to know about Darkfall's other recent updates which include a new chat system, duels, and the Sinspire Cathedral epic dungeon. New Darkfall video previews the Elementalist role
Aventurine has unveiled another teaser video for its Darkfall Unholy Wars reboot. This time we're treated to a look at the Elementalist role, which features the Air School staples of wind and lightning. The clip is narrated by Al Stellakis, who also serves as Darkfall's lead writer. Stellakis has two and a half minutes' worth of class information to disseminate, so click past the cut to get started. Don't forget that you can look forward to downloading Darkfall on Steam in the near future, as the game has been greenlit by Valve's community.
