Blizzard sent the WoW Insider offices a batch of the brand new DC Series 8 and Premium Series 4 action figures to play around with. As a guy who is currently typing words on a World of Warcraft blog, you can imagine that I appreciate the occasional action figure. I've been impressed with the detail on the DC series in the past, especially the Garrosh and Lady Vashj figures, and was excited to see these up close. Check out this gallery of shots that I took at an expensive studio space in a trendy area in Brooklyn. DC WoW action figures series 8 includes: Confessor Dhalia Brink Spannercrank vs. Snaggle The Black Knight DC WoW premium series 4 includes: Moonkin: Wildmoon Hallow's End Nemesis: The Headless Horseman %Gallery-150480% Also, since I used to be a huge fan of ToyFare magazine and Twisted ToyFare Theater back in 1999, I went ahead and did my own.

Toy Fair 2012 started up on Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, where many companies announced awesome new licensed Blizzard products that we're definitely excited about. The event ends tomorrow on Wednesday, Feb. 15. BlizzPlanet has been on the scene to report back on all of the new products coming stamped with the Blizzard seal of approval. MEGA Bloks showed up with new prototypes for the World of Warcraft MEGA Bloks sets coming soon, with cool catapults and orcish scenary. Giant MEGA Blok Thrall was on hand to pose with fans. Insight Editions showed off its Diablo III: Book of Cain, and USAopoly made one of the biggest announcements with World of Warcraft Monopoly and RISK: StarCraft. DC Unlimited continued to show off its figures for the World of Warcraft series, many of which were delayed for a long time for unknown reasons. However, these figures are coming, and they look great. Check out BlizzPlanet for coverage of all of the licensed Blizzard products showing up at the convention.

Earlier today, the European Battle.net community site announced the release of both the latest set of collectible World of Warcraft action figures and a brand new collection of Alliance- and Horde-themed coins. ... Wait a second, haven't we seen those coins before? Oh. Yeah. We did. We saw them at Comic-Con in 2009. I'm going to cut Blizzard a break on this one and assume it doesn't control DC Direct's production and distribution facilities. So ... DC, this one's for you. Holy crap, guys. Almost three years ago! Three! Well, anyway, if you're looking to spend your hard-earned coins on different coins that aren't worth as much as the ones you started with, you can purchase them on the North American Blizzard Store for $49.99 USD per set or on the European Blizzard Store for £56.95.

  • Mass Effect 2 action figures delayed, second set potentially canceled

According to a now deleted forum post on BioWare's official site, Mass Effect 2's action figures have been once again delayed, this time until April. Google, however, caught the quote from a BioWare spokesperson, who said "Once we get the ME2 Action Figure shipped we will not be working with DC Direct again ... Their handling of this issue has been extremely unprofessional and disrespectful to fans." It also appears that a proposed second set of characters from Mass Effect 2 that were on-track for action figure treatment have been canned, as the figures have been removed from DC Direct's website. As such, the continuing battle for Planet Your Shelf will only be fought by Default Shepard, Grunt, Tali, and Thane when the figures launch on April 27. [Thanks, Ryan]

Wondering what those announced, but mostly unseen DC Direct gaming figures look like? We spotted them this morning at the NY Comic Con, casually posing in a glass case. Most of the items aren't for sale until later this year -- we might find that more troubling if it weren't bank account depletion season (read: Q4).%Gallery-104665%

  • World of Warcraft currency becomes real-world coins

We can easily wrap our minds around the hobby of coin collection -- after all, coins are pretty awesome, and at the end of the day, you're really just spending money on money, making it a relatively low-cost endeavor. However, DC Direct's recently pressed World of Warcraft-themed currency -- which comes in a set of one bronze, silver and gold coin, each featuring a faction leader and major city from the MMO on both sides -- is a bit beyond our understanding. According to G4, these three coins were on sale at Comic-Con for $69.99, though their real-life spendability is negligible at best. Heck, even if you wanted to use them to purchase your Artisan Riding skill and mount, you'd have to shell out well over $350,000 in order to do so. Then again, those things ... aren't real. But these coins are! And, as we've said, coins are awesome. We're so conflicted!

  • Batman: Arkham Asylum ... the action figures!

Holy late money grab, Batman! It appears that in the June 2010 issue of Toyfare magazine will reveal a cadre of the Batman: Arkham Asylum characters in action figure form (as pointed out by Previews). Though the issue will miss the May release date of Bats' Game of the Year edition, it'll arrive on store shelves by early June. June's issue is said to feature "a sneak peek at some of 2010's hottest video games and hottest video game toys," including the Dark Knight, among others. The listing also notes that DC Direct, makers of, well, lots of other video game action figures, will apparently be tasked with putting little Bats and crew together. It probably doesn't hurt that the "DC" in DC Direct is of the DC Comics variety, owners of the Batman IP. All will be revealed on June 9, so get your Bat Credit Card at the ready, folks! • Lich King figure revealed at Toy Fair

Toy Fair started up in New York City yesterday, and as you might expect, there's some nice shiny new Warcraft toys coming out to the event too. Specifically, our friends over at UGO got an exclusive shot of DC Direct's new Lich King. If you're going to feel a bit nostalgic about the poor guy once Patch 3.3 is past and Cataclysm is upon us, I have to say this statue looks like a pretty good way of remembering him. All the iconic details are there, although from this picture, I have to admit Frostmourne looks a bit... small. Of course, that could be because Arthas is in full hulking out threat display there. Overall, it looks a pretty awe inspiring piece, and hopefully we'll be able to get a closer look at it soon. There's more toys to come as well, including these intriguing shots straight from the show, which showcase, among other things, Sylvanas, a worgen, a goblin, and a paladin in Judgement armor.

  • DC Direct also manufacturing Dragon Age action figures

According to Previews' February order form, Mass Effect isn't the only BioWare property getting the action figure treatment from toy manufacturer DC Direct. Located on the form are four listings for statuette'd Dragon Age: Origins characters, including Morrigan, Loghain, Duncan and, everyone's favorite troublemaker, Genlock. No price is listed for these figures, but a release date of September 29 is mentioned. Though we know it's not technically feasible, we're still a little disappointed that we can't get a figure made of our customizable protagonist. We're pretty sure DC Direct wouldn't know to make him look like Ernest Borgnine, but with a horrifically long chin. Nor would they know to call the figurine by his Christian name, Borgnine Mountainjaw. [Via Big Download]

  • Mass Effect 2 figures feature Shepard, if not your Shepard

We already know what you're going to say. While DC's upcoming Mass Effect 2 figure series includes decent likenesses of Thane, Grunt and Tali, the company is way off on its version of Shepard. In DC's defense, however, the company has no idea what your Shepard looks like, so it was stuck with a mold for Default Shepard instead of the real Shepard -- who everyone knows is vaguely Asian and female. According to the scans of DC's solicitation book, posted by Gamervision, the figures are still pending approval, but are due for release August 25 of this year. By then, you may be done with Mass Effect 2, so you can use these action figures to stage your own adventures on Planet Your Shelf.

DC Comics toy line, DC Direct, is adding a familiar (but non-DC) property its upcoming action figure lineup: Ratchet & Clank. Consummate comics blog Newsarama managed to snag a first glimpse of the line, which DC unveiled at today's ComicsPRO 2009 industry event.Prototypes of three series headliners -- Ratchet, Doctor Nefarious and Captain Quark -- have been shown thus far. What? Oh yes, Clank is a headliner, too. He's also one of three sidekick figures which we, er, figure will come packaged with their respective partners. DC Direct hasn't priced or dated the line as of yet, but you can see a high-res photo of its first (and possibly only) wave at the source link.

Series 5 of the DC line of World of Warcraft figures are being beamed about the internet, and WoW Insider has a lovely gallery of them for your viewing perusal. The new figures are all quite nice, but our personal favorite has got to be Rottingham. Why? Well for starters, he's got a nice "come hither" stare... a lovely set of... teeth. Okay he's pretty ugly, but in a cute and lovable sort of way that makes everyone want to hug him, but ultimately decide not to for fear of contracting some deadly virus.Only sad part of this whole piece of news? These beauties won't be available until October 2009. Pity, that. Gallery: DC Unlimited WoW Series 5 Action Figures One of Azeroth's millions of citizens? Mike Schramm showed us the first hint of DC Unlimited's Series 4 WoW figures back during ComicCon, but now the DC Direct website gives us a view of the new statues. The first female "deluxe" collector's figure is being released as part of the new series: Lady Vashj. "Deluxe" mostly means that she's bigger -- she's being hailed as standing as tall as Illidan's sculpt. But, yeah. She looks cool.Your lineup for Series 4 inclues:
