If these ten reasons weren't enough to motivate you into grabbing yourself a copy of Dewy's Adventure, try considering this argument: Amazon has the cutesy labyrinthine game on sale for $19.79.Despite the control issues many reviewers cited with Dewy's Adventure, we have to commend Konami for taking a risk producing an original title, and it's a Wii exclusive at that! It's a shame that it didn't sell very well in any of the three major territories. As usual, we can't guarantee that this deal will be available for long, so take advantage of it while you can.

  • Elebits, Dewy director on future plans and old game music

Gamasutra's Brandon Sheffield spoke to Konami's current de facto head Wii guy, Shingo Mukaitoge, who directed both Elebits and Dewy's Adventure, in an enjoyably in-depth interview about influences, interests, and a bit of game history. Mukaitoge got his start as an architecture student, but moved to games after college, directing console music games for Konami before getting a chance to develop his two original Wii games. When the time came to create the original game, he says, the design followed from the Wiimote -- which seems kind of obvious when you play Elebits, the game of pointing at stuff. The games were more popular in the U.S. than in Japan, which Mukaitoge theorizes is due in part to Japan's reliance on franchises: "Well I've found that mysterious myself, as well, but the Japanese market tends to purchase games that already have previous versions, like franchise games, instead of original ones. Maybe that is one of the reasons. It's not a good thing though..."This startlingly candid interview is worth checking out. Towards the end, Sheffield and Mukaitoge begin riffing on obscure Saturn and PC Engine RPGs and talking about great Yuzo Koshiro music. It's always nice to find out that game directors put some effort into playing games occasionally.

Advertising bottled water in Dewy's Adventure, which you spent $50 for? Not cool Konami and Nestle, not cool at all. Very much unlike the cold, refreshing taste of Slurm. See what we did there? Did you get the joke? No? Well, we're not really all that good at it, but you get the idea.[Thanks, k0sm1k!]

Josh from WiiFolder.com loves Dewy's Adventure, and he's not above inventing his own logic to make you love it as well. He's created a video called "Top 10 Reasons Why Dewy's Adventure Completely Rocks!" Of course, his definition of "rocking" is idiosyncratic at best: KISS, for example, were never known for their "cutesy style." We agree with some of his reasoning: edit mode is wonderful, and the game appears to have excellent level design. We don't think he's going to win any converts with his reasons, but on the other hand, for those of us who already think Dewy looks great, this is a chance to see a bunch of footage.

  • Wii Warm Up: The second tier

Let's put aside the big three for a bit. We all know everyone wants Metroid, Smash Bros. and Super Mario Galaxy. Oh, and Wii Fit. There are a lot of lower-profile games coming out this year that are every bit as compelling. We're thinking about stuff like NiGHTS, the Nintendo-published Endless Ocean, and-- why not?-- even Namco Museum Remix. Someone out there must be more interested in Dewy's Adventure, for example, than Metroid Prime 3. What about you? Which one of the "smaller" upcoming games has done the best job of capturing your attention?

It'll probably brighten your room just from the ambient light. It's bright, is what we're driving at. Bright and colorful. We don't want to overstate too much for comedic effect, so we'll just say it plainly: if this commercial for Dewy's Adventure doesn't make you smile, then you are probably a bad person. Look around your house. Do you see anything that might be evidence of personal badness? Ask your lackey what he thinks. Then try to retrace your steps. Have you twirled your moustache today? Had you just finished tying a damsel to the railroad tracks?(Click on the "New! 3" button to get to the commercial.)[Via GoNintendo]
