Drips and drabs of information about the sci-fi sandbox The Repopulation have been coming in, but as with any title in early development, it's never enough to satiate the masses who want the whole scoop. So consider today's bounty of the first gameplay footage and a lore piece as an appetizer to tide you over until the main course. The gameplay video demonstrates one of the core features of The Repopulation: its city-building system. During the 12-and-a-half minutes the video runs, fans can check out how cities are put together piece by piece using a wide variety of tools and fellow player cooperation. The devs also take this opportunity to discuss the UI, controls, and how alliances work in the game. The team also posted a lore piece called Leesa's Story on the site. The vignette introduces the titular character, a cook who also happens to be a cook, and her misguided adventures going duck hunting. The Repopulation is currently accepting signups for its alpha testing, which begins in June. You can watch the full video after the break. [Thanks to J.C. for the tip!]

Sure, Detn8's duck hunting game looks less-than-great, and the PC version garnered some very vehement ... well, we're hesitant to even call them reviews. Can videos of people laughing hysterically and mocking (whilst pointing) really be called reviews? Where's the line there? But speaking of wanton hilarity, this new Ultimate Duck Hunting video is somehow mesmerizing. We're pretty sure it's the music and the choppy, shouted commands. We got a kick out of it, and hope you will as well. Check it out after the jump.

We aren't sure if Ultimate Duck Hunting is truly the last duck hunting game we'll need. Our requirements for duck hunting games are stringent, you see, and it would take a truly robust and deep duck hunting game to fill the spot of the decisive duck hunting game in our collection. We wonder if the game will really be the authoritative work the title claims it will be.We're actually kidding about the stringent requirements, and like most people, we consider the duck hunting genre well and truly filled since 1985. Have a look at some screens and decide for yourself if you should update your library of duck hunting video games.

Hang on! This isn't some modern Wii version of the NES classic, Duck Hunt. You see, this is Ultimate Duck Hunt-ing, which despite featuring ducks in the process of being hunted, is not to be confused with Nintendo's own and entirely dissimilar Duck Hunt. Right, so Ultimate Duck Hunting is a game in which the player presumably hunts ducks, possibly in the presence of an adorable dog that every so often gets in the way of your deadly rifle shotgun. Just so we're clear on that.Pro-G reports that Ultimate Duck Hunting will be the first foray into gaming for new publisher Detn8 (oh, as in detonate!). It's not entirely certain what has prompted the release of the game -- it's either based on a dubious attempt to cash in on a similar, popular brand (is it really?), or the misguided belief that there's an untapped desire among gamers to hunt ducks on their consoles. We'll find out which one it is when the game releases in the US this June and in Europe towards the end of the year.
