WoW Moviewatch: Dude, Where's My Mount? Episode 9
Warning: Not safe for work, due to vulgar language and sexual innuendo.Apt T Productions has released the new installment of the DWMM series: Dude Where's My Mount? -- Episode 9. Ah, good ol' DWMM. This is one of my favorite WoW machinima series, but also the one I'm almost starting to fear seeing each time.The production quality of DWMM is absolutely perfect for its scope. DWMM is basically a long series of gags, one liners, and sitcom-like comedy. It really is damned funny. In the opening of Episode 9, there's a boat floating in lava. It's a quick sight gag, but I laughed. And then one of the characters is shown fleeing a pack of squirrels, screaming "They're like furry raptors!" Funny stuff. The voice actors now do a great job, and I can't imagine changing anything about that.But, having said that, some of the jokes are making me wince more and more. This episode takes place, largely, in a strip club called "Tigole Bitties." I thought that kind of thing was funny once, I guess, but not so much nowadays. The racial jokes, the boob jokes, and the whole objectification angle kind of makes this whole episode a guilty pleasure, at best. Now, I'm not trying to get into a rant about this stuff, because there's nothing I can say that would convince anyone of anything they don't already believe. WoW Moviewatch: Dude, Where's My Mount? Episode 8 -- Awww Nuts
Some of the language in this movie may not be appropriate for work.Apt-T Productions is back with the well-anticipated Dude, Where's My Mount? Episode 8 -- Awww Nuts. In terms of ongoing, serial machinima, the DWMM legacy has really been growing. Between DWMM and the Chronicle of the Annoying Quest, fan-film viewers are truly starting to get meaningful, full seasons of entertainment.In this episode, our bewildered heroes return from the really real world (man), and land back in Azeroth. After a bit of confusion, they get chased around by dragons. And that's when they find the Elf Girl. Interestingly, the credits to this episode thank Felicia Day. (You might have heard of her.) Was the Elf Girl voice-acted by Felicia? I wasn't sure, and couldn't pick out the voice to be certain. Anyway, hijinks continue, and the pair of heroes find themselves in the midst of a squirrel army.I really feel like DWMM is getting better and better. Like so many serial novels and fiction, the longer the characters exist to gain life and depth, the more interesting they become. The comedic stride is also clearly evolving, as I find myself smiling and laughing a little more with each episode.Edit: Voice credits at the end conifrm Chelsea Sprauer performed the Elf Girl. WoW Moviewatch: Dude, Where's My Mount? Episode 7
The Dude, Where's My Mount? series is one that has regrettably not been on Moviewatch often enough. Any kind of episodic series that puts this level of effort and consistency into its work should definitely be noted. We've covered one episode before, but hopefully we'll do a better job keeping up in the future. Episode 7 of DWMM has a kind of classic fantasy vs. real-life trope, wherein the authors of the series get confronted by their characters. I think it works for the laughs, though it'd probably help your appreciation if you were familiar with the series. The production values are spot on for this episode -- anything less would leave the interaction feeling like a waste of time, while more special effects would make the scenes feel forced and overworked. WoW Moviewatch: Dude, where's my mount, episode 2
No, Episode 2 isn't new, but somehow through our entire Moviewatch career we've missed out on the Dude, where's my mount series and we're attempting to fix that, one episode at a time. And for the very many of you who couldn't stand Episode 1, the quality of the machinima and the script is much improved.
