Samsung's launch of the Galaxy S 4 hasn't been as coordinated as the company would like, but it's making some amends with today's launch of its flagship phone in Canada. In one fell swoop, most of the larger Canadian carriers are now offering the 16GB model for a typical $200 on a 3-year contract. Bell, Rogers and Telus (as well as their sub-brands) are covering much of the country, while more region-specific carriers like Eastlink and Videotron are also joining in. Carriers like Mobilicity and Wind Mobile aren't yet included, however, and supplies are known to be tight -- we'd ask about stock before making a trip to the local store.

For Canada, EastLink's on a roll. Not even two months after the Halifax-based company added in a fresh dozen to its lineup, subscribers are now being treated to three more. Customers all across Atlantic Canada can now enjoy High Fidelity HDTV's suite of Oasis HD, Equator HD and Rush HD, though there's no mention if they're being provided gratis or in a pay tier. Sure, these may be for eye candy more than anything else, but since when is that a bad thing?

It's not often that Canada sees new HD content, and it's practically unheard of for a carrier to add twelve high-def channels at once. EastLink has announced that six new HD stations are available in select areas right now, while the other six will be launched in short order. As of now, Fox West HD (660), NBC West HD (661), ABC West HD (662), CBS West HD (663), Speed HD (620) and PPV HD (695) are ready to go, while Discovery HD, HDNet, Oasis HD, Equator HD, Rush HD and Treasure HD will be lit up momentarily. 'Grats Canada, you deserve it.
