It's no secret that Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is a gorgeous game, we've given it very worthy spots in One Shots many times in the past few weeks. But every once in a while, someone's able to capture a game in a light that makes already amazing graphics become even better. And that is certainly the case with this Vanguard user-made trailer that's been sweeping forums. The trailer shows off the main draws to Vanguard, such as the large open world, access to many fantastic mounts, ships, and other travel methods, and the epically large dungeons with equally epic monsters to destroy. The trailer is apparently so good at what it does, Silius, the lead game designer, even congratulated the makers on a video well done.Go ahead and click on the link below to jump to the land beyond the break and watch the trailer for yourself![Thanks Ricky!]

  • A new habit for nuns

Looking for someone to play Wii Sports with? Get thee to a nunnery! We admit that this unofficial commercial is predictable and probably a bit corny, too -- just like our post title -- but at least it's 10 million times more entertaining than Sister Act.As for the origins of the clip, Youtube user Phil Strahl and several of his classmates at the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg shot the commercial for a Post Production course last year. Make sure you watch it 'til the end for some extra goofiness -- how were they able to knock down bowling pins while playing tennis?

If any of you own either the PC or PS3 versions of Unreal Tournament 3, you might enjoy downloading this Mario-inspired map made by FrontAXL. The blocky platforms will look familar to players of the original Super Mario Bros., as well as many of the background elements. It's not an exact replica (nor is it meant to be), but the similarities are impossible to deny. Also, the PC version of the map includes music and sounds from the beloved classic. Check out the awesome in-game video of the stage in action after the break, along with some other screens. You can also download the stage here at the UT3 forums.

  • A shinier WoW

WoW is a fairly good-looking game, especially when compared to some other MMOs, but let's face it: it hasn't had much of a change to its graphics quality since its release in 2004, and you can tell. To give you an idea of how pretty it could be, Youtube user qelss has rendered several models from WoW with more light and some additional filters; you can see one above, and more on his profile page. As MMO-Champion notes, these are fan-made and not previews of anything, but it's still fun to look at the gleaming swords and armor.[via MMO-Champion]

It doesn't really irk us that this Mario/Metroid mélange is at least eight minutes too long, because it manages to confirm a sneaking suspicion that we've held for some time now: that there is a niche between 2D Mario and 2D Metroid games, just aching to be filled. We knew it!Over to you, Nintendo.[Via Go Nintendo]

  • Fan-made Mario Galaxy DS trailer almost fools us

Fan-made videos of this quality are few and far between, but the Super Mario Galaxy DS trailer we've embedded past the post break (for spoiler-related reasons, so be warned) is one of the most professionally produced we've seen to date. Judging by the user comments submitted in response to this over at GameTrailers, many viewers have been duped into believing this is a real game.Alas, it isn't, but it sure does get the old pulse racing.

Because this video has been out since May, you might have seen it already. If not, though, we highly recommend taking a look at this fan-made Zelda movie called "Dark Sage." Using a program called 3DS Max, Youtube member Coloniser combined his game designing skills, talent, and awesomeness to create this Zelda homage. We're definitely impressed by this project, and only hope that there will be a sequel in the future.[Thanks, Jack!]

  • Fan-made Dementium trailer creeps us out

There's not much to say about this trailer, except that it's full of understated brilliance. Dementium: The Ward videos have all (successfully) tried to scare the crap out of us, but somehow this one is the most disturbing. At the very least, it's certainly the most comical. Interestingly enough, this video is fan-made. Gamecock fanatic Regie Miller sent his videos to Destructoid and told them, "Whether it was Gamecock's plucky chutzpah or the Je ne sais quoi charm of a man in a rooster mask I'll never know, but one way or another this starry-eyed idea machine found its way into my heart and there it stayed and laid eggs." Oh ... okay, then. It's unclear as to whether Gamecock bought the rights to Miller's trailer, but it certainly looks that way. Since we couldn't find it at the official Dementium and Gamecock websites, however, we can't be sure.
