CyberPower reveals Fang III Taipan SLI gaming notebook
CyberPower is one of the better known builders of gaming desktops, but the company also makes supercharged laptops capable of running the latest GPU-punishing titles. The Fang III Taipan is its latest portable offering, and it carries both high-end components and a high-end price. The default configuration will set you back a heart-stopping $1,819, but the 2.4GHz Core i7, 16GB of DDR3 RAM and pair of Geforce GTX 670Ms in an SLI arrangement ensure you're getting your money's worth. There's also a 60GB SSD and 1TB hard drive under the hood so you don't have to choose between performance or storage. You can also pair up a couple of SSDs in a RAID if that's your thing. To get the most out of all that power there's a 17.3-inch 1,920 x 1,080 LED panel and an Onkyo sound system with a subwoofer for your aural enjoyment. Obviously, the Taipan is only portable in the loosest of sense considering its bulky 8.6-pound frame, but we doubt anyone would really want to carry roughly $2,000 worth of computer with them in public anyway. Heck, if you really wanted to trick this thing out with 32GB of RAM, a 3.0GHz Core i7, 1TB of SSD storage and a pair of GTX 680Ms you could easily top $5,000. While still pegged with a vague "Spring 2010" release, Square Enix has made good on its promise of a hastened localization. Already, the HUD sports English text, and the characters have been dubbed in English.The latest batch of screenshots released by Square Enix focus on Oerba Yun Fang, a character introduced at Tokyo Game Show as a traitor working for the government. Former RedOctane employees legally lose their rhythm
Two former RedOctane employees, Guitar Hero II executive producer John Tam and brand manager Corey Fong, have settled with Activision regarding a lawsuit the publisher filed against the duo, GameSpot reports. The other parties involved -- PR firm Reverb Communications, peripheral manufacturer The Ant Commandos and former RedOctane employee Jamie Yang -- have not currently settled.Activision claims that Tam and Fong had used their knowledge of its rhythm games improperly in creating and showcasing a demo that aimed at getting funding for a new development house, Lodestone Entertainment (formerly Hourglass Interactive), that intended to develop rhythm titles. Tam and Fong have consented to the judge's permanent injunction that bars the duo from the following: Using the demo they created, which is said to have incorporated elements of Guitar Hero and StepMania, in any way Disclosing or act upon any Activision trade secrets Developing drum-, guitar-, or synthesizer-based games for the next year Working on any Guitar Hero II controllers for the Xbox 360 until six months after the game's release this week Developing any sort of competition for unspecified peripheral devices (effects pedals, perhaps?) found on a confidential list held by Activision until six months after they are released Additionally, Tom and Fong are to turn over "all documents, files, or materials they might have relating to the publisher's proprietary information, Lodestone Interactive, or communications with Reverb and The Ant Commandos" to Activision, according to the report.
Zfang portable gaming keyboard reviewed
If you're looking to give your fingers a break but don't want to replace your regular keyboard with one of Ideazon's fairly large and generally graphics-laden Zboards, you might be interested in adding their compact new Zfang to your repertoire. Extremetech's review is generally positive, complimenting its ergonomic design and extensive customizability, citing only minor negatives like plastic construction and the $35 price tag. Other features, like buttons on each side to accommodate lefties, multimedia controls, and 11 weapon-specific keys, make the Zfang seem like just the thing to help us in our transition from FPS-player to real-life killing machines.
