Festivus is a secular holiday celebrated on Dec. 23 as a way to celebrate the holiday season without participating in its pressures and commercialism. It was created by writer Dan O'Keefe and introduced into popular culture by his son Daniel, a screenwriter for the TV show Seinfeld, as part of a comical storyline on the show. The holiday's celebration, as shown on Seinfeld, includes an unadorned aluminum "Festivus pole," practices such as the "Airing of Grievances" and "Feats of Strength," and the labeling of easily explainable events as "Festivus miracles." -- Wikipedia, retrieved Dec. 22, 2011 Now, I'm not one for doing an Airing of Grievances in public; that'll be done tonight around the Festivus pole. But I do think we can talk about Feats of Strengths -- after all, there have been some pretty awesome ones that've come up in WoW in recent years. I think perhaps the best Feat of Strength of all time goes to Insane in the Membrane, because if you get that, then you're really probably nuts and could find yourself dancing around the Festivus Pole (or you're really awesome and I'm just jealous). A close runner-up is the Scarab Lord Feat of Strength. The mount is amazing, and the title that goes along with it has to be one of the most unique things you can have in all of WoW. And since one a handful of people have this, most of us will just have to settle for the Why? Because It's Red Feat of Strength. Happy Festivus from WoW Insider! What of your Feats of Strength are you most proud of?

  • Waging WAR: Tapping the keg

Mythic has released the Keg's End live event in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, and this week in Waging WAR, after falling off the wagon and bumping his head, Greg talks about all the things to see and do in-game during this holiday season. Don't worry, though -- we were able to get him to stop singing carols after the swelling went down. It's that time of year again, and most everyone is celebrating something in some fashion. Whether it's Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or Festivus, ultimately, it's a section of the calendar that many of us can appreciate and look forward to. On that note, I would like to extend my warmest and sincerest Season's Greetings to all Massively readers out there, wherever you are. And as fun as it is with the gift giving, merriment and world-peace-wishing, the best part of the season is when we get hammered and smack-talk our families. Wait, you don't smack-talk your family at your house? You mean... the season really is all about warmth, love, and mistletoe mischief? Hmm... well, it seems as though my family missed that memo. Behind-the-back dirt-dishing has been a staple at my house for as long as I can remember. But enough about that, let's talk about Warhammer Online and the Keg End live event -- something I can relate to. Forget about religion, politics, and corporate pan-handling; let's get out the gourds, chug a frothy or two, and loudly proclaim our bravest victories in that barrel-chested manner we're all so accustomed to (OK, maybe not all of us, but play along, will ye?). Read on after the cut to learn about all the fun things you can look forward to with WAR's Keg End live event.

I'm looking forward to the Festivult events. I love sales, I love the Risia Ice Games (even though I stink at platforming), I love gathering Festivult coins, and I will love it even more once I have a cookie jar to stick all my new goodies in. There's even a giveaway that will award one lucky player 100,000 Turbine Points! I had fun writing last week's newbie's guide to Festivult, and once it was done, I spent a fair amount of time browsing the DDO site and the forums in preparation for the upcoming events. In the middle of all my holiday fun and anticipation, I noticed something both on the forums and in game: discontent. Wait, discontent over such a fun event? What's going on here? Who put this anger in my Festivult? Follow along after the jump as I take a closer look.

  • World's most geeky Christmas card includes an iPhone

There's no more procrastinating: the holidays are officially here, and regardless of your celebratory affiliations, some sort of holiday card is going to end up in your mailbox. Typically, these little card stock/construction paper doo-dads end up on the mantle, refrigerator or, in the case of the card from my insurance agent, in the trash. However, this particular card (featured on Crave) is one that I wouldn't mind receiving and would most definitely be treasured long after the new year. The card uses different colors of construction paper, card decorations, and an iPhone (!!!) to create the ultimate in holiday-mail technology. Combine the above with a scalpel or exacto knife, a little free time and elbow grease and what you get is a crafty and creative delivery medium for your loved one's gift that is sure to excite and delight. Of course, you have to start with an iPhone you're willing to give away... Read on to see the video demonstration of how to construct the card. [via Switched]

No matter what holiday you celebrate this time of year, one thing is generally guaranteed; the presence of presents! The team here has bounced things back and forth and we've gone all across the gaming gamut. Some of us can't wait to get our hands on Rock Band or one of those ever-elusive Wiis; others of us are just hoping for something as simple as time cards for our favorite MMOs. I know my wish list involves gift cards so I can pick up a nice powerful video card for some of the games coming down the pipes. (Just no CompUSA, kthx.)For this morning, we thought it would be fun to let you in on the "oooh, I wish" trading-notes fun we've had off and on comparing ideas for some of the holiday gift guides we've put out/are working on. What kind of cool gaming stuff are you hoping to land this year? The hot WoW item this year seems to be the Figureprints statues, but as they're limited availability, who knows who is going to get one of those. If you can't score that, what's your fallback must-have gift? Elf plushies? TCG decks for your favorite MMO? And speaking of awesome presents; WoW Insider will be giving away one of those sweet World of Warcraft Dell laptops soon, so be on the lookout for the post with details here giving you the scoop!

Hello readers! Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Hanukah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, a Festive Festivus, and a Super Atheisticus!* Also, I wanted to let you know that it looks like the majority of the TUAW team will be traveling over the holidays and largely in a non-posting state over the weekend, so don't be overly distressed if you don't see *tons* of content. Since Dave Caolo usually has his kids write all those posts for him (come on, like one guy could really do all that posting!), maybe even he'll be absent. In any case, don't fret. We'll be back and cranking out the regular TUAW goodness on Monday, I'm sure. Also, there is every chance that I will post multiple posts with pictures on Christmas day, bragging about all the Mac schwag I scored from Santa. w00t!*I made this one up for our heathen free-thinking readers. Feel free to use it.
