It's been a while since we've seen a proper TERA fly-through video and even longer (maybe ever) since we've seen one that features frosty, forbidden landscapes piled high with ice and snow. Enter a new clip from Frogster (TERA's European publisher) that we recently sighted on YouTube. The trailer runs north of two minutes and whisks us through the wilds of southern Shara on a whirlwind journey from icy snowscapes to sprawling cities then onward through psychedelic forests and quaint fantasy villages. Despite the scenic splendor that takes up most of the screen time, TERA's unique combat mechanics aren't completely ignored. A brief and violent action montage punctuates the clip and serves to whet our appetites for more from the world of Arborea. Feast your eyes after the cut.

Yesterday we learned a bit more about the labor system in XL Games' ArcheAge as well as some juicy tidbits on ship and housing construction. Today, AAportal.net has some more non-combat discussion to whet our sandbox appetites, and this time the subject is plants. While plants are an unlikely MMORPG topic (unless you're talking about a gathering quest), they play a unique role in ArcheAge thanks to the game's gardening and harvesting systems. Whether your interest lies in cultivating grapes or in seeding a grove of apple trees and (eventually) selling the harvest to expand your farm, it's all doable. Trees are also a source of timber, which is required for the aforementioned ship-building as well as house and furniture construction. In other ArcheAge news, a brief fly-through video has surfaced on YouTube. While the clip clocks in at a paltry 43 seconds, it offers a number of external looks at player housing as well as the game's gorgeous scenery. Check it out after the cut, then head to AAportal for more.

Kotaku's got the scoop on the latest TERA trailer, and the new four-minute video treats fans and curious bystanders to a lot of spiffy Arborean fly-through shots as well as some tough talk from En Masse Entertainment developers. The dev dialogue snippets basically collate all of the talking points that En Masse has been hinting at in various interviews over the past year: There's the action combat, the size of the world and the way it caters to explorer-types, and the focus on the action instead of the UI. There's also a quick blurb about story from lead writer David Noonan, specifically the fact that TERA's story (and the world itself) is the dream of two ancient gods. En Masse VP Chris Lee even drops a hint about guild housing, which mitigates the fact that we've seen a lot of the footage in this video before. There is some new stuff, though, so make sure to keep watching past the titles at the three-minute mark for additional footage. Click past the cut to check it out.

Look! Up in the air! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's the latest DC Universe Online fly-through video! Unfortunately for you Man of Steel fans in the audience, it has nothing to do with Superman. I know, that was mean. SOE's Gotham City is cooler than Metropolis though, and glimpses of its gothic glory are enough to give cynical game journos a reason to grin, so what are you going to do? At any rate, feast your eyes on the creepy confines of Arkham Asylum, the rusty, run-down facade of Ace Chemicals, and the dimly lit digs of Crime Alley, the Gotham Freight Yards, Amusement Mile, and more. Don't forget to check out the legendary Bat-signal atop the Police Department while you're skulking about. Gotham City. After dark. It's all yours after the cut.

Waiting with bated breath for more information about the XL Games sandbox title called ArcheAge? We are too, and rest assured that we're working on the Jake Song-led dev team to try to get some answers regarding the mysterious Korean import. In the meantime, we're keeping our eyes peeled for new videos, whether they're snippets of closed beta footage or officially sanctioned trailers like the one we've found for you today. While the last video focused heavily on naval combat and player ships, today's three-minute opus is a bit more tranquil, featuring fly-through footage of some of the game's vast explorable areas. You'll see everything from mist-shrouded forests and mountainous highlands to Middle Eastern-flavored harbor towns and sprawling medieval-style villages. Check out the goods after the cut or on YouTube.

En Masse Entertainment invites you to run to the hills, the Celestial Hills to be exact (and you don't even have to be in a big-haired metal band). The North American publisher for Bluehole Studio's TERA MMORPG has released a pair of fly-through videos to close out the week, showing off both the Celestial Hills and the Pora Elinu regions of Arborea. The hills feature a series of mysterious monoliths -- rock formations whose true origin and purpose is unknown -- as well as bands of roving cultists and deadly orcans. Pora Elinu is the tree-city home of the popori race and, though the land of endless night holds many beautiful sights and sounds, it also plays hosts to deadly dangers including cultists and vampirs. Check out both of the new videos after the cut or at GameTrailers.

We've seen a lot of the DC Universe Online world lately, but mostly just bits and pieces of the zones. Maybe a small street scene here and a bit of a rooftop battle there. It all looks great, don't get us wrong. Sony Online Entertainment is creating a visually exciting world with lots of potential, but it's a bit limited when you consider that our characters can fly, run up the sides of walls, and leap tall buildings in a single bound. We've needed a view worthy of our heroic characters, and the DCUO team has obliged. Check out our exclusive fly-through video after the cut, and prepare to run, leap, and soar through Metropolis, seeing it as it was meant to be seen.

  • Darkfall teases new environmental sounds

Darkfall. The very name strikes fear into the hearts of PvE gamers everywhere. There may be a more wretched hive of scum and villainy in the MMO world, but you wouldn't know it from the comments generated whenever someone dares to write about the polarizing title from Aventurine. Ironically, the indie studio has released what can only be called a tranquil video composed of in-game footage featuring new environmental sounds. This may well be the first (and last) time you see a Darkfall video that isn't full to the brim with slaughter and mayhem, and the teaser's fly-through shots offer a great opportunity to glimpse the care and detail that went into bringing the world of Agon to life. Aventurine's Laenih, sets the stage for the video in a post on the game's official forums. "Environmental sounds in Darkfall will not only help with getting you more immersed into the game, they will also play a big role in tactics and strategical planning throughout your gaming sessions. In the future sneaking up on enemies will be either easier or harder depending on the environment you find yourself and your prey in," the community liaison writes. Check out the video after the jump. [Thanks to Paragus for the tip!]
