Wolfmother challenges you to a race off
Our fellow Guitar Hero II rockers Wolfmother will be playing some Forza 2 this Saturday as part of Xbox.com's Game With Fame. The band will be online playing Forza 2 sometime on June 23rd and to get a chance to race with them simply send gamertag WolfmotherGWF a friend request. That's it, sit back, rinse, repeat (minus the repeat part). We're also nearly certain that they'd be more comfortable rocking out to some Guitar Hero II online if they could, but you know ... a certain developer didn't include such feature in the 360 version. Oh well, Forza 2 will work just fine.
Yippy! More of your custom Forza 2 cars
It has been a while since we've added your custom Forza 2 cars to the official X3F gallery, but it's not like we forgot about them or were purposely avoiding you. Really, we weren't. So, let's get to the vehicular goods. One of our favorite cars we received is Gabriel Acevedo's sequel to his first Spawn vehicle. His new one, as seen above, is down right beautiful. Gold star for you Gabriel, job well done. Our other favorite is Jayman007's X3F inspired car, because it says "X360F FTW" on the back, which is just the right amount of butt kissing to be enjoyed. And if you're feeling really manly and are up for some eye candy, be sure to stare at cade's Jessica Alba Sin City ride. Uhh, yeah ... it's nice. Live Top Ten: Demolicious
This week's live top ten has a third of the list devoted to digitally distributed demonstration content. Of those demos, Shadowrun came all the way in fourth, with Tenchu Z down in 7th, and the Overlord demo rounding out the list in tenth. Without the Halo 3 Beta there to hog the list, Forza moved up all the way to second, behind Gears of War. Crackdown proved it had some staying power without the help of the aforementioned beta, as it maintained the middle ground at fifth. Also, Prince of Persia managed to make the list at ninth. Forza 2 bundle available in Canada, eh?
If car enthusiasts are going to be picking up an Xbox 360 solely for Forza Motorsport 2, then they're in luck, provided they reside in the Great White North. Yes, not only do Canadians have the ability to grab the Forza 2 Collector's Edition domestically, but they also have the standard game packed in with Xbox 360s. Ring of death inspires Forza 2 artwork
Another Forza 2 customized paint job arrived in our inbox today and we thought its inspiration was noteworthy. Some of us (including me) have experienced the dreaded red lights and have had to deal with Microsoft's semi-helpful customer service to send off a broken 360. CoolNumber9 is having the same red ring of death problems and has been using the "towel trick" to keep it running long enough to make a ring of death inspired Forza 2 car. It may not be the most badass ride on the block, but anyone who has had to deal with the red lights will shudder when they see this beast in their rear view mirror. How-to: make custom Forza 2 paint jobs
If you listened to the latest episode of the Xbox 360 Fancast (and you really should have), then you'll know that the copious amounts of Forza 2 custom paint jobs hitting the net both amazed and befuddled us. They amazed us, obviously, because the level of work and detail that goes into these cars is amazing. They befuddled us because we had no idea how they were created. Lo and behold, we have discovered a handy how-to on the Forza 2 message boards. Posted by one Neubourn, the tutorial shows you step by step how the many shapes available in the Forza 2 livery editor can be transformed into incredibly detailed works of art. Yup, every custom paint job is merely a collection of shapes in different configurations and transparencies. It seems damned near unbelievable when you view the initial rough outline of Batman's Harley Quinn (see "Before" above), but after some extensive manipulation (and plenty of time we're sure) she came to life as clear as crystal. Forza 2 custom cars make their way to eBay
We've mentioned more than once that we're damned impressed with all the Forza Motorsport 2 custom cars out there (especially this one), but we're not sure if we'd be willing to actually pay for one. You know, with real money. It looks like custom Forza cars have begun to hit eBay. Honestly, we're surprised we didn't see this coming. So far we've found three different auctions for various cars, all priced at $10. These don't have the meticulous custom paint jobs we've seen, so we're guessing they're tuned more for performance. One seller is even creating his cars with individual numbers, hoping to make them collector's items.Our question to you: would you pay real money for the ultimate Forza car?[Thanks, IncredibleBulk92]
X3F Forza 2 Cars FTW!
Xbox 360 Fanboy reader and Forza 2 aficionado Spinthelights sent us a couple shots of two very nice X3F themed cars. The level of detail is pretty astounding, as they mirror the logos and banners of the main site with remarkable accuracy. Also, this is a perfect time to start up a gallery of user submitted Forza 2 cars. They don't have to have our logo plastered across the hood, but we appreciate the effort fellow fanboys put into letting everyone know which site they go to for all their Xbox 360 news. Forza 2 hasn't even been out for a week and already we're starting to see shots of custom paint jobs roll in. The designs are all over the place, from anime, to KFC, to iPod, to Jack Sparrow, to Gears of War. We particularly like Reggie Lee seen above. Forza 2 allows aspiring artists to go crazy on their cars with numerous customization options and photoshop'esque layers. And Zonks took full advantage of the customization features by creating a South Park car featuring our favorite four kids from Denver. It's very well done indeed.We know Forza 2 has only been out for a few days, but we'd like to see how you've customized your racer. Have you gone old school and added some flames? It's a pretty big week for the Xbox 360. This week we see the release of two of Microsoft's major releases for the summer, Shadowrun and Forza Motorsport 2. Not only that, but also get Monster Madness and Surf's Up. You know, on second thought, maybe we should just stick to the first two. Honestly, the big question for 360 gamers this week is whether the choose Forza or Shadowrun. This week at Circuit City online or in-store, when you purchase either Shadowrun or Forza 2 you get a free Xbox 360 game valued at $19.99. It's a pretty good deal seeing that Circuit City's rival Best Buy doesn't offer any incentive to buy either game. Though, you'll be hard pressed to find a good 360 game for $20 as we only could dig up games like Cars, Rockstar's Table Tennis, The Outfit, and (shudder) Bomberman: Act Zero in that price range. Forza 2 racing wheel tuning possible through DiRT
Over on the Forza Motorsport 2 forums members are investigating a way to change the 360 racing wheel's force feedback in the Forza 2 demo. Currently, the Forza 2 demo does not allow customizable racing wheel options, but the Colin McRae DiRT demo does allowing players to change various settings. And, as such, some forum members are reporting that the DiRT demo's force feedback settings magically transfer over to the Forza 2 demo. So, if you're feeling the need for more force feedback in Forza 2, fire up DiRT, customize your racing wheel options and see if it helps your Forza 2 demo situation. Although, all this confusion could be avoided if Microsoft would integrate some sort of racing wheel options menu through the dash. You hear us Microsoft? [Thanks, thermodynamic]
Forza 2 inspires racing wheel price drop
As Forza Motorsport 2 heads to retailers on May 29, Microsoft has slashed slightly reduced the price of the Wireless Racing Wheel to $129.99 (normally $149.99). Yes, for the price of a DS Lite, you can experience true force feedback in your favorite racing titles. There are plenty of other special events planned around the release of Forza 2, including Xbox Live contests, developer play sessions, and a leaderboard tournament.So, with a marginally reduced price, is anyone out there ready to take the plunge and pick up the wheel?[Via Joystiq]
Seriously, Project Gotham Racing 3 is not a PS3 game
Alright, this is getting ridiculous. For the third time in almost as many months, a sports model from Project Gotham Racing 3 has becoming an unwitting spokesmodel for Sony's PlayStation 3. Having already been mistaken for Gran Turismo HD and used to promote the PS3 in a KIA ad, Microsoft's exotic car racer now finds itself inside Dutch magazine, Mediamarkt, as posted in the Bizarre Creations forums. The depicted Saleen has likely been in those pages before... just not in an article discussing the PlayStation 3's future. Is this indicative of some deeply rooted desire for a multiplatform excursion for the series? Perhaps it's some subtle commentary on the lack of distinguishing features in the racing genre? We'll ponder these questions and more once we've finished our race in the Forizmo demo. Or whatever.[Thanks, v]
Forza 2 goes gold, reaches stores on May 29th
In a politely worded e-mail, Microsoft has announced that seriously simmy sequel, Forza Motorsport 2, has at last gone gold. Having hit Ctrl+S for the final time, the team at Turn 10 Studios has sent the finished code off to the disc pressers, shortly before collapsing into a nearby and distinctly unhygienic pool of blood, sweat and oil.A demo of Forza 2 is currently available on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the full game can be expected to arrive on 29 May. UK retailers currently list a June 8th release date for those that enjoy driving on the wrong side of the road. [Via Microsoft press release]
