It seems that Dancing with the Stars was such a hit that Activision decided to bring the sequel to Nintendo's other current-gen system, the DS. The games developer and publisher decided to nix the PS2 and PC versions in this iteration, and focus on what Nintendo has to offer (massive casual audiences) instead. Will Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On! (DS) have the same Samba de Amigo-like "charm" as its predecessor did on the Wii? Maybe, but probably not (especially since it won't include maraca-esque motions). Not only do we cringe a little at the license, but Activision also has yet to prove themselves as worthy DS rhythm game developers. (If you plan to cite Guitar Hero: On Tour as a counter example, keep in mind that it was developed by Vicarious Visions.) Even though we're skeptical and cynical by nature, we'll wait and see how this Q4 release moves along. We wouldn't want to miss the next Ouendan or Elite Beat Agents because we were too busy scoffing, after all.

  • Activision is still Dancing with the Stars

Although mediocre, Dancing with the Stars wasn't as terrible as we thought it would be. For a "dumbed-down Samba de Amigo," in fact, it wasn't half bad. That doesn't mean we're going to get our proverbial knickers in a twist over "part two", though.Yes, the day has come for Activision to announce a sequel to the first game in the series, titled Get Your Dance On! this time around. You can dance as some B-list celebs such as Mel B, Apolo Anton Ohno, Joey Fatone and Jennie Garth, and pair up with instructors that only people who watch the show will have heard of. Activision promises that the Wii version will have more refined controls than its predecessor, and will include "flair" moves that you can perform to get extra points (and to make yourself look extra silly, we're sure). Other than that, it's just Dancing with the Stars, so take it or leave it.
