So you've got this hot new "super app" off BlackBerry App World, and want to share it with a friend? You could message them the name of the program, but that's so 2010. Soon, BlackBerry's going to have its very own "Gift This App" functionality through BBM, which will let you take advantage of that handy new carrier billing to debit the cost of the item and wing it to your recipient. RIM envisions the functionality used by parents who want to limit their children's access too, by taking full control of their purchases and subscriptions from their own remote handset. Now, we'll just sit back, relax and wait for RIM to ping us with a release date. PR after the break.

  • Appsgiving Day is this Saturday, July 10th

I like this idea -- the folks behind a new under-development app called iWishApp (that's designed to create a wishlist of iPhone apps) have decided to declare this Saturday, July 10th, as "Appsgiving Day." Basically, you go into iTunes on Saturday, the anniversary of the App Store's debut, and choose to "Gift This App" on an app you like to someone special. Not only can you support quality developers (like the ones we highlight here on TUAW every day), but you can give a nice cheap gift to an iPhone or iPad owner of your choice. OK, sure, it's basically a completely made-up commercial holiday, and the whole point of the thing is to sell some apps -- you may have already spent more money on your iPhone than you want to admit. But there are a lot of great developers working hard on the iPhone, and why not spend a buck or two and make someone else happy with a great app, right? Seems like a good way to celebrate the platform that's come so far.

  • 'Give a Gift' of your favorite iPhone app with new iTunes option

Want to send your favorite iPhone fart app to all your friends? You can do that now! Apple has added an app gifting function to the iTunes store (the one on your computer, not the App Store on your phone). To find it, just click the little arrow next to the price on any app, and choose to "Gift This App." There, you'll be able to specify recipients, write a personal message, and send the certificate either through email or by printing it out. Sadly, this functionality arrived too late for you to send out copies of the $400 Zits & Giggles -- Apple removed the game following Tommy Refenes's Indie Game Maker Rant.
