GodsWar Online is on the verge of another major content update, and it's never our wish at Massively that players be caught unaware, just in case you want to plan ahead and move laundry night to a different day or something. The Grecian title will be throwing a gob -- which is made up of 10 goblets -- of additional features and content our way, including a level cap increase and a new storyline for players to enjoy. As the conflict between the three factions rises to an even higher level, elite warriors will be glad to get their hands on Class Suit III gear, not to mention to be able to upgrade said gear with collected medals. GodsWar will be tweaking Wonderland somewhat, particularly in regard to tougher BOSS fights (although there will be new weaknesses that players can exploit). The update will also allow you to swap out your character's gender for a modest fee, just in case you choose poorly in the beginning or are discontented with your current anatomical features. Bigpoint and Mail.Ru Group have just announced a corporate partnership that aims to bring titles from each publisher to new prospective markets. Bigpoint, a browser MMO specialist most famous for its free-to-play Battlestar Galactica title, will bring its games to Mail.Ru's Russian-speaking audience via the latter's existing portal delivery service. Similarly, Bigpoint users will find Mail.Ru titles like GodsWar Online accessible via the Bigpoint website. Bigpoint games will also be making their way to Mail.Ru's Odnoklassniki and My World social networking services. "As successful browser-game providers, Bigpoint.com and Mail.Ru are a match made in heaven. We're happy to expand both our game portfolio and our international network of partners at the same time," said Bigpoint CEO Nils Holger Henning in a recent press release.

Pets are on their way to GodsWar Online, and the IGG team has a new dev blog designed to give players a preview of the upcoming content. Unlike the pet systems in most MMOs, every creature in GodsWar will be tamable -- yes, even those terrifying medusa and hydra bosses (that said, due to the size of some of the game's critters, player pet versions will be necessarily scaled down). IGG also plans to add new pets to the game to compliment existing monsters, including the cerberus, griffin, tyrannosaurus, and more. GodsWar will also boast new pet talents and skills, and you can read the full dev diary after the cut. While you're at it, don't forget to peruse our GodsWar gallery for the latest screenshots. %Gallery-80994%

  • GodsWar Online developer journal discusses the inclusion of mounts

Mounts are a big part of nearly any MMO and GodsWar Online is no exception. They recently added a mount system, but it certainly wasn't as simple as typing "/horse" and moving on. Even the decision to add mounts in the first place was a long and complicated process. Their latest developer journal takes a closer look at the thoughts behind how the system came to be. When the idea of adding a mount system was first presented, the dev team itself was divided. There was a fair amount of discussion about the historical accuracy of infantry in Greece, and seemingly endless discussion ended in an official forum vote. The fans turned out to be "overwhelmingly" in favor of mounts, and production got underway. Again, it wasn't a simple and quick process: "There's a lot more to it than throwing a character on top of a pig." Many, many small effects work together to create a good mount, and each of those effects must be perfected individually. This journal entry is a great look at what goes on behind the scenes during the creation process, so it's well worth a visit to the site to check it out.

It seems like things are going great for the team working on Godswar Online. With update 2.0 now live on the servers, players are getting a chance to check out all the changes the team at IGG have been hard at work polishing up. This new update offers a nice graphical upgrade to armors, pets, and more offering even more kawaii than before. The level has been raised to 130, with the possibility of even more adventuring than before, as well as the addition of new class suits of armor and even mythical gear! There are even new mounts for Level 40 and higher players, to give your tired feet a rest. IGG has also opened up two new Godswar Online servers to help balance out populations: Heracles in the US, and Pisces in the EU. These new servers also carry with them some nice rewards for new players looking to check out the game in the form of super experience potions, some fireworks, and other goodies you'll need down the road -- although the special goodie bags are only available until March 18th. Be sure to head on over there and sign up before the goodies run out, if you're curious.

  • Godswar Online offers gifts for their new server

While Godswar Online may not be one of the more commonly known names in the F2P world, they seem to be doing fairly well for a cute, fun free-to-play title. Apparently there are enough people playing that they've had to open up a brand new server -- their twenty-second -- and are calling it Iris. As a bonus for those who are interested, players who start their adventures on Iris will be given a special "Newbie Gift Package" for free. Each package includes goodies like health, mana, and experience bonus potions as well as other starting tools and items that will help a new player to Godswar Online out. Aside from that, they've also started a contest to tempt some veteran players (or perhaps new and hardcore) to Iris as well. The idea is this: if players can reach level 70 within the first 7 days of logging on, they'll be given a gift of 3,000 E-Gold (currently worth $16.50 USD) to spend however they like in the Godswar Online store. Between these two giveaways and their Christmas Egg Crack event going on until the 30th, it sounds like a festive and fun time for their players. If you haven't had a chance to see Godswar Online, we have a handful of screenshots from their shiny new server for you to check out. %Gallery-80994%
