Shiver me timbers! Aeria Games has announced a new pirate-themed expansion to its free-to-play fantasy MMORPG Grand Fantasia titled Journey to Condemned Island. And more than just some "avast ye!" taunts and parrots, this massive content update includes new advanced classes, new epic gear, pets, and an increased level cap of 90. Along with the increase in the level cap comes the new lands of Heirloom Peninsula, Frostfire Pass, and Aurawhisp Hamlet to adventure in. A level 90 dungeon with 12 new world bosses to defeat and plunder also awaits all players wanting to begin their adventures on the high seas. [Source: Aeria Games press release]

Ah, Halloween. The dark Xmas. Around our house, Halloween is king. Despite the fact that we have no kids to dress up and parade around the neighborhood, we will still hand out tons of candy to all the trick-or-treaters. Until that spooky night, however, we love to spend the time exploring different Halloween events in our favorite MMORPGs. MMOs are perfect for such events -- they have the players to fill them out, the ability to host whatever kind of event they want, and a lot of optional blood and gore. Some of the events fit perfectly in their game-world, and some stick out like a stock broker on D&D night. Either way, there is always a lot of fun to be had, and sometimes very cool loot to snag! (Like that sweet ride pictured above -- got it on my first try.) Read on for some of my favorite events -- none of them costing a dime.

You've been eternally patient, young grasshopper, but now your wait is over. After several years of nail-biting anticipation, Aeria Games' Kitsu Saga is finally in closed beta, and you're invited to join in on the adventure -- if you have the right stuff to save the world, that is. So take the next week off school or work, and prepare to play until your eyeballs explode with joy! OK, we've never heard of this game either, but that doesn't mean it's not worth a bit of MMO recon work. So go forth, Massively scouts, and let us know what this Asian martial arts title is like! Kitsu Saga is being developed by X-Legend, which also made Grand Fantasia. Players join a faction and train as fledgling martial artists under the care of their masters. They also are befriended by a Kitsu -- a mischievous fox spirit of sorts that travels with adventurers and lends a hand (or at least color commentary). Aside from the Kitsu companions, the game also features little bonuses like being able to choose your character's age. You can enter the beta over at Aeria Games.

Aeria Games has recently announced their acquisition of a new game license to publish for our territories -- Grand Fantasia. Grand Fantasia's twist on the traditional MMORPG model is a focus on a virtual pet model of pet management in addition to the standard combat fare of MMOs. All players are given access to "sprite" companions that serve a variety of functions in the game, from things like crafting to accessing areas. The game is done in a strong cartoon/anime style, with magical fantasy being the driving theme. The closed beta for the game hasn't been announced yet, but the teaser website is up and showing initial trailers and screenshots for the game. But, why travel so far away when you can just watch our embedded version of the trailer in this very post! Just hit the continue reading button, and watch Aeria's latest game in motion.
