Earlier today, Microsoft announced their layoff plans that include 1,400 job cuts effective immediately. Sadly, we now have a few faces to put to those job cutting numbers as we just caught word that two members of Microsoft's Gamerscore Blog have been let go.Chris Paladino and Nelson Rodriguez both Twittered about the dismal news, with Paladino revealing that he is "a casualty" and adding that "if anyone needs a video producer/host/pr/marketing/community/numedia guy give a yell." Rodriguez, former host of the Achievement Junkie podcast, also revealed the bad news, asking "what happened to the AJ feed. Seems like it disappeared. Time to start fro m scratch. ;-)"We never thought that the retiring of the Gamerscore Blog would result in job cuts, seeing how we were under the impression that the GSB team would be working on other projects within' the Xbox division. Best of luck Paladino and Rodriguez on your future endeavors. What a craptacular economy we live in.

Sad news on the Xbox community front. Our Microsoft friends over at the Gamerscore Blog recently revealed that their blog will be no more and is officially retired. Microsoft has made the decision to end the GSB in an effort to focus on "community outreach through Xbox.com and through the Xbox dashboard." From what we understand, the GSB crew will be helping create content for Inside Xbox and other projects. On behalf of Xbox 360 Fanboy, we want to express our sincere gratitude to the entire Gamerscore Blog team. We recognize all the hard work they've done over the years to keep gamers informed and we appreciate all their Xbox community building efforts. They'll be missed and we hope to see their familiar faces and personalities in their upcoming projects. Here's to you GSB (raises glass of ginger ale), you'll be missed. Also, if you're up for it, we think it'd be appropriate to visit the GSB one last time to post a comment telling the team how much their contribution to the Xbox community was appreciated.

Nothing brings a group of Xbox 360 community members together like the promise of a free stretch-Hummer limo ride to go grab free grub at In-N-Out Burger. It works everytime. The Gamerscore Blog and Major Nelson invited any 360 community member in the area to a Wednesday Meet and Eat at a local In-N-Out to end CES with an eating frenzy. Around 40 people showed up, stories were shared, memories were made (pictures here) and faces were stuffed. And after all was eaten and consumed the GSB crew picked up the $225 tab (you better pay next time Major) as everyone was whisked back home with full stomachs. These kind of 360 community gatherings are ever so awesome and it's cool to see that the Microsoft crew was willing to take some time out of their schedule to treat the community to a free burger. Oh and nice hats everyone. Rockin' the In-N-Out paper hat is classic.

Hey kids, heads up! We just revealed what new goodies will be headed our way when the new Fall Update releases next Tuesday, but reading about it is only half as fun as seeing it in action. And that's where the Gamerscore Blog comes in. They just posted a nine minute video showing off and showcasing the impending Fall Update's features and demoing everything in an easily consumable YouTube video. Get excited, get watching and take it in all. The Fall Update has a lot to offer. Oh, and by the way. We're digging the new dashboard navigation and re-organization ... much love to that.

In their second attempt at promoting world peace among the gaming community, the Gamerscore Blog just released its second community gamer pictures set featuring All Games Interactive. This AGI set of fifteen community gamer pictures includes website favorites like Evil Avatar, XBL Radio, All Games Radio and much more. And just like the first community picture pack, these little puppies are grouped together as a free download and can be found in the new releases section of the Marketplace. Also, just like the first community picture pack, X3F isn't on the list. But don't worry fanboys, we're wearing down the Gamerscore Blog crew with our insistent emails, daily phone calls and constant text messaging tactics aimed at getting an X3F gamer pic in one of these sets. We have a feeling lucky number three will show results.

We always enjoy it when the Gamerscore Blog puts their heads together to produce creative video masterpieces (Portal anyone?) And this week they let us in on the headaches and stresses they've incurred the past few weeks having to house the COG crew until Gears of War PC launched. Because we all know how upfront and in your face Fenix can be when not killing Locusts. But thankfully, Gears released yesterday, so GSB is free and clear of the Coalition's mood swings. Though, we still wonder how many copies of Viva Pinata: Party Animals they have on hand. Three, four ... maybe they're just out?
