Apparently, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's Harlequin multiplayer character -- available only as a pre-order bonus from Gamestop -- didn't get the memo about, you know, stealth. Check out the trailer below to check out his (or her?) uniquely brutal, acrobatic style of dude-murdering.

  • GameStop pre-orders of AC: Brotherhood include Harlequin bonus character

The description of the "GameStop exclusive" Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood pre-order bonus seems apt for the terrifying Harlequin character: "Behind the gaudy costume and twisted smile lies the soul of a merciless assassin. You call yourself the Harlequin. Your victims will call you a walking nightmare." Presumably the whole "walking nightmare" thing is because you're a "merciless assassin," but for us, the clown makeup is sufficiently horrifying in its own way. No details have been provided on what other retailers might give to pre-order customers, but if past Assassin's Creed "retailer exclusive" bonuses are any indication, the Harlequin will be available for all to play eventually (presumably for a few virtual bucks). We've dropped an additional image of the terrifying multiplayer character in our gallery below, should you be so inclined. Oh, and you can pre-order the game right here. %Gallery-92693%[Via IGN]

  • Finally, Harlequin romance novels on DS

DS games are great, and those 100 Classic Books are pretty classic and all, but they lack heaving bosoms. Nintendo of Japan and developer Genius Sonority are stepping in, shirts open and hair flowing gently in the wind, to come to the rescue of romance-starved DS owners with Love Stories for Adults: DS Harlequin Selection, a cartridge of Harlequin romance novels, out in Japan on February 25. The cart contains 33 romance novels, five of which (gasp) are new to Japan. It also features summaries of previously read segments, a glossary, music and text size options, and even charts of characters' relations to each other. Sure, romance novels may not be what we're all into, and e-books may not necessarily need to be collected on cartridges like this, but we are fully in support of the use of the DS for the delivery of books -- and we like the ideas behind all the enhanced content. • Champions Online winter update goes steampunk, killer toys

The winter event/patch for Champions Online is adding a few new costume pieces, along with a pretty fun looking winter event. For all you steampunk enthusiasts out there, we won't keep you waiting, just head on over to the official event page and absorb the glorious monocle and arm pieces awaiting your characters. Unfortunately, the new pieces do need to be unlocked, but that's not such a bad thing since participating in the rather enjoyable sounding event is the only obstacle in your way. For instance, defeating Black Harlequin's giant white mecha teddy bear robot, Clarence, earns you that spiffy monocle. We can't wait to show that fluffy metal menace who's the boss around here -- and it's not Tony Danza... well, not unless someone makes a parody character. If you'd like to see more of Clarence, his killer friends and master Black Harlequin, then check out all the new screens in our gallery section below.%Gallery-17946%

  • Modder creates dual-screen Courier from Dell Mini 9, calls it Harlequin, Joker unavailable for comment

Microsoft's Courier, the dual-touchscreen wunderbooklet, had plenty of gadget lovers in a tizzy in late September -- even though the company itself doesn't seem to know what to do with it. An eventual release of the thing seems unlikely, so user Pak-Kei Mak over at the My Dell Mini forums created his own. It's a Dell Mini 9, or was a Dell Mini 9 anyway, bisected and keyboard replaced by another nine-inch display. This pic and another were posted back around Halloween, showing the two halves loosely coupled together, but pakkei has indicated a laser-cut custom case is in the works to bring it all together in a much tidier package. We do love lasers. Update: Pak-Kei Mak commented to say he's still "steamrolling along" with this design and will have updates for us soon. As it turns out this is the very-same Pak-Kei Mak who was one of our Kindle engraving contest winners a few months back, which interestingly also featured the use of lasers. It's a small world, ain't it?
