Uplay the vague Ubisoft online service is now also Uplay the PC client, through which Ubisoft sells games and offers friends lists and other services. It's worth checking out, because the company is offering a selection of $1 PC game downloads, one a day. Today, it's HAWX 2; tomorrow, From Dust, with Silent Hunter 5 and Driver: San Francisco following. The same deal applies in the UK and Europe, with prices of one unit of the local currency. There are other deep, if not as dramatic, discounts as well.

It seems Sam Fisher has hacked into Xbox Live, reducing prices on a large selection of Tom Clancy-related DLC for Gold members. What's that? You say Sam Fisher isn't a real person? This is just the Deal of the Week? Well fine, Mr. Smarty Pants. Find the deals after the break.

That's right: Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's HAWX 2 will be half-off on Steam this weekend, bringing it down to a more alluring $24.99 price point. The sale even extends to the "Open Skies" DLC currently available on Valve's service; it's also 50 percent off during this sale, bringing it down to $4.99. Wannabe pilots, take note: the sale ends February 14 at 10AM PST, so any tower buzzing will need to be initiated prior to then. Good hunting!

  • HAWX 2 for PC grounded until further notice

The PC version of Ubisoft's HAWX 2 won't be making its September 30 take-off date. As for when the PC port will launch, that's sorta, um ... not known. A Ubisoft representative tells Joystiq that it could "possibly be November," but the publisher isn't certain at this time. We're told a new date should be available "shortly." HAWX 2 flew into retail earlier this month for consoles to middling reviews. Waiting is hard, but PC owners can always play the (superior?) 8-bit version of HAWX any time they want. %Gallery-92365%

By naming its flight combat franchise "HAWX," Ubisoft created an expectation of ... something more. Something to do with the letter "X." It wasn't "HAWKS" -- that X was a built-in promise, right there in the title, of something x-otic and x-treme. While the first game in the series attempted to make the genre a little more x-citing, its sequel isn't so much a thrilling melange of dogfights and bombing runs as it is a simulation of working nine to five for a missile and bomb delivery service. Hey, a game where you pilot a flying UPS truck -- that could be pretty neat! Oh, sorry. See, I'm already forgetting HAWX 2. Let me get this all down before I move on to something more exciting, like a documentary on how they make packing peanuts.%Gallery-92365%

  • Tom Clancy's HAWX 2: The 8-bit Game has a missile lock on our heart

It feels so weird to be telling you this, but Ubisoft has made an advergame based on Tom Clancy's HAWX 2 and ... it's kinda good! It's a pretty basic shmup with an 8-bit theme, though it's a bit more forgiving than most traditional games in the genre. (Your plane can actually take more than one hit before going down.) Everything else is pretty much what you'd expect: a rad soundtrack; several weapon types; and an endless supply of enemies to blast into oblivion. Don't believe us? Hit up the link and check it out. [Thanks, Daniel]

Ubisoft sends word that a demo of its latest combat game taking place in the wild blue yonder will soon be available on the mundane colorless expanse of the internet. A single-player sampling of HAWX 2 is scheduled for arrival on the Xbox Marketplace next Monday, August 16, with the PS3 demo touching down on PSN a day later on Tuesday, August 17. Both versions will contain the same two missions from the game's story-driven campaign. One mission will have players donning the flightsuit of a Russian pilot on the trail of stolen aircraft, while the other is from the perspective of a US flyboy and will let players experience the simulated thrill of launching from an aircraft carrier. HAWX 2 will taxi onto store shelves September 7 for PS3 and 360, followed by PC and Wii releases later in the year.

  • HAWX 2 recruits your friends for multiplayer dogfights

The competitive multiplayer of the first Tom Clancy's HAWX game was limited to a single deathmatch-type experience. In Tom Clancy's HAWX 2: HAWX HARDER, there will be a full-on multiplayer mode in addition to the four-player co-op capabilities of the campaign, survival, free-flight and arcade modes, providing players with the opportunity to play the Iceman to their friend's Maverick through local and online multiplayer. Eurogamer has the goods on the new feature, which will see up to eight players take to the virtual skies for six different mission types in any of the game's 32 selectable planes -- play won't be limited to just your usual deathmatch variant this time around. Sadly, Ubisoft wasn't showing anything beyond team deathmatch, so there's little else to report. In the meanwhile, we suggest you gather some buds and kill time like real pilots. HAWX 2 flies the unfriendly skies on September 7 in the US.

It's time to kick the tires and light the fires! Actually, September 7 is when you'll be kicking and lighting. That's the release date for Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 on Xbox 360, PC, and PS3. Wii owners, unfortunately, are grounded until November 7. In addition to the date (provided to Big Download by Ubi PR), Ubisoft has updated the game's official website (see the "news" page here) with some new I.N.F.O. Unlike the first HAWX, you now have the option to fly at speeds under 1,000 miles per hour. That's ... exciting?%Gallery-92365%

Get ready to play around with boys one more time! Ubisoft just announced HAWX 2, presumably one of the two new Tom Clancy games mentioned by an Ubisoft producer late last month. HAWX 2, in development at Ubisoft Bucharest, gives players the chance to "become elite aerial soldiers in control of the world's most technologically advanced aircraft." This is, oddly enough, the second aerial combat game to be announced today, though the other one is slightly different in tone. It's currently scheduled for a fall release on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Wii. Ubisoft released one really exciting piece of artwork, which you can examine in more detail in our gallery. %Gallery-92365%
