Even though it's a holiday here in the US, Nintendo has released a plethora of new downloadable titles for the Wii and DSi. It's a great thing, not simply because OMG moar gamez, but because it gives us a distraction from the day's festivities. There's only so much of Aunt Linda's trip to the Grand Canyon we can listen to, you know? %Gallery-86442%

This week in North America, Art Style: Light Trax was released on WiiWare. In Europe, the other new Art Style game has been released. It appears alongside one of the most beloved Kirby games ever! DSiWare in Europe this week is ... eclectic, featuring, among other things, a picross game about animal pictures, and a national anthem karaoke game. The Nintendo page says that "All eyes are on South Africa, all EARS are on you - in the karaoke game of the year!" Which is odd, considering the lack of the South African national anthem in this game. Kirby's Fun Pak (SNES, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) Lead the Meerkats (WiiWare, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points) Art Style: Penta Tentacles (WiiWare, 1 player, 600 Wii Points) Voodoo Dice (WiiWare, 1-4 players, 1,000 Wii Points) Hero of Sparta (DSiWare, 1 player, 800 DSi Points) Animal Color Cross (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points) Bloons (DSiWare, 1 player, 500 DSi Points) Just Sing! National Anthems (DSiWare, 1 player, 200 DSi Points) %Gallery-86441%

  • Buyer's Guide: 33 things you don't need if you have an iPhone

Every time I walk through Warehouse Stationery (New Zealand's equivalent to Office Depot) or Dick Smith's Electronics (pretty much Best Buy), I'm struck by how probably half the products in each store are pretty much useless to me since I've got an iPhone. Thanks to the apps that come pre-packaged with the iPhone and the more than 100,000 third-party offerings now available in the iTunes Store, the iPhone has gained functionality that might have seemed hard to fathom under three years ago when Steve Jobs first announced the device. "A widescreen iPod with touch controls... a revolutionary mobile phone... a breakthrough internet communications device... these are not three separate devices. This is one device." So Steve Jobs told us all back at Macworld Expo 2007. But since then, the iPhone has grown to be much more than just those three concepts. What follows is a sort of anti-buyer's guide, a list of products and devices that you may never need or even want to buy again (or receive as a gift) if you have an iPhone. Some of these are certainly open for debate, but more than a few of them are products that, for all intents and purposes, are completely unnecessary if you have an iPhone. (Items in bold also apply to the iPod touch).

Sony has announced a new line of downloadable titles for the PSP and PSP Go, confirming rumors that first surfaced last week. Dubbed Minis, these titles have a 100MB size limit and are exclusive to the PSN Store. The lineup will launch on October 1st, the same day as the PSP Go. These titles will reportedly cost less to develop and, more importantly, cost less for gamers. Sony plans to have 15 snacktivities ready for the PSP Go launch, though 50 games are slated for the rest of 2009. A few titles mentioned during the company's GamesCom keynote include Tetris, Field Runners, Hero of Sparta and Minigore.
