A teaser site for a game by the name Hit Monkey surfaced recently, and listed High Moon Studios, Marvel, and Activision on the project set to launch in 2013.The Hit-Monkey series of comics from Marvel, the obvious source material for the game, dates back to 2010. "Bullets will fly, killers will die...and a soulful simian will, for the first time, don his trademark suit and tie," the description of the first comic reads.Using advanced powers of deduction, we think Hit Monkey might be the game Activision and High Moon Studios plan to announce at the Marvel Video Games panel at San Diego Comic Con. Maybe.

  • Transformers: Fall of Cybertron coming from High Moon, has a transforming dino

Do we need to say anything else? Maybe we weren't clear enough in the headline -- transforming dinosaur. Okay, okay, it's Grimlock, and apparently he's taking dinosaur form in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, the next project from Transformers: War for Cybertron devs High Moon Studios. Game Informer unveiled the title and concept shots for the long-ago teased game via its latest cover reveal, which features both Optimus Prime and the aforementioned Grimlock on a metallic battlefield. Few details are given other than the game's title and development house, though GI's site plans to blow out more as the weeks go on, and the magazine will have more details when it arrives later this month. We're gonna go all the way crazy and assume the game will arrive on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at the very least, though no platforms were given in the announcement. What was in the announcement, though? An incredible mechanical dinosaur. Update: Activision added a few more details in its own press release, which confirmed the game as an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 title and said it's set to launch in fall 2012. Try and look surprised!

Joystiq would never condone violence; however, when it comes to robot-on-robot violence, we're all for it. It's not like they can feel anything, right? So we'd like to bring your attention to some pre-order bonuses for High Moon Studios' upcoming not-a-movie-game Transformers: War for Cybertron. Should you decide to enlist in the robo-wars early, you can nab yourself an exclusive character: Jazz, if you pre-order through Best Buy, Demolishor, should you go through Amazon, and Shockwave, if you go the GameStop route. Check out a video of Demolishor above and be sure to head past the break to catch a glimpse of the other two.

The upcoming Transformers: War for Cybertron seems determined to impress with its rendition of the titular transforming robots' home world, Cybertron. But see, there's one crucial mistake made by the game, one that hasn't been entirely evident until now: No matter what planet he's on, no matter where he is, Optimus Prime is only allowed to transform into a truck and not Tim Burton's version of the Batmobile from 1989. Well, okay, we lied -- we'll also accept Optimus in gorilla form, too. After you've checked out the trailer above, be sure to morph into our gallery below, which is packed with a bunch of new screens from the upcoming robo-brawler. %Gallery-86611%

You may have already caught a glimpse of Transformers: War for Cybertron on this very site, but now we're happy to report that Activision has docked on the Space Station Stiq with an extended trailer in tow. After decrypting and uploading to our network -- which is fueled by caramel and old E.T. Atari 2600 carts -- we're glad to show you, dear reader, the full debut trailer, with one caveat: it may not be for the faint of heart. Much WD-40 is spilled on the war-torn streets of the Transformers' home planet, so much that we ask all of our mechanically-inclined readers pour themselves a stiff drink before viewing. Seriously, lots of robots die, people.

The latest Transformers game, War for Cybertron, takes place before the Autobots and Decepticons arrived on Earth. As such, they have no concept of our Earth "trucks" and "awesome jets," and can only transform into ... things that look pretty much like trucks and awesome jets, but alien. The teaser after the break introduces the setting for the new High Moon-developed title, and Game Informer promises more info on its constantly updating War for Cybertron hub page. If the new locale and exotic transformations don't grab you, think about this: all humans are millions of miles away from Cybertron, so unlike the movies, you'll actually get to see the Transformers in this game.

  • Report: Activision putting Radical to work on Spider-Man, High Moon on Transformers

It's true! Ultra publisher Activision Blizzard is planning to release more games based on the lucrative Transformers and Spider-Man franchises. According to The Cut Scene's Ben Fritz, the powerhouse has already chosen which of its owned developers will sit next to the conveyor belt for upcoming (and currently unannounced) titles. Fritz and his sources suggest that High Moon Studios, developer of last year's The Bourne ConspiraQTE, will deliver a new Transformers game in 2010. Activision likely hopes to turn the robots in disguise into an annual franchise, even without an accompanying film for fans to despise. Likewise, with a Spider-Man 4 film nowhere in sight (we'll ask Spider-Man 3's CSI butler to get on the case), you can expect to see a new, unattached arachnid adventure crawling out of Radical Entertainment -- currently finishing the superheroic Prototype -- sometime in the future.Things you're unlikely to see sometime in the future: giant robots and agile superheroes losing their appeal.

It's almost always nice to see a fresh demo pop up on Xbox Live Marketplace. Today is one of those days, thanks to a brand-spankin-new (and very early) demo for The Bourne Conspiracy from Sierra and High Moon. The demo clocks in at 1.2 gigabytes (yow) and promises "An intense, fast-paced, authentic experience." In other words, the demo promises about as much as your average Mexican restaurant. We've yet to put the demo through its paces, but we're eager to give it a try, as what we've seen of The Bourne Conspiracy so far has us intrigued though it hasn't managed to really excite us thus far. Here's hoping the demo paints a good picture of the game to come.

Earlier this month, High Moon Studios revealed that a punchy and limb breaking Bourne Conspiracy demo was planned for release to the XBLM sometime next month. Now, thanks to the magic of the internets and a what a few weeks time can bring, we can confirm via Eurogamer that the Bourne demo will be ready for download on Monday, May 19th. Exciting stuff that would be even more exciting if the franchise's main man Matt Damon was actually featured in the game ... SNAP!

GameTrailers has released a new gameplay video of The Bourne Conspiracy, one of the first to feature a non-stop section of pure gameplay (complete with a HUD this time). This video in particular shows off both the gunplay and melee combat of The Bourne Conspiracy and gives us some clues as to how it will all actually work. Thus far, Sierra has been keen to point out that the game would capture the brutal combat seen in the films, and what's on display in the video is definitely interesting. Looking at the video, it seems like most of the really brutal moves are initiated as reversals or counters to attacks from the enemy, triggering a brief cinematic attack from Bourne. Beyond that, it looks like the moves actually performed by the player are limited to a few basic punches. Of course, we won't know exactly how it works until we lay our hands on a controller and play it, so we'll reserve judgment until the announced demo arrives next month. In the meantime, give the video a look and share your thoughts in the comments.

Those who wouldn't consider themselves fans of office equipment-related acts of violence should probably go ahead and skip this video altogether -- but if you're the kind of person who owns multiple copies of the Jean Claude Van Damme masterpiece "Bloodsport", feel free to treat yourself to the above trailer for Sierra's adaptation of Robert Ludlum's popular series of espionage novels, The Bourne Conspiracy. Who knew literature could be so ... pugilistic? We're still waiting for that lackluster gameplay montage or negative hands-on writeup to confirm our general apprehension towards adapted games, but with the continuing font of sizzle trailers Sierra is churning out, our steadfast trepidation is waning. Damon be damned -- we can't wait for Conspiracy's June 3 release date.

Sierra announced today that the upcoming book and film adaptation The Bourne Conspiracy will release on June 3 in North America. As discussed here before, the game features a mixture of hand-to-hand combat as well as run-and-gun action. We're sure gamers are interested in trying out the game or, as As Sierra's Al Simone puts it, "experience the dangerously exciting aura and frenetic pace inherent in the Bourne franchise." We'll see about that. It's worth noting that Bourne will be making his video game debut on the same day as Microsoft's flagship action, (Game of the Year) Ninja Gaiden II. So, demon slaying super ninja or elbow cracking super spy? Decisions, decisions ....[Via Press Release]

Some new footage of The Bourne Conspiracy is up on GameTrailers showcasing some of the game's firearms. Anyone that has played a third person shooter in the last several years should be relatively familiar with the action that's present in this trailer. Dark environments: check. Cover system: check. A metal crate deflecting a helicopter's high caliber gunfire: check. One thing that's worth noting, however, is that the video shows no user interface whatsoever. There is no ammo gauge, no aiming reticle, no life meter, nothing. Whether this is indicative of the actual game or an example of developers removing the UI for the sake of a trailer, we'll have to wait and see (for what it's worth, none of the screenshots released thus far include a UI either). Now, if we can just get a trailer devoted to some Bourne-tastic, arm-breaking hand-to-hand combat, we'll be set.%Gallery-4286%

  • Bourne Conspiracy devs lament PS3's Unreal Engine problems

    03.14.2008

High Moon, the developers behind the upcoming book-gone-movie-gone-game title, The Bourne Conspiracy, is on the ever-growing list of teams struggling with the Unreal Engine and PS3. Their VP, Paul O'Connor, spoke to Gamasutra about PS3 and how the Unreal Engine was working out for them on the platform. He admitted: "We needed a lot of support on Unreal to make it run on the PlayStation 3. We got caught in the same crunch as everybody else when [Epic] finalized Gears Of War, so that definitely slowed down the PS3 support at the time."It's not all bad news, as he goes on to praise what the team has managed to do with the PS3 and says the game is about ready to go through the pipeline. High Moon had to use a lot of their own toolset, though, saying while the Unreal Engine 3 is a great toolset, for the PS3, they needed to bring out their own stuff as well. This problem has been plaguing many Unreal developers, and is at the root of a lawsuit brought on by Too Human developer, Silicon Knights.

It can be quite a painful ordeal to desire games derived from pre-sold text such as books, television, and movies. The Bourne Conspiracy is one such game, as we want it oh so badly to turn out amazing -- especially after watching this intense trailer. We're thoroughly impressed by the offerings presented, but the tainted history of licensed games always nags at our thoughts. Could this be the exception? Maybe. In this latest trailer, we see this title's ambitious gameplay at work as it mimics the fast-paced action seen in the Bourne flicks. The gameplay is wisely wrapped around honing the feeling of being Jason Bourne -- that means turning anything and everything into a deadly weapon, as well as the ability to escape out of nearly impossible situations. The kinds of moves you can pull off, especially the hand-to-hand combat, look amazingly fun to pick up and try out. As much as we are enamored by this new peek at The Bourne Conspiracy, we'll wait until we test this baby out for ourselves before hopping back on the licensed games bandwagon.[Thanks Dahk!]

  • The Bourne Conspiracy to conspire on 360

Sierra Entertainment has announced Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy for Xbox 360 (and PS3 ... blah, blah). Developed by High Moon Studios, creators of the vampiric western, Darkwatch, the game puts players in the shoes of brainwashed government assassin, Jason Bourne. The game promises to let players experience Bourne's evolution from deadly assassin to rogue agent. Given the visual similarities to Splinter Cell Conviction and the attachment of Robert Ludlum's name to the title, it looks like Sierra is doing everything it can to establish a competing franchise. With Conviction seemingly borrowing from the Bourne films, it will be interesting to see the inevitable comparisons between the two games when The Bourne Conspiracy ships next summer.More info will be revealed at E3 next month, and a cover story will appear in the August issue of OXM.
