Unless you actually work for Samsung, packin' 8GB of storage in your phone is a mighty good thing, we say; happily, the FCC agrees. Samsung's SGH-i310, perhaps the only Windows Mobile 5 smartphone with enough street cred to truly deserve the "music phone" title, looks to have won approval this week. Lending to its air of legitimacy are the true mechanical scroll wheel and relatively vast storage -- all well and good, we say, but what's really promising is the fact that the i310 rolls on all four GSM bands. Even if your carrier frowns on this kind of goodness, import with wild abandon, knowing this sucker's got you covered for spectrum no matter where you might be.

In the E3 fury that was last week, we managed to overlook that Samsung dropped a pretty major update into their 8GB i310 music phone – some of that sweet T-DMB mobile teevee sugar. That change bumps the model to an obscure SCH-B570. Other than some additional, unspecified multimedia capabilities, that's about all we know for sure. Though it's likely to carry the same specs as the i310: WinMo 5.0, microSD expansion, 2 megapixel shooter, Bluetooth with A2DP stereo audio support, TV-out, and integrated dual-speakers. Normally at this point, we'd tell you there's no chance in Hades we'll ever see this phone in these United States. However, with the FCC approving T-DMB phones of late, well... you just never know.

It's quite refreshing to see so many "World's ____s" at Samsung's booth. This time we've got the World's First 10 Megapixel Cameraphone, the World's Best HSDPA Handset, and the World's First Mobile WiMAX rig. We got hands ons with their new T509 slimphone, B600 10 megapixel cameraphone, their 8GB i310, S4300 musicphone, Z540 Vodafone phone (which happens to remind one a little much of the V3x), the Z510,  D520 slim slider, Cingular's forthcoming D407, and, of course, some Samsung execs shooting the breeze about their devices.
