Sony’s latest VR attraction will let you enter 'Jumanji'
Sony Pictures and VR attraction firm The Void have teamed up to create a new VR experience in conjunction with Sony's upcoming film Jumanji: The Next Level. Called Jumanji: Reverse the Curse, it will allow visitors to virtually enter the jungles of Jumanji, while exploring a physical stage with walls, props and "multi-sensory effects including touch and smell," the companies wrote in a press release.
Sony CEO completes quest to make the company successful again
If the news that Sony CEO Kaz Hirai will be stepping down in a few months came as a bit of a surprise this morning, then the latest peek at the company's books is a return to something more predictable. In the third quarter of Sony's fiscal year -- covering October through December 2017 -- its Playstation division continued to pull in the most money. Sales of home entertainment and audio gear, as well as camera components, were particularly strong over those three months; and unlike last quarter, smartphone income was in the positive, too.
Amazon's latest Prime perk is an early 'Jumanji' screening
Amazon Prime members will have a new perk soon for all the Jumanji fans in the house. Subscribers can book tickets for a December 8th advance showing of the upcoming movie, which will screen a full 12 days before its public release.
Facebook tests VR in News Feed with ‘Jumanji’ experience
Since adding 360 videos to News Feeds in June 2016, Facebook has spent this year significantly invested in the format. It enabling 360 livestreaming and then added that functionality within its apps, and even boosted the back end with automatic image correction. But the social network isn't stopping its immersive push at flat imagery. Today Facebook announced it has started testing VR experiences in users' News Feeds, and its first experiment is a 'scavenger hunt' game for the upcoming Jumanji film.
