  • Aliens vs. Predator facehugs UK charts, Just Dance not going anywhere

Like seasoned hunters, Aliens vs. Predators quickly and efficiently concluded BioShock 2's brief dominance atop Chart-Track's UK all-formats sales chart. The prior week, BioShock 2 unseated Mass Effect 2. Meanwhile, Just Dance refused to give up that #2 spot. Ubisoft's dance-a-thon title saw a 55 percent sales increase as BioShock 2 took a 77 percent dive into third place. Thanks to the Winter Olympics going on in the great semi-white north of Canada, Sega saw a ski-jump boost in sales for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, which made its way back into the Top 10 in the eighth spot. Anthropomorphic and mushroom-tripping Olympians weren't the only ones to benefit from the hype, as Vancouver 2010 received a 274 percent increase and broke into the Top 40 at 11th place -- which is, like, a tin medal? • BioShock 2 debuts atop UK charts, drowns out Just Dance

Mass Effect 2's reign in the UK has come to an end, with a return trip to Rapture replacing BioWare's journey across the stars in first place. The latest Chart-Track data shows that Bioshock 2 is now the Big Daddy on the block, besting the hypnotic gyrations of Just Dance, Ubisoft's successful bust-a-mover. With that in second place, FIFA 10 slid into third. Bioshock 2, which bested Mass Effect 2's UK debut numbers, is the first Take-Two title to be in the top spot since 2008, when GTA IV managed to jack its way into first place. Mass Effect 2 has maintained the top spot on Chart-Track's UK all-formats sales chart for a second week in a row. However, there seems to be some kind of Batarian flu loose on the isles, because Mass Effect 2 sales, which dropped by 64 percent this week, were "within touching distance" (850 units, to be exact) of Wii's Just Dance. Rounding out the unchanged top three for a second week was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. EA's Dante's Inferno had one hell of a premiere on the charts, earning a somewhat sinful spot at fourth. In a good sign for MAG, the mega shooter slipped only three notches to seventh place. Meanwhile, the surprise return of other BioWare game Dragon Age: Origins to the top 40 last week has gained even more momentum, moving up another three spots to 28th. Mass Effect 2 has warped to the top of Chart-Track's UK sales chart, revealing that Britain isn't just about Just Dance (which still stepped its way into second place, by the way). Comparing debut weeks, the Normandy crew's second outing sold twice as well on Xbox 360 than the original did back in 2007 and three times higher on PC. EA is expecting a good financial return from Mass Effect 2, having already shipped 2 million copies. Taking the bronze this week on the all-formats chart is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and in fourth is ... MAG. Yes, coverage of the PS3-exclusive may have been totally eclipsed by BioWare's space opera, but it still managed a strong debut -- have a look at our review to see if it's worth the attention. The rest of the list features the usual suspects, though Dragon Age: Origins has made a return to the top 40. It seems Mass Effect 2 wasn't the only BioWare game casting a spell over consumers last week. • 'Just Dance' just keeps groovin' atop UK charts

In what is likely an unearthed Dalek conspiracy, Chart-Track's UK sales chart reveals that Ubisoft's Just Dance is cuttin' a rug at the head of the retail Soul Train for a second week. In a small bit of redemption for those on the British isles, Modern Warfare 2 took back second place. Meanwhile, Wii Fit is biding its time in third, ready to gain its eighteenth wind and jump back up again when it's ready. Most of the top ten is made up of familiar favorites, with the exception of Army of Two: The 40th Day, which is surely fist-bumping its hold of the fourth spot. Bayonetta and Darksiders, the first two of 2010's numerous high-profile Q1 releases, continue to put up a fight, slipping slightly to 11th and 14th places, respectively. Now could somebody please explain the magic of Just Dance? Source – Just Dance Fever [GFK Chart-Track] Source – Latest UK Software Charts [GFK Chart-Track]

  • UK charts: Just Dance on Modern Warfare 2's grave

For nine straight weeks, the UK's gamer populace has been mesmerized by the siren's song of Modern Warfare 2. Today, that's all changed, with the latest Chart-Track data showing a new entry usurping Modern Warfare 2's top spot: Just Dance. Ubisoft's quirky dance title for the Wii has enjoyed a level of success there we would never have thought possible. Can its performance be attributed to good advertising or simply the United Kingdom's unrestrained love of Kevin Bacon? And MW2 wasn't even in the second spot, either. Wii Fit Plus managed to grab the silver, while Infinity Ward's shooter was bumped down to a respectable bronze. Newcomers Bayonetta and Darksiders also managed to stay on the list, along with Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed 2, which stealthily secured the tenth spot.

Reporting the UK sales chart is starting to feel like being a weatherman in Los Angeles. For the ninth week in a row, Modern Warfare 2 sits atop the all formats chart. If Modern Warfare 2 makes it to ten weeks in a row, we're expecting a communique from Hitchhiker's Marvin. The next three spots are occupied by a casual alliance, consisting of Wii Fit Plus, Just Dance for Wii and Wii Sports Resort, respectively. Proving that the UK still has interest in games beyond war, sports and losing weight, Bayonetta's hair grabbed the fifth spot on the chart for its debut. THQ's Zelda meets God of War hybrid, Darksiders, also had a strong debut in eighth place. Had it bested the current chart champ, we'd be checking for signs of the apocalypse. Okay, so it's a bit odd for Ubisoft to release a promo in January for a casual game that came out in November, starring a game industry figure who nobody in the target audience would be familiar with. But you know what else is a bit odd? Goichi Suda. In the video after the break, see the No More Heroes creator dance to MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" with Frag Doll "Psyche" in Ubisoft's Just Dance. It's likely to be the best video of a Japanese game designer dancing to a vintage hip-hop crossover hit you'll see today! But do let us know if you see a better one. [Via GSW]

You're going to have to take our word for it: Ubisoft's promo for Just Dance is easily the best video on the Nintendo Channel this week. Not only does it feature fat people falling down (who are always fodder for a shameless laugh), but it's got kids dancing and -- well, we don't want to ruin the rest for you. Just boot up your Wii and check it out. Seriously, do it. Head past the break for the full list of this week's content. %Gallery-70594%

So, you've just purchased Just Dance, hypothetically, and you're ready to pick up your Wiimote and humiliate yourself thoroughly -- even more than you did at the store. Good news! The track list is, in fact, profoundly embarrassing. We're not music snobs or anything, but there's something on this list guaranteed to make everyone feel bad.How embarrassing is the Just Dance selection? Try New Kids on the Block's "Step By Step." It's "Step By Step" embarrassing. It's "Who Let the Dogs Out" embarrassing. But at least it doesn't have Britney Spears's "Womanizer," right? It's got a cover of "Womanizer." Superannuation, like the rest of us, seems to have been drawn to Ubisoft's irresistible Just Dance. The combination of the imperative title and the goofy enthusiasm of the trailer make us follow the Wii dancing game a little more closely than others we don't really intend to play. The site alerted us to the box art for the title, which boldly advertises three songs: "U Can't Touch This," "Groove is in the Heart," and "Hot N Cold." We have yet to decide, but we think ... we might like the design. It'll certainly stand out on the shelf, commanding everyone who walks by to just dance. And the people on the box won't be as humiliated with their appearance as the Jam Sessions guy.%Gallery-70594%

  • Just watch this trailer, and then Just Dance

The trailer for Ubisoft's just-dancing game Just Dance puts forth a pretty upbeat philosophy about life. No matter where you are -- the office, the convenience store, the, uh, 1950s -- it's the perfect time to turn on some dance pop from twenty years ago, turn into a glowing cartoon, and --Just Dance. Of course, Ubisoft would prefer that you just dance at home, by playing the Wii game this trailer is promoting, but you don't need to worry about details like that. You have one solitary obligation, and that is to dance. Due to its use of the Wii Remote, this game seems to emphasize arm movements in dance, contrasting with Dance Dance Revolution, which is based primarily on foot movements. We can't wait to see someone play both simultaneously.%Gallery-70594%

Originally discovered in a trademark, Ubisoft has announced Just Dance, a Wii game developed by Ubisoft Paris. While we had some interest in the title due to the possibility of it being Q? Entertainment's rhythm game project, the announcement shows that it ... isn't. Just Dance invites players to learn and mimic "real dance moves set to classic and modern songs across all genres they know and love," as CEO Yves Guillemot put it. Among the 30 licensed tracks: dance classics like "Groove Is In The Heart," "Pump Up the Jam," and "U Can't Touch This." But ... how do you do the MC Hammer dance in this game? Do you attach the Wiimote to your leg? Does it come with special parachute pants with a pocket for the controller?%Gallery-70594%
